Absolute nasty business, and I wish I could give them -100 star. Their name is sports experts but they are actually the expert for rip you off. We rented a few ski sets and when we return it, they claim the ski is cracked and charged me $350 for it. The "crack" is almost invisible, and more importantly, it could totally be a normal wear and tear. The "expert" Keiran admitted we are "unlucky" that the ski broke on our hands, totally despite the fact that the ski could reach its lifetime. If they rented out the ski out 20 times and it broke at the 20th customer, the unlucky 20th customer must replace the whole set? What a business! And despite they claim they are the "expert", they messed up my daughter's snowboard, and give her (10 year old) a snowboard for 5 year old, according to the snowboard instructor at sunshine village ski site, however they gave me refund at last. I bet that's the reason that they claim the ski is broken and charge me for that. The refund is like 20 somthing and the charge of the ski is $350, and tax on top. Generally, nasty place, if you don't mind to be ripped off, please continue to shop there. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!!!!! My father and I rented two sets of skis and were told by a sales associate "Make sure to get the insurance, because there are a lot of rocks out there." We bought the insurance, as recommended. Sure enough there were rocks and the cheap skis cracked. When we returned them we were informed that the actual ski was not insured and were forced to pay for both pairs. Why have any insurance if not to cover the skis?? Simple con. The manager came out yelling "You should have skied where you were supposed to." "My sales people told you about what the insurance 'covers'." (Which they didn't). We hadn't gone under a single rope or out of bounds part of the mountain. I do not appreciate being called a liar or swindled. They give you cheap skis hoping you break them so you are forced to pay for them. Greasy. Also, do not buy your goggles here either, I bought a pair and got to the car realizing they were heavily scratched, they would not take them back. Been skiing 29 years and this takes the cake. read more

The rental program is an absolute scam. The shop denied us rental insurance and then charged us the full rental cost plus retail value of 3 sets of skis that were not broken. As we attempted to document the "damage" they took a box cutter to one of the skis before we were able to get full proof. It really felt like we were set up to fail from the beginning. They told us conditions were marginal and then gave us all new skis (which we neither expected nor asked for). We were all experienced skiers that have rented several times in Canada and abroad and this was by far the worst experience we have had. read more

I wrote the same review on Google, but found them on Yelp so wanted to give a review here too! Been on a ski holiday for a week so far and have gone in several times. They have been fantastic on all fronts, from apparel to buying skis to ski tuning. The staff have an almost Encyclopedic level of knowledge of their line, but also seem to give very unbiased advice, they didn't push just what they had in stock which I really appreciate! They've been very accommodating with their overnight tuning service, and the quality of ski tune is great. I had an old pair of Heads that were in very sore shape and they managed to get them looking close to new! Lastly, every staff member we have talked to at the shop has been very friendly and clearly seem interested in helping people out. I have left every time being happier and happier that I stumbled into this shop! Expertise: 5/5 (with multiple staff members) Tuning: 5/5 Customer service: 5/5 They will be my first call whenever I come to Banff/Canmore, and I would thoroughly recommend them for anything ski related! read more

We came here in October to look at the demo skis that were on sale at that time. The staff were extremely helpful when it came time to select some demo skis, which were extremely affordable. We have been very happy with the skis we selected and have used them numerous times this winter. They also had some brand new ski boots and snowboard boots on sale, which my husband took advantage of. Great place and awesome staff. read more

Great experiences here twice so far on our visit to Canmore. Got some coats at end of season prices - still with good selection. Came back the next day with a broken ski break and the pro shop team went out of our way to get us back and running in minutes with some product scoured from the shop. There are quality outdoor goods stores in the Bow valley. Sports Experts is not one of them. Customer service is well below my expectations. I have shopped at Sports Experts since 2010. My first purchase there was Columbia jacket. I paid $175. A few years ago the zipper started to catch, but I continued to wear it. The catch was about 1/3 down from the top, so it was OK to wear on warmer days. I spoke to someone at quality outdoor sports store and asked if they knew someone who could fix the zipper. They gave me the name and number for a seamstress. They also said that Columbia might do the repairs under warranty, Since I didn't buy it at that store, I took it back to Sports Experts in Canmore. I told them that I would like to know if Columbia would repair the zipper under warranty, I said that if not, I had then name of a seamstress to replace the zipper. No Problem, the salesman took my name and phone number and my jacket. I called Sports Experts two months later to see what was up. They said they had to check with Columbia, and two weeks later I stopped by the store. They still didn't know if the repairs would be made. This week I got a call from their "Warranty Manager" stating that Columbia has offered me $115 store credit. I said that I want my jacket back. The "Warranty Manager" said I can't have it back because they destroyed the jacket. WHAT! They destroyed my favorite jacket. This jacket was irreplaceable since Columbia no longer makes anything like it. When I went to the store, the "Warranty Manger" was completely unsympathetic. His only excuse was that the decision to destroy it was Columbia's. And they had the right to do so. I said, no they didn't. That it was my Jacket and I never gave them permission to destroy my jacket. I phoned Columbia, and said they will return items to the owner when they decide the item is not repairable. The owner has the choice to have the item returned, or receive a credit for a replacement. I learned that the decision to destroy it was based on the information they receive from Sports Experts when they shipped the garment. A decision that the Sports Experts, Warranty Manager made for me, without my permission. I would not be writhing this review today had that Warranty Manager behaved normally. He was completely without any sympathy for my loss, and keep insisting that it was Columbia's policy to destroy items, and that it was his decision. I insisted that they contact Columbia and get my jacket back. I was told by a store manager when I called in later that day that they would look into it. I got a call from another store manager the next day stating that they would offer $200 store credit. So I went to the store yesterday, and discovered they have nothing like my jacket for $200. Their Columbia inventory was very small, and nothing suited me. So I asked for cash. The saleswoman who helped me yesterday was very sympathetic, and offered to call the store owner to check on a cash option. She returned with the original credit amount of $115, but would pay out cash. I was not happy with this, but my options were limited. So I took the cash. I will never shop there again. There are many quality outdoor goods stores in the bow valley and Calgary. Sports Experts is a full price sporting goods store with a discount sporting goods staff. With the exception of the compassionate sales woman who I hope finds a better job someday soon. read more

We shopped there today since we left our hiking boots home in Atlanta. Our service was great, Sydney was really helpful in selecting gear and suggesting hikes. We also purchased some bear spray, and got hands on experience on how to operate the bear spray ( using an empty canister). No, you do NOT spray it on yourself! read more
