This is notable for being one of a modicum of local businesses that are open early, and in particular a place that one can stock up before traveling to nearby Cumberland Island, which does not have food. I perused the baked goods for a while before settling on a spinach croissant and a blueberry muffin. Having transported them out to the island, I did smush them a little bit, but both items delivered about as well as you could expect; there were a lot of blueberries in my muffin and it remained moist, and my croissant was both flaky and full of actual spinach. With all those whole plants, it's almost like I brought a salad with me. Almost. It's not a huge shop, and not the kind of place where you'd go for special dietary needs baking or items other than baked goods. But within its niche, it delivers good quality stuff. read more

Quaint, little bakery cafe with delicious pastries, sandwiches, and paninis! The service was super friendly. Locals love this place! A must-try in St. Mary's! There are 6 tables available if you want to sit and enjoy your or afternoon coffee. The bakery clerk was super sweet. And everything we tried was hot and made to perfection. They have everything from donuts to danishes, as well as breakfast sandwiches and burritos to paninis and lunch sandwiches (only available 11am-2pm). I had the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches. The bread was buttered and toasted perfectly. The sandwich tasted so good! I also tried the broccoli, onion, and zucchini quiche, which was my favorite. It had a flakey crust, and perfectly cooked egg. So tasty! For my dessert I had a large brownie slice with nuts. I first heard of Spouses from the folks in a class that I attended. Told me about how good their sandwiches and pastries were. Then again from my lady at the spa and told me to make sure to try their Keylime Cake. Fast forward to 1 year after, I finally found my way to grab lunch to go after an appointment in Saint Marys. Got a Club Sandwich for my husband and Brisket and Eggs Sandwich for me. I was really looking forward to having their Keylime Cake but they already ran out. Though the nice young lady gave me a tip to call in ahead of time to see if they have any available. And by the way, it's only available on Fridays. I arrived at Spouses around an hour before they close (they close at 2pm) and it was quiet. Not sure how busy they get on a daily - but if they do, just keep in mind that there is very limited parking available. My husband and I could've shared a sandwich because it was packed! I'm not kidding, the Club Sandwich was probably about 2 inches thick. The bread is buttery toasted too. The Brisket Sandwich is not that thick, but they haven't skimped on the Brisket either. For dessert, I grabbed a couple of their brownies and a Lemon Cake which were both delicious. The brownies reminds me of homemade brownies that I'd probably have from someone's mom's house. We had breakfast sandwiches here July 7th, We've had bakery items before. The place is great. Get your coffee from an urn, order and sit down. Navy and Coast Guard took up almost every table. They are baking their own bread. The egg sandwiches are fantastic. Once before my wife had gotten a bacon, egg and cheese and I had a bite and wanted more. So our favorite breakfast spot is closed for vacation so we came here. I had the sausage, egg and cheese and it was filling and delicious. The bread is amazing. I'll take pictures next time. Wifey had the usual bacon egg and cheese on an English muffin. Pretty sure that was homemade too. Just a cozy little place. When we move into our new house we'll be closer so this could be a regular spot for us. Service is just fine they bring your food out after ordering at the counter. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately with friendly service and impressed by such a delicious selection of pastries. Found Spouses on Yelp and decided to take a drive to try them out. It was easy to find coming from northern FL. Small, nondescript building with a decent sized parking lot. The employee waiting on me was super sweet. I got the bacon quiche and ham croissant. I wanted a cinnamon roll but they only make them on Saturday mornings (I will make the drive back). The bacon quiche was perfect. Creamy and smooth with just enough bacon in it and the crust was straight up homemade pie worthy. The ham croissant was also delish! Find this place if you're looking for brunch and are anywhere near St Mary's, GA. The people are great and food is delicious. I had the brisket breakfast sandwich, and it was terrific! I'm not a big fan of Kaiser rolls, but theirs was melt-in-your-mouth fresh. My wife had a unique cheddar croissant, which was also fresh and flakey. We picked up two types of quiche for later in the day on our way out, which also went down well. My only minor complaint is the coffee was good (drinkable), but not great. I think they could easily work on that and get an even bigger following. I look forward to trying more of their menu when I find myself back in the neighborhood. read more

I was recommended Spouses Bakery from Michelle of the "Sweet Spot and Urban Lounge: fame. She did NOT disappoint! There was SOOOOOOOOO much to choose from at their Beaver Street Farmer's Market location! I went around 11AM on a Saturday and was shocked to see the majority of their goods already snatched up by happy patrons! While I was only there to buy some savory pasties, I saw delicious goods that begged to come back for! I picked up a Prime Rib pastie and a Spinach and Asiago Pastie. We heated the items up before we indulged and they were INCREDIBLE! I've had pasties in England and these were BETTER! I think my favorite was the Spinach and Asiago. I loved how savory and cheesy it was! They were perfectly flaky, perfectly seasoned, perfectly PERFECT! You could even say they were quite magical!!! The Harry Potter themed lunch was a hit!
