Sporting Life customer service helped to investigate what happened when I received an empty shoebox with no shoes in it (purchased for my toddler). While they confirmed the shoes were, in fact, packed, (CCTV photos), I did not receive my purchased item. They need to do better with their delivery/courier service, as it looks like I'm not getting a refund. Will never buy from here again. read more

I am super disappointed with my Sporting Life experience. I heard about them from a friend and thought I would try them out. On September 22, 2020 I purchased a pair of size 6.5 Nikes (the same brand and size as my current runners), I received a shipping notification on September 23, 2020. For the next week, I was unable to track my order so I reached out to Sporting Life, I was told they'd look into it, and magically my tracking number started working...when it did, the status was that my order was sitting in a secured location (what the heck?!) but has not actually moved. I followed up again and was told it was out of their control and they'd have Canada Post investigate, but that would take another 10-15 days. I asked for a refund and they refused, only stating that Canada Post was investigating. Fast forward. I received my shoes, nearly a month later on Sept 16. Keeping in mind, these are the same brand and size as my current runners...oddly, they were actually larger (see pic), however, the hole for the ankle is SO SMALL that there was absolutely no possible way my foot was getting in there. I prepared to package these shoes up so they could be returned, when I found another packing slip, assumingly from someone else who had returned the shoes already. The box was damaged too. I called the yorkdale location and for the first time in years was connected by a live human to another live human named keshaun in footwear. He answered my questions, did not rush me, and was exceptional. This call compelled me to visit. He remembered me and serviced me very professionally along with everyone else who was there. He is an amazing customer service pro. You are blessed with his attitude passion and presence. Patricia at checkout was also wonderful as was Matteo and everyone else in paddleboards. I came in looking for a hat and a polo top last week and I was ignored by one of your employees he never approached me he was to preoccupied looking at his watch. I purchased my whole set of ski equipment here and had them mounted in this location as well. I met some quite nice sales here. The customer service manager Called Dan is quite helpful. But l had a terrible experience today. I realized that my bindings we're mounted too tight. I brought the skis to the store to verify and have them adjusted. This sales Called Drew threw me a big attitude. He showed me a chart and told me it should be set at 5 and refused to provided me any more service. I explained to him that the mounting is showing more than 5, closer to 6.My coach told me they feel the mounting is too tight and ask me to double check. He shouted to me literally "stop" while l was talking to him. When another younger sales tried to help, He shouted at me to that l should stop wasting other people's time. It all happened within the only 3 minutes that l talked to him. I told him his attitude is very rude! Please see the picture of the previous binding. The customer service manager Dan helped me to adjust the skis to 5 and appologized for his rude behavior. I will totally avoid this sales person Drew! I don't know what is on his mind. He looks fine when He was chatting with someone he knows or his friend before me for a long time. I feel he is totally out of control today. His manager appolized for him. Ordered bike online. Attended store only o be told it was sold out and I must not have not received and update. Went back online and still showing in stocks for sale. Tried calling another store in Richmond Hill to confirm. Phone rang 5 different occasions during open business hours. Let it ring over 40 mins each time. Atrocious customer service. Sporting Life is a place I love to browse around and trying on clothes. They carries the latest fashions in ski jackets and down jackets.. both functional and stylish. Of course there is a price tag to match. You can also found newest accessories for the sport persons as gifts and they are all of good qualities. If you are into racquet sports, they do have demo racquets that you can sign out and try before you buy! I think that is an excellent service. The staffs here are all professional and friendly and the selections is just great! However, I usually go to the Sherway Gardens location though, since they have huge markdown all the time. But the staffs and the vibes are not as good as the Yonge Street location. read more

Two of out three times when I ordered through their online site that was shipped from their Toronto store, there were issues with the products, such as blue paint marks on a so-called brand-new Barbour waxed jacket or a missing pair of extra shoe laces on a pair of running shoes. They charged restocking of $10.00 when I returned a Boss tshirt that was too small. They also issued a store credit. Very disappointing. Customer should not be paying that restocking fee. I want a refund for what I paid. I want a refund to my visa. I don't want a store credit, especially in this case!! This is during the Black Friday week. Went to the Hillcrest store to buy a winter coat for my son. Nobody there to help on 3 occasions. I went online. Saw the Markham store had stock. Drove 30 mins to the store. waited 30 mins for help. Finally a disinterested sales assistant went to check. Another 30 mins. No stock. Not even sure he went to check. Ordered it online. Been almost a week now, and nothing. No number to call, and your only recourse is an online email, which they have not responded too. Oh, you cannot cancel online orders either. Worst customer service experience I can remember. Not shopping there again. Not online or in store. For a high end store like this, I expect first world customer service. This feels more like some 3rd world country experience. It will end up with me going to store for a refund, and that will mean a confrontation. Good selection of outfits and shoes. I have a huge problem with how this store is managed, they have more employees than customers in a day hours. I came to shop for shoes and after getting a second pair for me girl in a shoes department started to roll her eyes and let me clearly understand that I am annoying her.... I was the only customer at 11am and they were three customer reps in a department. Finally I found a pair of ASICS, I tried them and put them in a box, sales rep. offered me to live them with the cashier for now, after getting home and opening a box, to my shock, I found a pair of a worn out, obviously returned to the store pair. Had to return them and I will never ever shop in this store again!!! I would NOT recommend ordering online with Sporting Life. They seem to have some serious operational issues. I placed an order during Black Friday sales for which I received a confirmation email, order number and the order was charged to my credit card. When I didn't receive a shipping notification 9 days later, I emailed them and they responded that my order "didn't go through" and would have to be refunded. I replied with questions, wanting to confirm that sale prices would be honoured, since I DID make the purchase, was sent a confirmation and successfully charged. They are clearly too busy or to apathetic to meet the commitments you are making. I have no interest in speaking to anyone at the local store level anymore. I'd like to speak to the Regional, District or National Director please. You've been lovely but this is, very literally, the worst customer service I've ever received. Sporting Life was always my preferred store for Tennis and Bike related goods. Recently I cannot get anything from them. I and my wife had a $50 credit to use at the store (yes, with COVID-19, they were forcing us to go to the store to use it). We went there and both I and my wife could not find anything we could buy, the bike and tennis sections were depressing, one shelf with inventory-stuck items for both. I could not even find Tennis balls to use our credits. Yesterday I had a flat tire on my bike, and I called the store to ask if they could fix, I was closer to my home and would not go there if they said no. They said I could come, for me to only find out they could not fix it as they were out of 700c tubes (really? that is like not having water on a tap). And why to not verify what type of tires I had over the phone? I am disappointed. Too much for trying to keep local business afloat during the pandemic. I will get my tubes on another bike store, and Amazon has plenty. Seriously, since I bought my bike from them in 2017, I have never had service from another store. Since they closed the dedicated bike store, they let go their best bike mechanic, their service is awful. I am not going back for service there. And not having tennis balls and bike tubes? Sorry. Super bad experience. the item I order don't fit, online shopping means your can't try it on. Here you have to PAY THE SHIPPING to RETURN any product, they don't take return in store. And they ask you to pay the shipping fee to return with tracking and insurance which means basically pay half the price of the item. One order was cancelled more than 24 hours later because out of stock The price have come down 2 days later and they refused to adjust the price. My order has gone missing and they are not responding to emails and are hiding behind "long wait times" on their customer service line and not picking up for customer complaints. The told me they had what I had ordered in stock but refused to send me the correct item after I agreed to send back the wrong item. After giving up on getting my original order they sent a shipping label for a courier far from where I lived and expected me to go to that facility to drop the mistake item off. Honestly you want me to go out of my way for your mistake? Sorry but a lot of people don't have time for that! I would like to thank ALEX (sorry I don't know his last name!), the Richmond Hill / Hillcrest Mall store manager who went above and beyond the call of duty to resolve a problem to my absolute satisfaction even though the customer (i.e. me) was completely wrong. It's a long story, but I have to recount it. I received a gift card when I returned a purchase made online. Then I used the gift card to buy something else (online again) and returned part of my new purchase. For my second return, I received a credit via an email from the store. I ignored the email and completely forgot about my second purchase. In my mind, my original gift card had the original credit so it was a complete surprise to me when I decided to use it and I was told by the cashier that it has zero balance. I insisted that the card should have about a $100 balance. The cashier called Alex for help. Alex tried to trace my purchase and return but he had no information that he could use. I could not recall the approximate date of my purchase. After exhausting all software tools in the store he phoned the store's head office. It took some time but the person on the other side of the line (thank you!)  was able to trace the gift card transactions, my other purchase, and my other credit. Alex patiently explained to me what had happened, wrote down the amount of my second credit, took me to the cashier, and stood by until the credit was successfully applied to my latest purchase (which I will not return!!). During this pretty long ordeal, Alex never lost his composure nor his positive and pleasant attitude, even though I'm sure he suspected that I was wrong. Many thanks, Alex, for your professionalism, for not giving up (even though you absolutely could've), and for your help. You won a loyal customer! read more

When I skied, my parents and I would come here at the start of the season each year to get ready! They offer a lot of variety in terms of quality skiing equipment. I bought my ski boots here when I was 14 and I still can use them today (haven't gone skiing in 2 years though). SL also can wax your skis for you. With recent renovations, SL now has a second floor with even more to offer! The sporting equipment is great, but I also like the clothing that they sell. From fashionable winter jackets to Canada Goose goods to Lacoste golf shirts - you can find high end products for anyone. Parking is available on site albeit very tight spots. Service is a hit or miss. With sporting equipment, the staff know what they're talking about. As for the high schoolers working on cash, they could try a little bit harder to represent SL. In store shopping with sporting life has always been fine. Thr Collingwood store burned down so we tried shopping online. Everything about that experience has been a total joke. Their online shopping setup is terrible, they wouldn't apply a discount code they gave me after messing up once anf losing an item, then the replacement order arrived incorrect (still no discount). The hat arrived damaged and still had the store security tag on it. Seriously, the one with the exploding dye. Returns are silly as you just have to mail it back and hope for the best. Have the Sporting Life staff never shopped online in the past decade? I was on the phone with customer service for just over an hour and a half. I was hung up on once. The last person I spoke too promised me that her supervisor would email me back the next day with the problems rectified. Nope. Nothing. I sent another email a few days ago. No reply. Never. Again. I have shopped at this store for many years and regularly go there to outfit my children. Since the store is closed due to the pandemic we have been ordering our summer gear online. I received on order and was missing 3/5 items, the box it came in was so small I seriously doubt the items were stolen by the courier and would bet they never made it into the package. The customer service at Sporting Life was what made you come back, you know your getting overcharged but you pay for service. I will never give them my money again. Their reply to me was to push me off to deal with the delivery service. I just can't believe the poor response and I see why this company has not been as successful as they once were. I'm not very happy with sporting life's inventory system and the staff. They hire a lot of seasonal or part-time staff, where I don' think anyone there is full time, they do not have a lot of knowledge of the products, I browsed for 10 minutes in 1 section and knew more than the staff i was talking to. There is a lot of staff walking around, chatting etc. and some helping customers (there was a huge crowd at the Canada Goose section) and empty in all the other sections. The whole second floor was full of woman's fashion, mostly coats... from Canada Goose, Moncler, moose knuckles, Mackage, ADD and other brands, they do have a great selection of winter coats, if you are looking, look no further, all the great brands under one roof. Their inventory system is horrible, they are unable to check what is in stock at other stores, and to check they need to call and that other store has to physically go look for the coat? and to transfer something takes forever, with no news back. The parking lot, has tiny and limited amount of spaces, it is tight, and every time i go, there is people fighting for a spot. Update: the sales associate who said she would call me back after she transfers the moncler coat in the size and color I want from another store, she never called me back after over 2 weeks. I am displeased, disappointed and absolutely annoyed with the experience that I had recently with Sporting Life. I have placed an order on Friday, November 27th for a curb side pick up. Sent an email update to their address along with the Invoice # on November 29th. No answer.... decided to request for an update on a private chat on facebook on December 5th. They replied on the same day that they will look into the status of the order. December 6th: another facebook contact with Sporting life for an update. NOTHING!
