Dr. Jessica Yu is fantastic, and I would recommend her to any of my friends or family looking for a dentist they can trust. Dr. Yu is warm, kind, and caring. She quickly establishes trust by making sure to let you know everything she's doing beforehand, and also has very sure hands. I was completely relaxed during my fillings (to the point where I was falling asleep). This was due to not only her expertise, but her taking away the medical anxiety by walking you through each step and feeling what to expect. Looking for a new dentist can be scary, and both my partner & I are blessed to have found Dr. Yu to take care of us. I stumbled upon this gem when I was getting my nails done next door. I do not like dental offices and I almost ALWAYS cancel my appts because I get cold feet. It's scary knowing I'm going to get numb and have teeth work done. Long story short- I've gone to all 4-5 of my appts in a span of 1-2 weeks and even have my 4 and 6 year old getting check ups here! I've been to Spring Dental a few times now for routine cleaning and they have always been fast, friendly, and clean. On my most recent x-ray, it showed that I have a cavity. Haven't had one in over a decade. I got the filling today and didn't realize it required a needle for the anesthetics. I hate needles. Fortunately, Jessica Yu was amazing and guided me through the entire process. First there was a numbing agent, for the needle shot. I was so nervous that I closed my eyes. I waited a few seconds for the shot to hit, I was waiting and thought nothing happened, but after a bit I opened my eyes. The anesthetic shot was so quick that I didn't even know it went in. I chose this practice after seeing the good reviews and for general dental cleanings I had a great experience. However I had three fillings done here, and after the procedure I was having issues with tooth pain and sensitivity. They were kind and had me come in a few times to have the fillings adjusted no extra charge. But the pain never really subsided, and now only 3 years later and seeing a new dentist they are redoing all of my fillings I got here because they were trapping food and cavities were forming underneath. The fillings were also really large which concerned my new dentist. Just want to put a warning out there! they are nice but I regret getting fillings here. read more

5 stars for Dr. Yu and all of the dental assistants here. I've never been scared of the dentist but I had no idea going to the dentist could be truly enjoyable until I started coming to Spring Dental. Carmela and the rest of the front desk staff are extremely friendly and I've always been able to get through to a staff member quickly. Setting up appointments is a breeze and I also like that patients have the ability to upload dental records and such online. They are very good with their appointment reminders. I always receive a text a week in advance asking to confirm my appointment and I get an appointment text the day of as well. Dr. Yu is extremely gentle during her cleanings and procedures (in contrast to other dentists who I felt like rattled my brain in my skull every time they scraped the tartar and plaque buildup off my teeth). She has an incredibly light hand, but is still very thorough and knowledgeable. What a concept!! Pain-free dental procedures!! She noticed that my previous dentist had not given me a proper crown after a root canal and advised that I get a proper crown to avoid damage. I definitely trust her to keep my teeth healthy and clean. Andrea, one of the dental assistants, is also very sweet. She did my polishing, flossing, and fluoride after my cleaning and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole procedure. Big plus is that there's plenty of parking outside! read more

I LOVE THIS PRACTICE! And I am someone that HATES the dentist. Honestly- I cry in the chair, I get freaked out, I'm a patient that requires like 1000x doses of novocaine. But in all my 25 years going to the dentist, I have never once enjoyed going, except for at Spring Dental. The front desk staff is incredibly kind and prompt with checking in/setting up appts (tons of COVID checks in place). The hygienists are the sweetest, taking a lot of care to make sure I'm comfortable and settled in. But the SUPERSTAR is Dr. Tan!! She is unbelievably thorough, consideration, compassionate, and educational. Even with her interactions with the hygienists, you can see her patience and care come through. I literally left here yesterday SKIPPING to my car. I called my mother in NY glowing about the experience. I came here without any issue with my teeth and scheduled an appointment for just a regular check up as new patient. I was recommended 6 fillings after the cleaning which seems to be too much for a me who keeps up with my regular dentist visit. When I came back for the procedure that's when the NIGHTMARE begins. Dr. Tehrani's assistant began the prep by giving me topical numbing cream without saying a thing to whats going on. I stopped her and ask what it was for, she told me that it's for anesthesia. I never knew that anesthesia is necessary for filling since none of my past dentists have given me these during filling procedure. A consent wasn't also asked which I think is necessary before introducing any type of medication even an explanation at least. The procedure itself was so uncomfortable, it even got to the point that the dentist and the assistant walked away for few minutes to do something else while a water vacuum was left hanging in my mouth. I had to remove it myself and waited until they came back because I was already getting dehydrated. The whole time I was there, all I keep wanting was for the procedure to end. After the procedure Dr. Tehrani told me that my teeth will be sensitive for a while which I understood. 3 or 4 weeks later before my follow up appointment I called her office to report that the sensitivity never subsided and it's causing me a lot of pain. On my second appointment I told the Carmela the receptionist that I am not proceeding with the procedure until the previous ones gets fixed. When I was roomed, her assistant just suddenly began prepping me for anesthesia and I had to stop her because that's not what I was there for. Dr. Tehrani checked on the the side where she did the filling and she told me that it looks fine to her and did an x-ray. She even said that she recalled telling me that I'll be in pain for awhile. The awhile that she said the last time was two weeks not 4 or even more. She tried to convince me to do the other teeth and I said no that I'll wait until the pain goes away. She shaved some of the fillings that she did which she thinks might help but her other recommendation if it doesn't got away is to do a Root Canal. I was in shocked like I came here not having any issue but now I just created one. She told me that someone will follow up with me in the next two weeks. From then on I already know that I wasn't going to come back. I requested some records from Carmela especially my x-ray which I never received. I consulted another dentist just to have 2nd opinion on the other teeth that she recommended fillings too. The new dentist told me that everything looks fine and no procedure is necessary. It's been 4 months and NEVER did I hear back from her office and guess what I'm living with this PAIN until now. I honestly made a huge mistake on coming here. I didn't want to write a review but whenever I eat or drink something, it reminds me of how much I regret coming here. read more

Another positive incident happened that needs to be told about Spring Dental. Dr. Tan did a very good job with a filling I needed not to long ago. when I went to a new hygienist at another Dental Office I gave her the heads-up to be extremely care or just avoid that area of the dental work when cleaning my teeth. She said "No Problem"! As she proceeded not onply did she crack the filling but she also dislodged the filling completely. And I saw the remains fall out of my mouth to the floor! You could imagine how I felt! The hygienist offered to have the dentist at this office repair or replace it. But in talking to the Dentist she seemed hesitant or maybe she lacked the expertise for this procedure. So i called Spring Dental and talked to Carmella the office receptionist who listened very carefully as to what happened and she got me into the office right away to see Dr. Tan who took care of it on the spot. STAY AWAY. My husband and I have been going to an amazing dentist in San Francisco for many years and we love him so much that we continued to see him even when we moved out of the city. During the pandemic we weren't able to keep our cleaning appts. so I was overdue for a cleaning and because my dentist is in such high demand, it would have taken awhile to get back into my regular cadence of visits. So I, against my better judgement, gave Spring Dental a try. I went in for a cleaning and the hygienist insisted I needed to have full x-rays done, when they discovered two cavities. I wanted to wait for my regular dentist to take a look but Dr. Tehrani and the hygienist insisted they should be taken care of ASAP so, again, against my better judgement, I came in a few days later to have the two cavities taken care of. First off, the hygienist applied the novocaine so haphazardly that the majority of it went onto my throat and I couldn't feel myself swallowing. I panicked and thought I was going to choke to death in the chair waiting for the dentist. NEVER has this happened with any other dentist in my life, even when dealing with molars. Then they placed a ring around my tooth to begin working on my cavity, and the ring got stuck. They yanked and yanked and shaved off some of my tooth to try to get it off, to no avail. They kept yanking and shaving until they finally got it off, which took approx. 10 minutes. Again, another horrible experience that has never happened anywhere else but here. In the days and weeks following my fillings, I was experiencing pain and sensitivity not only to hot/cold but also when trying to eat even the softest foods on the right side. I made an appt., Dr. Tehrani checked and said it was probably because the cavity was big and it was very close to the nerve and to give it time and if it didn't go away, we would need to do a root canal. Fast forward two months, the pain and sensitivity are still there and I've stopped chewing on that side entirely. I called to ask for my dental records to be sent to my previous dentist. Did I receive a call from Dr. Tehrani to check on me and ask to see me so she could remedy the problem? No. Not that I would have gone back anyway but it would have shown that she cared about her patients and stood behind her work. Nothing. I went to see my regular dentist who informed me that the cavity is not, in fact, that close to the nerve and is helping me to correct what Dr. Tehrani so badly botched. And to think she was talking about doing a root canal on a perfectly good tooth! Steer clear if you like your teeth and want to keep them (and be pain free). read more

I really wanted to like Dr. Tehrani. The office is nice and new, but that doesn't hide the shoddy work she has done. About two years ago, I went to her repeatedly for cleanings, fillings, and a root canal/crown during a few months when I had dental insurance. ALL of the fillings that she did for me ended up breaking within 6 months, and I had to have them redone at a different dentist, wasting time and money. Worst of all, my crown was so horribly done that food kept getting caught underneath. I had my crown redone elsewhere and had to pay $300 to get this done... that would have been money saved if it was done right in the first place. Finally, I'm now about to get my root canal redone. Randomly, the entire gum area where the root canal was done swelled up and filled with puss, and I had to rush to the dentist and be put on antibiotics. Now that the swelling is gone, I'm going to have to get the root canal REDONE. Another huge expense, and lots of trouble. I live in NY now and have had this root canal checked by two dentists here, both of whom said "I thought they did better work than that in California!" when they were reviewing x-rays of my root canal. This has all been a hassle, a waste of time, and a waste of money -- all of which could have been saved if she had done her job right in the first place. Honestly, if you are going in for anything beyond a cleaning, do NOT go here! I should have heeded the warning signs early on when she was telling me how much she hated being a dentist as she was working in my mouth.... read more

We chose Spring Dental because they had good reviews and were close by. I needed a teeth cleaning and had some specific questions to ask. The staff was friendly and very helpful. This place is a joke. I call them up, say I need a filling fixed and cleaning. They make an appointment w you right away. Try making you take x rays, even though you give them x Rays from six months ago. Then they say HAVE to x Ray bc the x Rays given aren't good enough? Cmon now. My previous dentist has been doing this since these doctors were still in their daddies ballsack. After they take the x rays, they go on to try and make you sign a document, telling you what is owed at the end of the procedure. My insurance card clearly says $50 co pay for dentist. Which means I pay you $50 today, they submit to my insurance, I get an explanation of benefits and THEN I pay whatever the remaining balance is. Not how they operate apparently. Don't get ripped off. Go somewhere where they actually do the right thing. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Like the other reviewers have said, the office is modern and comfortable, very high-tech, and the staff (Hope and Nancy I believe) are friendly and attentive. I too barely had to wait to see the doctor. After years of being treated as an inconvenience by doctors and dentists, I am thrilled to finally have a dentist who treats me like a patient and customer. While answering my questions she had several opportunities to upsell me and instead gave me the straight facts and informed me of my options. Being a college student I really appreciate that. Great Dentist!! Dr. Tehrani is so respectful and nice. I have had some pretty bad dentists in the Walnut Creek area whether it be an expensive dentist or someone w/bad schooling. There are not too many dentist on this site who get 5 stars so trust me when I say that she is excellent! I checked her out because there was a good review about her on Yelp and they were right!! Everyone at the office is nice and it is clean. I've had a cleaning and cavities filled so far and the experience has been excellent. My insurance covered it and I am so happy I found her. I've had my teeth cleaned here a handful of times. Dr. Tehrani did the cleanings. In a perfect world, a hygienist will be the only ones cleaning my teeth, but when they doctor is willing to do it and will give you a cash discount, that's great too. I felt like I received good cleanings here. And she honored the "new patient" price that I had paid on my original visit again on subsequent visits. The equipment is state of the art and the doctors (Dr. Tehrani and Dr. Sarvin) are lovely, if not a bit young. The decor is really nice and relaxing. As my brother said: That's the nicest looking strip-mall dentist's office I've ever been too! The doctors and staff are nice, but sometimes things there seem a bit haphazard. Once, some bonding work I had done broke off of my front tooth within a week. When I brought the chip in for examination, the dental tech giggled about it and was kinda like, "Oh well". This practice is truly unique. As I've mentioned in other reviews, I am petrified of the dentist. Part of the reason for that is a horribly sensitive gag reflex, that always acts up during various procedures, and even something as simple as X-ray imaging. During my exam, my sensors were especially reactive, and I had several episodes of gagging, nearly vomiting several times. The response of THE ENTIRE STAFF was nothing short of heart warming. From the front desk, showing up with water, to back rubs, to encouragement, hand holding, another technician coming in suggesting and assisting with numbing , and so much more. In the past, I'd been mortified and extremely embarrassed at my lack of control over my own mouth, but they made me feel so comfortable, with constant reassurance this is a common problem and there was nothing to be embarrassed about. Grace, was like a ninja, running back and forth, making the whole experience as short and comfortable as possible. Further, I know all too well (Unfortunately) of the adverse conditions and harsh medico-legal climate in todays world of health care. It makes it difficult to practice with any form of something resembling common sense, without fearing a lawsuit. I felt Dr. Tehrani is one of the rare providers who puts the patient first and proposes a diagnostic and treatment plan that is truly necessary. I have always been a minimalist , only wanting what is absolutely evidence based and quality care, and she delivered without disappointment. To take it a step further, not only did she propose only what was absolutely necessary, but by the time the exam was complete, the front desk had already called my insurance company to discuss the necessity of this treatment plan, and quoted a price that was A FRACTION of what I'd previously been quoted. Rather than be responsible for thousands of dollars, my insurance had agreed (no doubt as a result of the legwork done by the staff) to cover all costs, leaving me only with a very reasonable co pay. There are practices and practioners who focus on numbers, and those who focus on people. I have no doubt , every staff member at this practice cares about people. It is evident that Dr. Tehrani has a heart for people and loves what she does. As long as I live in the Bay, she will be my dentist. read more
