Let me start by saying that I am by no means an avid tanner, and my preference is to lie out and soak in the sun's natural rays. I have used a tanning bed just about a dozen times over the years, but I am always weary that I may start to look orange and that people will tell I fake n' bake. That weariness also keeps me away from the sunless lotions and especially spray tanning. I had plans few weekends ago to go out for a night on the town in celebration of my brother's divorce. I wasn't feeling especially hot and/or sexy due to my extreme pastiness (thank you Chicago weather), so I decided to take advantage of a free Spray session I had won. I was extremely skeptical and nervous going in thinking that I would turn out looking radioactive. To my great surprise I can tell you that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED MY SPRAY!! Although they will come to you (BONUS!), I opted to drive over to Kelly's (the owner) house, which is only a few minutes from where I am. She is extremely friendly and made me feel at ease the moment I walked in the door. Before we got started she went ahead and told me a bit about herself, the company and the product. WOW!! This woman REALLY knows her STUFF!! I was super impressed by her knowledge of the industry. She has about 20 years experience (give or take a few) from working in salons and managing them. She shared with me her story of searching for the best and healthiest glow for your skin, because as an avid tanner herself, having that natural, HEALTHY glow is very important to her. I was in complete comfort during the actual spray, which took about 20-30 mins. My only warning goes out to those who are super ticklish. At times it was difficult not to jump or get into giggle fits. The tan that I ended up with was perfect and definitely natural looking. I received numerous compliments on how great it looked. I even had coworkers who thought I had been on vacation over the weekend. I will most definitely see Kelly again the next time my skin is in dire need of some color. I will also opt to have her come to my own home to avoid having my seat belt rub off some of the color on my shoulder! (it was unnoticeable when it dried and I'd rather be safe than sorry) Being able to lounge around the house while the tan dries would be preferable opposed to carefully putting clothes back on after the session. We did take extra precautions (like standing in front of a fan) before I put my clothes back on, but why not avoid the hassle all together and have the tan come to me?! DUH! Discovered Spray via Groupon. I missed out on the deal, but my girlfriend bought one so I checked out the website. As an avid tanner I was surprised to find how affordable and easy Spray was. In preparation for a trip to Vegas I took advantage of a current promotion which brought the price right in line with what I would pay for a Mystic (which I wouldn't do anyway cause it turns me orange). Sprayed on a Wednesday night, vacation started on Saturday...timing ended up being perfect. Kelly came to the house and gave a complete overview of the process. She's very sweet and someone I am totally comfortable having in my home. While Spraying I learned how she got into the business and how tanning has evolved. All very fascinating to me. My tan was awesome from the second it was applied. I didn't shower for a full 24 hours (if you can do it I highly recommend waiting as long as you can) so I could maximize the time I would have it. It easily lasted 7-10 days and I was in the pool three days straight. I was prepared to lose it just from being in the pool, but I think since I waited to shower it helped alot. I have stayed away from the beds for awhile now, use a self bronzer a majority of the time and spray tan when I have a special occasion. I will NEVER go to a local tanning place again. Beside the fact that Spray comes to you, the nice even color and time the tan lasts can't be beat. Oh, and don't forget the awesome natural botanicals that Spray offers...its vitamins for your skin. So being an irish pale-skinned white girl you can imagine the nightmare i had when i first tried "the spray tan" a few years ago at an LA Tan. I vowed to never be tan or orange again and then i found spray! For a recent photoshoot i decided to give it a try. A friend of mine explained to me that spray's unique machine has a dial with 30 levels to customized your tan! I am white so i dont need to be brown i just looked like i had a healthy glow! I am also a hairdresser always on my feet and it concealed my veins in my legs so nice! i felt great in my dress! Guess who got her 3rd spray tan with Spray Chicago??? I had to come back to Kelly; she took such good care of me for my wedding ;) I have a wedding rehearsal and graduation ceremony this Saturday and a wedding on Sunday and can't wait to show off my natural looking tan. I love the fact that Kelly keeps record of the shade # of tan u got in the past and so I went with the same shade from my wedding and am as pleased as I was the first 2 times. Woo who! Finally figured out how to get a good airbrush tan while living in the suburbs. I needed to figure out where I was going to get bronzed for my wedding and Kelly from Spray took care of me. Came to my house, popped up a tent in my garage and the magic began. I have done a lot of spray tanning (machine and air-brush) before and what I liked best was that this was convenient (they come to your house!) it dried a lot faster than other tans I have gotten, I didn't feel like I couldn't breathe or was sucking in all the spray tanning solution and of course it was evenly applied! Had many spray tans before and by far this is the best. Kelly knows what she is talking about regarding the solution, skin pre care, tan after care and will customize the perfect shade for you. i prefer to be darker and she gave me an amazing color that lasted days longer than any other place i tried! I had such a great experience with Spray! I have done a lot of spray tanning in Chicago, and this was the best experience I have had.
