Tip: You can not place rugs on the grass- each site is paved so there really is not a need for one. Note: Restaurants, grocery stores and local attractions are not open on Sunday. Be sure you come prepared if arriving late Saturday or Sunday.

The visitor center is beautiful and new with 2 EV car chargers in the parking lot. Clean bathrooms, interesting things to see, and live animals that you could see in the park. The lake is gorgeous. We went to the beach, which is under construction and was weird to go to while the bathrooms, parking lot, etc are under construction and there were so many workers and big vehicles around. But the beach is open, and it's a nice beach. I wish we had rented a pontoon boat in the lake, that looked beautiful. Now we have to go back so that we can go on a boat there!

We had our opportunity and went for it in visiting The Wilds and others in the area. We visited on a Saturday for a Sunset tour. Dinner is cooked up in the kitchen there and provided buffet style on the deck overlooking the fields. The food was good. Shortly after dinner a thunder storm blew in quick with some strong winds. Being from the west coast we rarely see these strong storms. We sheltered in place for a while. Whe the storm had passed through those of us who stayed for the tours were treated a wonderful upclose tour and stunning colorful sunset. We returned on Monday to stay in one of the hurts for a few nights. There are about 12 yurts yurts overlooking the fields of some animals with a wonderful view. A very good Dinner and breakfast and an open air tour are included with the stay. After visit time around the fire pit. I woke up early one morning to find the takin along the water and some taking a swim. Everyone staying in the yurts enjoyed sharing the stories of their tours and checking out the views from the various yurts. There are the 2 tours for the visitors. The wildside tour is an upclose ride in the back of a truck which can leave the road to be up close to the animals. The open air tour is an open air bus which stays on the road while still getting to see the beautiful exotic animals. There are bison, Asian and white rhinos, giraffes, takin, camels, and so many other animals with all of the babies. The tour guides and whole staff is so knowledgeable about the animals. Ready to answer all of the visitors questions about the animals. Everyone has their favorite animals that enjoy seeing around. We are talking about a return visit to check out the new lodge.

A friend of mine told me about this little charm and told me to go since…read moreat my old campground it got quite boring so I looked online and booked a space in silk stocking (as you can see in the pictures below) and when I arrived I noticed that there is no satellite for phones but I like that because it lets me enjoy wildlife without the doomscrolling of social media (you know what apps) and there is just so much things to do. For example, there's a concession stand that has some fire food and there's Wibits on the lake but for the people how don't want to get their hair wet or go underwater in a lake like me, there is also public lake access for swimming to. There is also peddle boats that you peddle on the lake which give you a good view of the lake without having to rent a expensive pontoon boat. They also have kayaks. And they have peddle carts on land for fun travel around the park but it is VERY hard to peddle on the rocks and feels like if you were to put peddles on a bus. The vibe there is also very good and campfire rings are included with each site though they are kinda dirty so I'd recommend rapping tin foil around food before cooking. The bathrooms do have washing machines and there is a vending machine that is like 50 cents I think and it has washing machine stuff. Just so yall know if your bringing your bike just know that most of the park is rock so it may be a bit hard to ride on. Same with dogs, the rocks may be a bit hard on their paws so just walk them in the grass until there's pavement. Also there is a bigfoots big ride every Saturday night which is a tractor hauling this long wagon with benches in it and it is quite fun. The camp store is well stocked and has some camping must haves like wood and such. The creek behind silk stocking is a great spot for fishing just make sure to release the fish afterwards since they are Austin lake's property. Overall though the park is clean and the bathhouses are nice and they added free water for 6 mins but when I pressed the button it didn't turn on it made this like buzzing sound like it was supposed to be dispensing water but it didn't so I just went in the cabin and took a shower. Also tents are allowed as long as it's just one that is the max.

And I thought it was cleared up because it was just a misunderstanding. Me and my friend got a chocolate milk shake and a blue raspberry ice cream cone and the ice cream cone tasted like it was just dyed blue. And when we got them we said thank you and the one lady said "Yeah" and the other said "mhm". Mind you we are a lot younger than the employees and we felt it was very rude of them.

But probably the most important is the camp management. And this is where NRC really shines. The daughter/father team that recently purchased the campground have made it an absolute pleasure to stay here. They work tirelessly to improve the campground and are committed to providing a safe, fun, family friendly camping experience. The campground is conveniently located just east of Zanesville, Ohio - just minutes off of I70. It is just off the "National Road", minutes from Zanesville, "Pottery Capital of the World," and the Wilds animal adventure park. Columbus, home of The Ohio State Buckeyes is just an hour away. The campground features rolling hills, two stocked ponds and plenty of shade trees in a true park-like setting. Sites accommodate all types of camping from motor coach to tent. There are also several cabins of various sizes available. Amenities include: camp store, coin laundry, play grounds, corn hole, volleyball court, fishing ponds, sun deck, dump stations and recreation room. The owners also have special events on a regular basis, such as live bands, DJs, and stand up comedians. The park gets full on weekends, but is pretty quiet during the week. Overall it has a very quiet, safe, comfortable, family friendly vibe. Sites are available by day, week or month and seasonal sites are also available (the park does close for the winter season.) There is no cable or park wide WiFi, but free WiFi is available at the camp office/store. We had decent Verizon and Sprint mobile coverage. Local NBC is available if you have an HD antenna.
