Meineke in Eatontown was my second stop, after a Firestone in West Long Branch tried to sell me on a $170 new tire. Firestone insisted that I had tire rot, but could not reconcile that diagnosis with the fact that he could not find a leak. Tanner, at Meineke, was honest, knowledgeable and efficient. He could not find a leak in the tire, but did not try to sell me on anything. When I asked, he suggested a bead seal in case the leak was around the rim and not showing up when the tire was submerged in water. The cost of the bead seal was modest and in my view good insurance ahead of a four-hour drive on Christmas Eve. The tire survived the drive and has not gone flat since. My home mechanic thinks that the valve might have remained open after I inflated the tire (which I did on the day before the drive), but then reset after I re-inflated the tire after discovering the flat. I really appreciate Meineke's excellent service when I was in a bad spot. Thanks especially to Tanner for being so kind and not taking advantage of someone trying to get home for Christmas.

He was personable and explained that he had to add oil and not to trust the "oil life" notification set by the manufacturer. Overall, that was a good experience. But he's gone..... Nick did an oil change (late), told me car needed front brakes & tires. I scheduled an appointment. When I get there he says he must order tires THAT DAY and could be AM or PM when he gets them. He knew I was coming, make & model of car, etc. but was not prepared to do the work. I leave car. No phone call about estimate/status. Next day I call in AM; he is huffy & bothered because he is only one there and does oil changes 8 - 10. I call again later, he says car will be ready PM, he will call me. He calls at CLOSING TIME to tell me car is ready. I get there, he says absolutely nothing, holds out credit card machine, hands me my keys. So for scheduled work I waited 2 full days without any communication from him. Felt that at end he was jerking me around because I had to keep calling him about my car and he didn't like that.

As he was counting his withdrawal his license slipped from his hands and down the side of the seat. It just so happens that it slid into the only hole under the seat. I didn't have the tools to remove the seat so I called alternative care before my dad would become distressed. I was instructed to bring the car in after 1 pm and they would have a look. How can you pay $32 and not clean the mats or wipe down the door jams or move the mats and vacuum under? The manager came out after the guy washing the car alerted her and she said the mats are not included for $32 but I could pay extra $4 to have them cleaned. I guess $32 for a wash doesn't include a complete wash. I came home and basically had to wipe the entire car again and do the entire inside over. 2 stars might be generous. However if you pay for a basic outside wash only you don't feel as ripped off as you only expect so much.
