It's a great park because it offers so much and is open to the public at no cost. There are basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields and bleachers, multi-purpose fields, an in-line skating rink, restrooms, a picnic shelter, and tons of trails (paved and unpaved). The park district does an excellent job of maintaining the fields and courts, and keeping the trails clean. I am most excited because when my husband and I went for a bike ride today, we saw them working on adding more trails! The paved trails are really great because they are smooth and wide, perfect for runners, walkers, bikers, or skaters. The dirt trails are a little more rough, but a lot of fun because they run along a river and there aren't as many people on them. We rode on a couple today and got quite muddy, but it's great fun!

There are several covered picnic areas and lots of trash/recycling bins. There's a sledding hill and a stadium as well. The grounds were well maintained: clean, grass and plants cared for. For the elementary set there is a bigger play area with lots of spinning things(you literally, sit, stand or hang off these contraptions and spin at high speed. $50 you will take turns with your kid!), swings, a super tall slide and lots of things to climb, swing, jump, hang, slide on. The park has two baseball diamonds and the creek is pretty enough to peak creative play and maybe get a little muddy. For the adults there are plenty of benches, a picnic table under shelter, a private parking lot, no sand AND a potty! A Port-o-potty of course but in a pinch it works. One worthy note is that WCP is on the Park Districts short list of parks to rent. They put quite a chunk of change into it with the added bike path, brick paved parking lot and covered picnic area. That fact alone makes it one of the area's best parks! WCP was renovated with the new playsets a few years back and has quickly become a favorite meeting spot for playgroups from the area and from other suburbs(mom's network at play for that). So pack a picnic, bring some balls and enjoy one of the best parks out there!

On the other hand, it can be very quiet when nothing is going on. Good for big gatherings. The kids can run around and play. Best non sports related thing here are bathrooms. It's surprisingly clean. Pete is wonderful! My daughter has been playing softball since she was 5. Next week she is trying…read moreout for the Plainfield North softball team. We scheduled 3 lessons with Pete to work on my daughter's hitting. What a difference!! In only three lessons, she broke some terrible habits she had developed over the years with her stance. She left her lesson today feeling confident about tryouts next week. I can't say enough about Pete. He knew exactly what she needed to correct and was able to teach her in a short amount of time. Also, the price of the lessons are extremely reasonable and well worth it!
