First visit here to see an excellent film true story ! Concession and ticket staff employee was extremely friendly !!! I sat down alone for a film particular time and 10 min later it hadn't started went out to tell staff. Then when film started after commercials the lights went on so had to go out again to tell him to ask person to get the lights off. We were the only ones in the theater for a 7 pm screening of Song Sung Blue, and the CC was on for those who were hearing impaired. We kindly asked if they could be turned off once the movie was well underway because we, again, were the only ones in the theater, and they were distracting. We were told that it would take 20 minutes to turn them off, so the answer was a no, which was sort of understandable. However, the tipping point for me personally was that there was so much refuse, including old candy, popcorn, and other concessions, all over the carpet in every direction- almost asking for a rodent infestation. The tape used to hold parts of the stairs to the upper seating area together was half off. The seats were so filthy that brown stains of oil and soil were visible on all of them throughout Theater 3. I was honestly afraid of rodents throughout the whole movie since there was so much food covering the floor. Please use a vacuum at least once a day; it's a health hazard for the community otherwise. I say this as a concerned parent and caring community member. The place is absolutely filthy. read more

Absolutely ATROCIOUS do NOT go to this theater if you expect to have a good movie experience, if you can get to Kingston, I would definitely go to regal cinemas instead. The popcorn is worse than microwave quality, the drinks are always flat and watered down, their candy tastes like someone laced it with weird flavoring, and don't even get me started on the seats and movie itself. Gross. There was caution tape marking off seats that had fallen into one another, marking off seats where the ceiling had fallen over them, and the like. It looked like a crime scene. Went to see Deadpool 2 at 1:15. Theater 1. The one with the big sign that says Deadpool 2. At 1:30 the previews hadn't started so I went out to ask. Was told we were in the wrong theater. We missed the hidden away in the corner one on the left. So we asked if we could go to the 1:40 showing instead since we already missed the beginning. The guy working said he couldn't help us but his manager could. We talked to her and she said we can't have a refund. We explained we didn't want a refund, we just wanted to see the movie we paid for. She was rude right from the start. Her name is Heather. So I again tried to explain that we hadn't seen any of the movie and we're not looking to get a refund, we just want to see what we paid for. She said technically it is a refund. Then the guy added that they have ticket counters that come in and check on this stuff and they could get in trouble. (We were the only people in the theater). They weren't going to do anything to right this situation so we left. They owe us $16 and I want to make sure that everyone knows to never go to this theater. We didn't want a refund. My grandson, daughter and I saw The Seth Rogen Ninja Turtles movie yesterday in 3D at Spotlight. The quality of the screening was awful. The image was very indistinct, and I had to take my 3D glasses off to see at all. I wondered if something was wrong with my eyes, but my eyes are fine. There was too much light in the theater, and the popcorn wasn't good. Although the film is dark, on my phone the trailer had a lot of vibrant, bright colors in each scene. i went here years ago to see the movie Scoob and couldn't even stay the whole movie because the theater itself was DISGUSTING. My feet were sticking to the floor and my arms were getting stuck to the armrest. i heard the place got redone so i decided to go again a few days ago and i saw the movie Fall Guy. the concession stand was filthy with food all over it, the floors were sticky and none of the seats had arm rests but one row. the only good thing was the movie since you know they keep the sound on 100. for being the only theater in Hudson right now, you'd think they would get their stuff together and learn how to clean. read more

Very mid establishment, good but bad food I rate this place 7/10, only good worker is Manuel Ramos very valid but the manager was very rude. I will go back if the manager is fired and Manuel Ramos and put head as manager but he gets to pick his hours, working like a dog day and night, also he plays fire music when she's gone, he always is in the bathroom tho not sure why but I'm sure he's just cleaning like a good worker! Staff pleasant. They work both tickets and food counter. The place is run down. We went to see jumanji and the theatre looked like no one bothered to sweep in between movie showings. Bathrooms are upkept but not sparkling clean. It's not a place we go to other than the fact its conveniently by the shopping. I was very disappointed today when I went to our local theater. I have not been there for several months and may never go back. I am so tired of hearing "well, everything costs more these days." I used to go on Tuesdays as the tickets were $5. I understand that is now $6.50. Today, I asked for a senior ticket. $8.50. They used to have a popcorn and soda mega deal that u could get a free refill. That is not available any longer. They do have deals, but nothing that is close and no refills. The girl stood at a register to take my order. There are lighted signs but no menu listed. I said, "What do u offer and the prices", and I was directed to look further down the counter. Crazy setup! They did say, though, that the place is clean. When I went in to get a seat, there was popcorn on the seats, and I had to go down several rows. I am fully aware of price gouging, and I feel that the new owners have forgotten that it is the locals that help keep the doors open. Popcorn only costs so much. As I was leaving, there was a gentleman who was purchasing 5 tickets as he had several kids with him. After getting in and possibly hitting the concession stand, I'm sure everything was well over $100. I used to take my 2 grandkids every other weekend to this theater. That would not be happening at Spotlight Theater in Hudson today. read more

Do NOT give this theater your business. Went to see Star Wars here tonight, it was playing in Theater 1. Turns out, the speakers are broken. At least two of the surround speakers just aren't working. At first the staff at the concession stand said "it's just the commercials, the movie will be fine," but when the movie started and the sound was NOT fine, the staff said that actually the OWNER was aware the speakers were broken and just didn't want to fix them. Their solution? "You're welcome to go see the later showing." But guess what? That screening is in 3D and they wanted to charge us MORE for those tickets despite the inconvenience. To make matters worse, ALL of the theaters keep the courtesy lights *ON* during the movie. Please go to the Lyceum in Red Hook instead! The staff is friendly, the owners care about the viewers' experience, and we feel good supporting this wonderful local business. read more

Been a few times now. Even after reading soon less than stellar reviews. Friendly enough staff. Looks like a family. Mom dad and two big boys. Great prices for matinee. Wow the concessions area is loaded with goodies. Even ice cream. The popcorn is excellent. With or without extra butter. Off to the theater to find our seats. Kinda like a small maze but not hard to get to. On first look. Really rather messy with popcorn and papers all over floor and seats. And the seats were in fact pretty badly stained. We're searched for a couple of seats with minimal damage. We thought that it wouldn't have took very much effort or time for someone to grab a vacuum cleaner and/or broom and dust pan. To give a quick clean up. The reviews stated that the new owners were indeed trying to update with new seats. But not yet in this theater. But still all in all not a total failure. Sound was good visually screen ok. We've been back a few times anyway. Still hoping to see new updates. Like I said great popcorn!! read more

One star is too high for this atrocity of a movie theater. The barely human being of a hag that works at the front desk was extraordinarily rude to me and my friends, who were just simply trying to watch a movie. Even the employee in charge of selling tickets was astronomically ignorant he on multiple occasions showed ineptitude to his job. My friend asked for two tickets one for himself and one for his girlfriend. The employee sold him one, and then proceeded to scream at him and accuse them of trying to sneak into the theatre. I can't only mention the awful customer service, but the theater itself is also worse than a pigsty. The bathroom is that of a prison cell and the movie theater itself was covered in a sticky substance, making it almost hard to walk. The chairs themselves were somehow dusty yet crusted with popcorn, and the smell of "ass"perforated the whole room. I immediately walked out and refunded my ticket. Will never go back. Worried I might be assaulted if I try and come back in. read more

The people are very nice the theater was clean including the restrooms, the popcorn and soda could be larger most theater's would consider Spotlights mediums. Popcorn and soda is excellent tasting , the biggest reason for only 4 stars the seats are in pretty bad shape. You can find good ones but you may have to try a few out first. read more

I refused to go to the Hudson Movieplex 8 because of the terrible reviews of cleanliness and overall experience. I was thrilled to find out the theatre was bought, now Spotlight Cinemas, and needed renovations were done. I just saw a movie there and was very happy with the experience!!!! The owners don't seem to want to improve this place in any noticeable way and its very unimpressive. They have no competition nearby. I expect they will go out of business as soon as a challenger emerges like the local gym did when Planet Fitness arrived in the neighborhood. read more

This theater is great. I always have the best movie experiences here. Everyone is always nice and polite. For example, when I saw Ant-Man and The Wasp the theater was full of little kids that looked to be below the age of ten and they were all quiet except directly after jokes. Went here to see a movie this past weekend. All was well until the power went out due to severe thunderstorms about an hour into the movie. This is obviously out of the control of the theater, but there continued to be a struggle with restarting the movie for about a half hour after the power was restored (starting where it left off, restoring sound, etc). Eventually we decided to leave and get a pass to come back another day. The staff working was young and apologetic but, after a cell phone call with what I assume was the manager, told us that they wouldn't refund us or give us passes because this was "an act of God." So... we wasted a bunch of money and time, and definitely will choose another theater next time :( read more

The young girl with the long hair and glasses clearly would rather have been somewhere else. As could the other 4 people "working" there at the time. We spent $100 including concessions, she couldn't be bothered to make coffee for us and gave us an attitude when we requested it. Another thing was when we went back for our free pop-corn refill they put our dirty bag that had been on the floor IN the pop-corm maker, contaminating all of the pop-corn that it was sitting on, it also fell over, spilling the remnants of the pop-corn left in our bag into the machine. We get there for a 7:35pm movie. The guy at the desk explains to us that the movie started at 7 and we can go in late, we inform him that online it says 7:35. He is adamant we are wrong until a coworker than proves him wrong. Next the manager wouldn't know costumer service if it hit her in the face! She was extremely rude to us when we went to inform her about some teenagers that were a disturbance in the theater. She quickly shut us down with "I already know about it. What do you want me to do about?! Maybe if you had come earlier we would've done something." She was rude and condescending to us and we will not be going back. We've gone here plenty of times. The staff are pleasant but their theaters are filthy. Their seats are disgusting. I had some girls sit behind me and when they sat down all I smelt was pee. They were suppose to be red seats but they were grey with filth. I understand your not going to steam clean the seats every week but at lest every 3-6 months. Their bathrooms were dirty too. Not so much the toilets but the sinks and the floor. It looks like all they do is sweep it not mop it. read more

Went to a Friday afternoon matinee. The place was filthy. Bathrooms looked and smelled like a bus station. Overpriced, disinterested staff.

This is a decent theater for an independent establishment. The reason for the rating is that they tried to charge me $2.50 for my 8 month old to see Jurassic Park 3D. They didn't bring that up until after they issued the tickets, I entered, looked for the glasses thinking the usher would have them, gave up and went back to the counter. I tried to argue the case, but the staff, with the exception of the lady at the concession area, didn't seem too bright. It occurred to me after I got my money back and left, that the extra charge may be for the glasses, but I did not ask for glasses for the baby. If they had offered, I would have refused - he'd just put an eye out anyway. Dumb policy. I won't go back anytime soon. read more

I Go to this theater often. The staff that I have worked with are helpful and pleasant. Any issues that have come up have been fixed and if they couldn't then they were rectified in another manner. This is the theater I have been going to since I was a kid and will continue to go to in the future. read more
