First time at this park today with my 2 pups and it's super cute! There are 3 different fenced in areas for your pups to play. One is smaller for smaller dogs. One area has a pond for doggies that like to play in the water, however this area is fenced so if you don't want your dog to have access to the water, you can keep them out. There's trash cans and poop bags throughout. Also several big trees for shade. Overall, the park is on the smaller side but would be great for older dogs or dogs that need a lot of space to run. read more

Big open space for the dogs to run full sprint in. There's a pond when its warm out and they drain it during the colder months. Typically open year-round. It's all gravel and rocks, so no grass for the pups to run in. read more

Nice spot. HUGE open space but not much shade unfortunately. Tons of parking with the adjacent park. Good spot to walk your pups (on leash) too. Dog park has a separate section for smaller dogs. Still a ton of room in the main area for dogs of all sizes and energy levels. Huge construction drainage pipes. Peep the attached videos to see what I mean. Tables to sit on. Benches. Not much shade unfortunately but some small trees and an awning. Some rocks but mostly dirt and gravel. In the adjacent fenced in area you have some trees and shade. Large area to run around with the pups. Mini lake for the dogs to swim or wade in when it's hot. Rad place. Unfortunately I don't live close but next daytime trip to Ft. Collins I'll definitely bring the dog. read more

I bet this place is really nice in the summertime. I left 4 stars due to it being under construction. It was also wintertime and the whole place was a sheet of ice. But otherwise it seemed like a good park. I'll definitely try it out in the summer. Looks like it has a nice water hole for the pups too (although drained due to construction). read more

This is our favorite dog park. Even though it's quite a bit of a drive, it's worth it. During the summer they have the pool filled with water that allows the dogs to cool off while playing fetch and interacting with other pups. Ours love to swim! I suggest wearing your least favorite clothes and shoes as they will get drenched and full of mud. The play area is massive, which is great for our hyper dogs who love running around and fetching. They are both extremely social and enjoy running around with the other dogs. I see that a lot of reviews are in regards to their pets being attacked, but it's not at fault of the park. It's at fault of pet owners. I've witnessed lots of fights, but never any where blood has been drawn, or where anything bad has happened. Just some whining. Be wary of your own pets and constantly keep an eye on them. There is also a separate play area for smaller dogs or larger dogs who don't socialize well, which I love. The park itself is huge and there's plenty of spots to walk your dogs, or even take your kids to play at the playground! Great area all around. read more

This dog park is great, honestly, its the best one i've ever been to, i'm pretty sure my chihuahua agrees. Its super big, which is nice for my little guy because he likes going to the dog park but isn't such a social dog as a 'loves to explore off his leash' dog. Even though he's tiny hes pretty alpha which is good cause sometimes people ignore there big dogs and he has to assert him self to keep him self from getting humped or harassed. However this isn't an issue with this dog park, its more just part of owning a toy sized dog. Which does lead me to one of the two issues at this park. Most people are really good about keeping an eye on their dog however some people will let there large puppies or sometimes 'overly friendly' dogs run wild. Once i had a dog run up and start trying to mark me, i dodged most of it but some got on my shoe, which was annoying, a simple 'no' from the owner could have prevented that. The other problem with this park is people aren't as diligent about picking up their puppy's poop as i wish. However if you step into some dog poop at a dog park... well that's probably your own fault. If i where on a farm i wouldn't wear my nicest shoes and i certainly would be checking the ground for dung. The park features 3 areas: the completely empty small / timid dog area - not a lot of people own tiny dogs so its always empty. the main non water area - which is where everyone hangs out during the colder months. and the water area, which is where about 60% of the dogs will be during the summer. The two main areas are huge and pretty cool, my dog digs them. Overall though this dog park rocks, its MASSIVE and has pretty much any feature a puppy could want in a dog park. read more

Crisscrossing the country with your dog allows one to compare many dog parks and beaches in many different municipalities. Although Spring Canyon was the only park I was able to visit in Fort Collins, I was impressed with all the options available for its residents and visitors. The dog park is large, well placed and one of the nicer dog parks my dog Hunter and I have visited. Unfortunately, it is also a fiesta of crap. I have never been to a park that had this amount of dog droppings. There is crap everywhere! I'm not aware of the demographics of Fort Collins, but this dog park seemed to be completely occupied by twenty-somthing slackers draped over the cement culverts pecking away on their iphones. For christ-sake kids, try being a little bit of a good neighbor and pick up after your dog. The tax paying citizens of this town paid for a nice park for you to use, you at least could show a little respect by keeping it clean. read more

As far as dog parks go, this one is pretty nice. Three separate areas, one for small dogs, one for all sizes and one with a swimming pond. Lots of room for dogs to romp and run. As with all dog parks, my concerns stem from some of the dogs and owners that frequent this park. I've had my on leash dogs confronted by unfriendly off-leash dogs while we are still in the parking lot, and I tend to be overwhelmed by the poor social skills of the majority of the dogs that I see here. If you're willing to take the risk and/or go at off hours (when you'll see me), then it's a nice place to let dogs burn off some steam. read more

This dog park is really big and really fun for the pups however my dog has been attacked twice and gotten Giardia from the water so we stay away from the park. There seem to be a lot of aggressive dogs at the park so just take caution with your dog and I wouldn't let them drink the water or swim in the lake because that was not fun! read more

This is an awesome dog park! There is plenty of room for the puppies to run around and play, and there's even a "pond" for them to play in during the summer. They put a fence and gate around the pond area to save the puppy parents from having a wet/dirty dog if they don't want one! I also have to say that I love the view from the park. You get an awesome view of Horsetooth and the foothills, so really pretty sunsets! It's also a great place to just go around Spring Canyon park by yourself or with your pups. One thing I would like to mention... PLEASE watch your puppies while at the dog park! I like to think of them like children... you shouldn't just bring them to a playground then leave them alone. They need supervision. I am lucky to have a very friendly, well-behaved dog, but some people don't! I have seen a few dog fights here, and it's usually caused by dogs that are obviously aggressive (fighting/growling, etc. with many other dogs) and really shouldn't be at the dog park. These dogs are usually seen with "parents" that don't watch them and make sure they're behaving. So please, if you're dog is not well-behaved, don't take it to the dog park, or at the very least, watch your dog closely and do what you need to keep other dogs safe and happy. And for those of you who have friendly, well-behaved dogs, still watch your dog, if for no other reason than to make sure it doesn't become a victim. :) read more

There are fewer happier places than a nice dog park. This place is big and wide, and even has an area for shy dogs. Every time I've been here, there's been a good number of dogs--not too many, but not too few where your dog is going to be like, "Is this it?" Lots of balls left behind for impromptu play time, poo bags, and water bowls with afresh water source to boot. Located at the base of the foothills, makes for a great hour or so being outside. The good: plenty of room and fun stuff for the dogs to play on/around. The bad: it's a dog park, so dress like it. read more

This is a great dog park for dog owners that want to let their pooch romp and run. This park is huge! It big enough that if you have a shy dog that you can isolate yourself in a corner and let them look around and relax without a bunch of curious dogs mobbing yours and wanting to smell her rear and freaking her out.(There are smaller pens too to go into for shy dogs) The Spring Creek/Canyon Park that this dog park is a part of is also a very nice park for Fort Collins to have! read more

One of the largest dog parks I've been too! Very spacious and pretty well maintained. Several different areas for big dogs and a large separate area for shy or small dogs. One thing I really like is there are rakes and scoopers scattered about the park so you can dispose of your pets waste without using a plastic bag! read more

Our first visit to Spring Canyon was not a pleasant one. Our second try wasn't much better. It was a little cleaner this time, there was a man picking up poop, not a city employee just a man there with his dog. I really want to like this dog park. It's big. It's in town. It's got an area for swimming etc. but the dogs that have been here are pretty aggressive and after today I've just had it. Some dog latched on to another ones neck and wouldn't let go. Not a normal dog park play fight. Plus the pond area makes it messy because even though it's fenced, the wet dogs go back into the main park and get the other dogs muddy! Taking my dog to the park to get his butt kicked in the mud is not my kind of fun. read more

Awesome dog park! The park had very effective safety gates to get in and ou which I would think most dog owners would appreciate. This park is pretty large and it was very clean and maintained. There is one section for shy/ small dogs, and 2 sections for other dogs. One large section is dry with benches for dog owners to sit in the middle (with canopy) and water pump for dogs. Then connected to this section is another grass section with a pond and bridge. Dogs were swimming and jumping of of the bridge, my dog had so much fun! read more

I really love this dog park. It is so big, giving the dogs a large area to run around. There is a pond, my dog never used it, but its there for the ones that like water. Its close to town, so its not a large trek from anywhere. I really miss coming to this park now that I don't live in the area anymore. I did have one bad experience with a german shepherd that latched onto my 25 lbs mutt. He was super focused on my dog. I got him to let go but then he wouldn't leave him alone. His owner was unapologetic and never did step up to control his dog. Whenever I'm in Fort Collins, though, I stop in. read more

I have been meaning to visit this dog park for a long time but haven't because I live across town. I finally made the trek today and I have to be honest- I wish I hadn't. Yes this park is well crafted with smart details like double gates and a leash hook by the entrance but that can't make up for the poop. OH THE POOP! I understand that everybody poops, I have no problem with poop. I take my dogs to all sorts of parks including our neighborhood one that is much smaller (and has no pond sadly) and has an occasional rogue poop that I am happy to pick up. Unfortunately I could have literally (as in truly- no hyperbole here) filled a 5 gallon bucket with all the dog poop on the ground. We stayed and played anyway (pups didn't care about the poop) until a couple showed up with a male that wasn't neutered (not cool) so we left. Such a disappointment in a community like Fort Collins. p.s. My dogs smelled so terrible I had to bathe them when we got home. read more

A truly lovely dog park. Everyone here is kind and the dogs absolutely love the lake and trees. They dance with excitement in the car and have so much fun making friends and running around. If you don't like this park, you're too uptight. Sure, there's a dog turd someone forgot to pick up every now and then. But pick it up and make the park your own! Our 3 month old puppy Alice was attacked by another dog at this park on Sunday July 8th, 2017 at 12:30pm. She had a huge tear in her abdomen and had to be treated at the vet's. This dog park doesn't monitor the animals there and too many aggressive dogs are showing up. We will never take her here again and I have recommended all my friends with pets to spread the word that this Dog Park is not safe for your Furbabies. read more

Possibly the best dog park on the front range. There are two divided areas. The main area is pretty large with both grass and gravel. There are small obstacles that the dogs can run through. There is also seating with shade for human companions. Water fountain for the dogs although it gets shutoff during the winter. The second space is a large pond for the dogs but that is also drained during the winter. This park even has separate smaller enclosed spaces within the main fenced in area for smaller or shy dogs. If you've never taken your pet to a dog park before, this is one is great because there is guaranteed to be something to do for every type of dog. read more

New to the area and visited here. Awesome dog park. My furbaby loves it. Good size with some fun doodads to climb. Great walking trails. Only wish the little lake was working/full when I went so my little guy could swim. Also, the water fountains weren't working (but maybe that's temporary or weather related)? If it wasnt basically the only choice I wouldnt go there. At first sight it seems like a nice place but first it is cut in half. one of those halves has a giant dirty water feature that isnt in use for 1/2 the year and the other half of the park has two mini dog parks that are never in use and only server to take up more space. It becomes so over crowded... Im really surprised that a city with such a high dog population has such a lack of resources for their four legged friends. read more

We love this big park. It has three separate enclosures--one for small dogs, one with a swimming pond, and a large general run area. It's nice because my dog gets overwhelmed with other dogs after a while and enjoys the quieter pond area in the winter, where he can explore off leash. read more

11/30/2012 Injury Incident Dog Owners Beware: There is a woman (approx 60 yo, shoulder length light brown/graying hair) with 2 unsocialized, aggressive bear-hunting dogs from Alaska who is trying to socialize her dogs by hanging out with them on extension leashes at the gate entrance to the dog park. One dog is large and black, the other medium sized and a warm brown. For anyone who witnessed this, the woman was wearing a blue button up long-sleeved flannel type shirt and black pants. My dog ran up to greet them and they attacked her (she was on leash but had darted out of the car when I was getting my child out of her car seat so I lost my grip on her leash. I called and chased my dog knowing she would go directly to the gate entrance and wait). The dog owner owner stood by doing nothing except yelling that her dogs are unsocliaized as they both got my dog's neck and head in a jaw grip. I had to get in the middle of the fight to pull my dog out. I see lots of dogs walking without a leash from the car to the entrance gate and if they are at all friendly and want to greet them, any of these dogs are at risk of being attacked by these 2 dogs on leashes as the owner cannot control her dogs even when they are ON leashes. Afterwards, on my vet's advice whom I had called on the phone immediately, I tried to get the owner's info but the owner refused and left the area. My 3 year old daughter was also standing right there outside the gate to the dog park. Those dogs should not be anywhere near where they can physically contact other dogs or kids until they are professionally socialized away from aggression inducing environments like being on-leash or at fence/boundary areas. My dog suffered 3 deep tooth puncture wounds and is on antibiotics and pain killers. The police would not even release enough info about the owner to my vet to verify that the attack dogs are vaccinated/licensed etc. Please beware of this woman and her dogs, and protect your dogs and kids from a possible encounter with them. Educate her on effective and safe socializing methods if possible. read more

This is an awesome dog park! It's not like any I've seen before, it's huge! It's so nice because all the dogs aren't forced to be super close. There is more than enough space and different sections for the dogs to stay comfortable. The swimming pond in the summer is great too! It's cleaner than you would think for a dog park pond. The dog park is cleaner than you'd think it'd be. They encourage you to pick up after your dog and make it easy to do. It's not somewhere we go in the winter or when it's wet outside, because then it's all mud. But in the summer, we go at least once a week! We haven't had any problems with mean dogs. We've seen a couple minor dog fights, this can be very overwhelming for some dogs. Our only problem was with a dog that was intact still, which I think should be a rule that those kinds of dogs aren't allowed in the dog park. He was vicious and it was clear fault of the owner who shouldn't have brought her dog anyway. Other than that, it's great! Tons of parking, tons of space! read more

There is to few people that pick up after their dogs at this park. Come on people. Dirty. Lots of room with two separate areas. For that it is nice. No trees but one shaded area with picnic table and a few benches around the area. All dirt and small stones. All in all, I have found cleaner places. read more
