We love this Y. So clean, staff are very friendly. The staff at the childcare are absolutely amazing. Outdoor Pool is incredible. My only complaint is that the indoor pool has been closed for a month which is ridiculously inconvenient and I wish the outdoor pool opened at 11 instead of 11:30. Outdoor pool guest passes are high at $12 per person per visit and the visitor can only come 3 times in a season. We love the gym and bathrooms/locker rooms are very clean. read more

This place is very poorly run. Equipment has been broken for months and never fixed. The staff is very nice unless you get on their bad side. As someone who been on the inside of this business I can say they will do anything to protect themselves even if it creates a problem for you. They preach on creating a safe space for everyone when they'll throw harassment cases under the rug! read more

I just LOVE Spring Valley YMCA. I take regular classes, CX WORKS, Body Flow, Spinning. I've tried Cardio Fusion, Yoga and enjoyed Body Pump - until an injury cause me to stop. They have a beautiful spin studio. Also they upgrade their equipment, bikes, treadmills etc! Good stuff!! The teachers are encouraging, excellent and inspirational. They are reliable. I am a charter member and most of my instructors have stayed the same- a good thing!! Also the YMCA has contests and free programs to keep you on track. You can even get personal training too , one session or multiple sessions. The staff, for the most part, is very pleasant and helpful. I cannot stand the crowds in the afternoon, or on Saturday mornings. I couldn't even get on a weight bench - it was packed. Every treadmill in use so I recommend you go at "off times". I would be thrilled to see them open 24 hours a day but shudder to think how much more my membership would increase! Membership goes up every year and my newest rate will be over 90$ a month- a family membership. Very vey expensive. I wish they would offer a "non pool" membership. I'm paying a mint for stuff I'm not even using. It is so expensive that my son had to switch to LA Fitness which is half the price. They offer reduced memberships but be prepared to fill out mountains of paperwork & I'm sure you have to be poverty level to benefit. I rarely use the pool in the summer, it's insanely crowded. Don't expect to get a lounge chair either unless you are there really early. The pool is lovely, very "resort"-ish. You'll feel like you're on vacation. There are indoor pools too! Lap pool, family fun pool, there is a fabulous hot tub and a sauna too. All of which I've enjoyed. I love my YMCA- you can't put a price on your health. I'm there 5-7 times a week, I'll never switch gyms. You get what you pay for and I'm so happy that the YMCA is in our community- we really needed this. It's a great place to work out and I've met some very inspiring people at my YMCA. read more

We are pretty fortunate to have a relatively new YMCA in the area. This one is about 7 years old and was recently expanded in the past year. You can tell that they really maintain this place as nothing really looks rundown or anything. The two indoor pools and one large outdoor pool complete with water slides are lots of fun! Yea, the outdoor pool can get pretty crowded during the summers. They also have a baby pool and a splash pad area. The splash pad is covered so that it can be used year-around. What I don't like is the fact that kids have to wear life jackets if they haven't passed a certain swim test. While I understand their concern, if I'm in the water with my kid and within arms reach, why does he have to wear a life jacket? How's he supposed to learn how to swim while wearing one? The fitness center has all the usual equipment and there are sign-up sheets for some of the more popular machines (30 minute limit), but lately, getting on a machine hasn't really been an issue. What is frustrating is that machines will sometimes be down for awhile. As of this writing, 3 of the 5 stairmaster machines are down and have been for well over a month now. I'm not sure why machines aren't fixed quicker. I will say though that most of the machines are in working order--it's just down machines take longer to fix than I think they should. They have both an indoor and outdoor track along with a little climbing wall for younger kids. They have 4 gymnasiums with basketball courts. These courts are sometimes used for classes as well. Childcare is also available most days for a modest cost of $1/hr via the use of a punch card. Simply buy one for $15 and you get 15 hours of child watch services. We've had a couple of kids birthday parties here and my sons have always enjoyed them. If you have a swim party in the summer, you can rent the outdoor gazebo, which is nice. With membership, you have access to four other branches as well. The Phoenixville branch is nice. The Pottstown is older and I'm not sure about the others. If all you are interested in is the fitness center, there are cheaper alternatives. But if you have kids or want to take advantage of the pools and/or multiple locations, then this is not a bad deal. All in all, my family is very happy that we have this Y in the area and we have been members for over 5 years now and plan on being members for many more years. read more

good facilities. definitely overpriced. hours are terrible if you have little kids and would like to workout after they go to bed. only open til 9, fridays are 8 which is even worse. basketball floor is often slippery and they don't have any adult basketball times only any longer which used to be awesome and a reason to join by itself. read more

I agree with most of the front desk situations when I first joined it with my kids person I got was fine after that coming in was older white women and was so rude especially checking in. these are first people you see when coming they should be happy at the front, but this same women was not everytime. also had experience with signing my kids up for classes the one lady kept trying to make us go to another yMCA, when I specifically wanted to sign my children up for spring valley like lady why are u diverting me. So I have to admit, I like the facilities and the front desk staff is great, but I'm giving this rating because the aquatics staff (mainly the lifeguards and swim instructors) are rude and terrible. I'm an avid user of the pool and I've been kicked out of my lane numerous times by a 15 year old on a power trip who says she's teaching private lessons despite the pool app and the lane schedule saying the lane is open. Plus overall the pool staff is generally rude. I find the training and gym staff to be great and courteous but we are considering canceling our membership strictly because how awful and rude the pool (especially indoor) staff is read more

GORGEOUS! The pools would be worth the cost alone, but the facility is amazing. More importantly, the kids that work there are wonderful. First, the pool has about a dozen lifeguards on duty at a time. There are ones that walk around, sit on the stands and camp in the middle of the pool. It really makes me feel good knowing there are people really watching, not texting or looking for a date. Also, my husband lost his wedding band in the pool. I happened to enlist a couple of kids who had goggles to look on the pool floor for us and one of the guards heard me. He said something to another couple of the guards and before I knew it, they had shut down the pumps on the slides so they could wade into the pool and look. I couldn't believe how sweet they were to help. They have a coffee bar, daycare rooms, walking track and rock walls. Something for everyone in a very comfortable environment. Why so many negative reviews? I love this place. I'm been a member for a little over a year. My primary Y is Audubon, but I frequent here on the weekends and my daughter takes swimming lessons here. This place was my saving grace this winter while training for a half marathon. Treadmills with your own tv and then when that got boring, I finished up on the indoor track. Simply amazing. I love that I can have a great work out and then go sit in the hot tub or relax in the sauna. Sure they have some weird rules in the indoor and outdoor pool, but for the price I pay and as much as I use this gym and others in the areas it's completely worth it. read more

*This review is strictly for outdoor pool* Spring valleys ymca outdoor pool is absolutely fantastic. I visited here on a Friday with my two children. We got to the pool about ten minutes after it opened and i expected to stay about 2 hours. We ended up staying over four hours we enjoyed ourselves so much. Staff is super friendly. The lifeguard doing the swim test was very patient w my 7 year old. And when I went to order from the cafe it took a little while. After politely asking about my food the worker there gave me my food fast and a free water ice coupon! The facility is gorgeous. A splash center with about 6 or 7 different fountains, a kiddie pool with half of it shaded (talk about thinking about babies w sensitive skin! Love it) and more fountains in the pool, 3 BIG water slides and plenty more pool space to space to spare. Not the mention the oversized playground that surrounds the pool. My only complaint is the bath house leaves a lot to be desired. It's pretty small and fairly dirty. But i guess members have the option to go home and shower its kind of low on the list of priorities. All in all a great time! read more

Spring Valley Y is like my second home. Really great place to work out, meet friends or new people and to relax.

I'd pretty strongly recommend avoiding based on a negative experience with an employee (from what I saw when leaving, I believe his name was Curtis). Worked out here for a few months - clean facility, nice people. One day during a workout, a trainer (who I'd thought I'd seen staring at me a few times before) asked me why i walked around so hunched over. I told him I thought it was a rude question - I'd had headphones in and wasn't really looking for a conversation - then started arguing that it wasn't a rude question/demonstrating how I walked hunched over (with no type of comment about how to improve it/train differently or something along those lines). Particularly at a place that (admirably) promotes inclusion/positivity, I was really surprised. Hope other people's results here are better. read more

Asked front desk woman (older white woman)about a membership or trial membership and her first words were "you cant work out for free." From there she kept her attitude and just seemed to hate her job. Was looking for information to join and instead went with another gym. Happy i did. read more

The staff is nice but the membership is so expensive! The front desk team is always friendly and the instructors are good. It is hard to justify the high membership cost if you don't go to classes. Most classes are geared towards women or older folks so there could be more done to focus on male focused courses. read more

not a regular member but have been here as a guest for their outside pool a few times. We are part of the Y in West Chester and come here with our inlaws who are members. From what they tell me their membership fee is similar but the Y in West Chester doesn't include the outside pool. The only thing as a guest that I'm not in favor of is the sign in process, which you have to be do in the main entrance but then have to go back outside and walk to the pool area. 3 water slides, sprinklers for kids to run through, a kiddy pool, a large shallow pool, and a deep end. Bring a picnic lunch and spend a day at the pool, they also have a concession stand which sells food and drinks. read more

I have to STRONGLY disagree with the negative review posted about Grace Lutheran Y Daycare!! My children attend Grace Lutheran church in Royersford part of the Y daycare program. They LOVR it. The teachers are fantastic, loving and caring. My infant came home using sign language, my 2 year old enjoys reading and writing already!. I thank all of you for doing such a great job!! The directors are amazing and they love the children as much as each individual teacher My children love "school " and look forward to forming strong friendships through out their school years!! read more

They have so much going on, indoor splash area, large kid zero entry pool, 3 waterslides, warm baby pool, lap area, music playing, kid play park, sand volleyball, cafe, and even water ice! Why is it that the whirlpool is not working half the time. That's the only thing that my client enjoys but 9 1/2 out of 10 times it's not operational. I even call ahead to verify weather or not it's working and the idiots working the front desk always answers yes, i should know by now what bumbling blithering morons they are and not to believe them. For all the money they put into building this place you'd think that the whirlpool would work. It really sucks cause that's all he enjoys. Is it too much to ask to keep the dam thing working. This is why I joined la fitness. This to me is just nasty, sitting up in a whirlpool without any whirl. It's just a communal warm bath at this point. Why would anyone even want to bother. i guess it might be easy to take your local y for granted, but this location is fabulous recently renovated/expanded - it offers something for old and young alike indoor/outdoor pools/water slides indoor track, gymnasiums, exercise rooms, plenty of machines and free weights - the outdoor track is decent as well plenty of classes - spinning, zumba, yoga, bosu, kickboxing, boot camp, trx - you name it, they probably do it read more

My family and I really enjoyed the facility especially during the summer time, but not anymore you have to enter thru the main door to workout and use the indoor pool and then you have to leave and enter the bath house to use the outdoor pool. It's so inconvenient and once you get outside there isn't any lockers to put your stuff in, there is only one shower outside. This facility was made for you to be able to access both the indoor and outdoor pool at once or the building wouldn't have access to outside. They call it Freedom Valley there isn't any freedom at this facility. They are taking away from their members just so they can make money off the guest. I don't even enjoy going there anymore soon I'm going to cancel my membership there's too many rules. and I'm also letting my friends all know so they don't purchase memberships. read more

Did you know that the Spring Valley YMCA in Limerick, PA has a rule that minor full paying members (under the age of 12) cannot use the facility and services if the accompanying chaperone is not a member? So they will gladly take monthly membership dues of the minor child and expect them to drive themselves to use the facilities? We signed my son up several years ago to learn how to swim and kept up with the membership. I am not a member because I belong to another gym. I have been taking my son every Saturday morning to swim without incident until I was informed of this very craven rule. We have decided to cancel my son's membership since he is 9 and cannot drive himself and use the facilities unsupervised read more

Great facilities and the child watch received a great overhaul. The child watch is a saving grace, our boy loves it and it allows us to work out without a guilty conscious. The pools and workout equipment are well maintained and they have a very large catalog of programs for kids and adults. The price is steep but worth it if your going to participate in more than just weekend workouts. read more
