This retailer does not care about their clients. I was not delivered half of my 6 pcs order, over $500 and they are unable to do anything to correct the lost. So I am out product as well as money. I have never made a claim and I have never had this type of issue with the lost of a delivery. The signature given by their courier Fleet optics ( the order was also sent out with two different couriers in 4 different packages ) does not belong to anyone. The hiking shoes purchased online do not fit and also dig into my ankles. After being. A loyal customer I will NEVER shop there again. How is this place still open? Walked in with my friend to browse some items and saw a track suit pants I liked. took it to the cashier and she said the price on the sticker was incorrect. And then a mouthy cashsier next to her said - oh that would be below our cost price. I asked her if she was in charge of the supply chain. This is an interesting Sporting Life! You have to go up a set of stairs to reach the main store. At the bottom of the stairs, there is a small checkout area and when we came by there were some clearance items at rock bottom prices down there! They had men's and women's fleece for $20. Up top there were a surprising number of sale racks. The discounts ranged from 20-50% and they were on all manner of apparel. They had a lot of choices for activities including hiking, cycling, snowshoeing, skiing, and snowboarding. I was hoping to check out some indoor climbing gear but they didn't have any. I checked with an employee at one point who confirmed they didn't have any such equipment but they were nice enough to direct me to check out the Atmosphere/Sport Check that also exists in Sherway. read more

Sporting life has absurd return protocols and overall terrible customer service. I ordered a pair of tennis shoes, I tried them on at my house and they seemed to fit. I then wore them for an hour long lesson (beginner, so very light), and realized they were way too wide and would not give me the support I needed. I tried to exchange them for a smaller size (well within their 30-day return window for exchanges), paying out of pocket to mail them back, as they do not cover the cost of mailing back returns. I then went through no less than ten emails back and forth with their staff, as they were refusing an exchange since I didn't mail them back in the box, and the shoes had been worn (despite the fact that the shoes had nothing wrong with them). How does a sporting goods company expect people to know if a product works if they cannot even (very lightly) test them? The time it took them to argue with me extensively about their return policy, and then ultimately mail them back to me does not seem like a good use of their time or money, as I will literally never shop with this store again. In today's highly competitive retail environment, I'm shocked this company doesn't prioritize and put a higher value on customer satisfaction (especially when I wasnt even asking for my money back - just to exchange a pair of shoes that had nothing wrong with them). read more

This is an upscale Sporting Goods store at Sherway Gardens. The great selection comes with a quality price. I can say that the customer service is great; store staff greet you while you're shopping. Terrible Store. Jaspreet the cashier is cold, does not smile, make eye contact, or say hello or goodbye. They sell North Face jackets with recycled down feathers. That means you are wearing someone else's down feathers and paying new feather pricing. This should be illegal. If I wanted used down, I would go to a used clothing store. I cannot find new clothing anymore. All of it is recycled and the prices are still super high. I did not enjoy shopping here. read more

I've always been puzzled how the Sporting Life came to be... it's a great store but it's name 'sporting' has always been an opposite to some of the items found in the store. Sure they carry great high end sport oriented brands like Canada Goose, Rossingol, North Face, and Oakley but they also carry Burberry, Hugo Boss, and Stella McCarthey. I guess the rich needs their sports and exercise too. The service here is great. I've never had a moment in this store where an associate has gone missing, lacking knowledge, or horrible. They don't judge you on how you look... I've walked in here after a work out to grab a gift and they were just as pleasant to me as I was dressed normally. The store is rather large and it's over 2 stories filled (and I really do mean crammed) with lots of clothing. There are some sports equipment here but it probably takes up less than 40% of the floor space. They have some really cute children's clothing but at $200++ for a thin windbreaker by Ralph Lauren, you raise an eye brow at the price. read more

After confirming via email, I brought in a jacket with a missing fur pom-pom to have it replaced. Over email, they said it can be done through the manufacturer, no problem, I would just have to bring it in. I found out that having the coat received was no quick task. It wasn't just a matter of dropping it off and filling out some form. The middle-aged man who I dropped it off with, whom I assume to be a supervisor, sorta disappeared for AT LEAST 20-30mins. I have no idea where he went with the coat. He came back and muttered something about having to find some kinda serial/model #. He wasn't very friendly, just had a deadpan demeanor. Very little communication as to where he was going, what he was doing, etc. Weeks later, I receive a voicemail, saying that my coat was ready. It was a strange vm, no name, like 1min of complete silence before he actually started recording his message. Anyway, I pop in at my earliest convenience, and a cashier took my receipt, and was gone for a very long time, at least 20mins. She said that my coat wasn't there and that it should take 8-12 weeks - not 3 or how ever long I've been waiting. She was very nice and apologetic, but I did express my disappointment at the mixup. A complete waste of my time, driving out of my way, waiting for nothing. Again, initial man who served me NEVER verbalised that replacement would take this long. Would've been nice to know ahead of time as the coat is currently in-season. By the time I get it, it'll probably be close to Spring and I'll have no need for it! I'm guessing that someone called me by accident. Although this place LOOKS nice, fancy, & is new, they're very disorganised, possibly mismanaged. Every time I'm there, they seem extremely overstaffed, just a bunch of workers loitering around, chatting with each other, looking bored when there are no customers. It's worth $20 max. I can understand $40 even because they want to gauge us but $105? It's US$50 on Fanatics.com. THIS IS FOR THEIR ONLINE SITE OH MY GOSH. I ordered 4 items on January 1 and it is now January 30. Three of the items ordered were "out of stock" and I was notified on Jan. 9, 10, and 11 respectively. Apparently they are shipping the fourth item out as of January 11, when the UPS shipping label was created. After two weeks of wondering where this item is -- and constant emails (as they do not answer their phone through the 1-800 line...), I am now told that the "item was returned from the shipping facility to the store". My credit card was charged on January 9. Yes, for something that will probably never arrive... They do apologize (which is better than the review below that also gave them one-star), but they are pretty darned inept!!!! The solution? I was turned off completely by visiting retailers for ski/snowboard gear, but Descente's website said to visit Sporting Life.... so FINE. FINEEEEEEEEEEE And right when I walked in, I was so happy to see SO many brands and many modern/up-to-date styles for outdoor clothing! Did I see a Spyder jacket in size XS, and did I see two? Did I see reasonable prices (given this is really what you'd pay for anyways....)? YES. and yes! And yes I walked out with some sexy tight-fitting Spyder snowpants. I was able to pick between size 4 and 6! If it's not available in my size, the staff offers to call the Yonge location and send one over. Which they did. It was as short as ONE DAY for delivery, so I was able to try on my jacket quite soon! I did not feel pressured to buy anything. Really liked the staff here! Looking for a very nice jacket? This is the place to be. You can try many expensive jacket without the feeling of salesman eyeing you for commission. They sell the top seller jackets such as Canada goose, Mackage, Woolrich, Marc New York, etc. They also have a variety of goodies such as snowboard/ski equipment, shoes, and athletic gears. Some are at a reasonable price and some at a very unreasonable price. You may have to be a very savvy shopper. Despite of this their return policy is top notch. Not happy or have regrets? Return it right away. Just ensure its not been used and original are still on. The staff has a very friendly approach and will help you find what you need. They don't even deserve a star. The people here awe knowledgeable.. And awful. Here is what happened: My mom and dad walked into Sporting Life (sherway) a few months back in search of the warmest possible winter jacket for my mom. The goal of the trip was a Canada Goose jacket- but they didn't have my moms desired size so the sales associate showed my mom a beautiful ($1000) Mackage Jacket. My mom put the jacket on and really didn't think it was a good fit as it wasn't as thick as she would like (note: my mom is EXTREMELY sensitive to the cold). The sales associate assured her that IF THE JACKET ISNT WARM ENOUGH, SHE CAN BRING IT BACK AND THEY WILL SEND IT BACK TO MACKAGE TO FILL MORE! Under these pretenses, my parents bought the jacket, after all, a warm jacket that you can make WARMER? seems perfect. The jacket made its way back from Mackage (after a month and change) and my mom received a call saying that they didn't in fact fill the jacket because there wasn't any actual damage to the jacket. WHAT? Damage? I called Sporting Life to better understand the issue. couldn't get a hold of ANYONE properly from head office.. kept getting transferred to online sales customer support (which LITERALLY SAID there is nothing they can do). IT GETS WORSE FINALLY when I get through to a few people.. the 4th person I finally talk to MAGICALLY discovers a cigarette burn in the hood of the jacket, makeup stains, and stains all over the jacket. My mom is not a smoker (and only wears eyeliner, mascara and lipstick.. not the glitter that was found on the jacket..also in all fairness she is obsessed with cleaning and literally everyone and their dog knows that.. she would never just stain a brand new expensive jacket) Note: she wore the jacket ONE TIME as it was too cold- why would she ever wear it again. I went to the store to personally see these marks- they were there but THEY WERE NOT there when my mom returned the jacket. One of the employees MUST have worn the jacket out for a smoke break OR they swapped the jacket with another and are now not only NOT refunding my mom, BUT THEY ARE RETURNING A RUINED JACKET. read more

Way overpriced - better to shop online or at other competitors. Stores are exceptionally cluttered but don't have the selection to back it up. They have a policy to not allow outside bags into the change rooms despite monitoring their items that go in and out of the change rooms - BUT will NOT assume responsibility for theft of your property outside of the change rooms. I have bought a lot of gear here. Mountain bikes, snowboards, skiis and outdoor clothing are all well valued here. I don't buy any non technical clothing here though. That's too rich. Lol. I have used their Lifeline for receipts and warranty service. They did misplace many of my past purchases but a manager sorted that out for me. Now my history is all on record again. I usually only buy stuff on sale here even if it's off season as I'm not really an impulse buyer. I want quality AND value. I find the knowledge and attention of the staff very good and when they don't know something they find out from someone who does. I love their half back program for kids ski equipment. I have been a sporting life customer for over 10 years, primarily for their excellent selection of tennis equipment. Also, the advice of a number of their staff pros has been solid. Where they lack is client follow up and service. For many years I have had to resort to complaining to managers there for obtaining special order equipment, even though they have a special order process. Their staff for the most part seem more interested in socializing with each other than helping a client obtain a demo racquet or perhaps squeezing an extra stringing in. As of yesterday, they have lost a 10 year client for horrid service. read more

The salesperson that helped us today was Stephan and he was great. Unfortunately when we got to the check-out, we received mediocre service from a man who appeared to be the manager that day. He grew impatient when it turned out that my second gift card had a problem (while the first gift card worked). He requested to see my ID in a distrusting tone and then also suggested in a condescending tone to pay the balance with another form of payment and come back when I get my gift card sorted out. However, I did not see a line-up at the cash registers as there were several cashiers to serve customers. This has left me with a bad impression of the store and I will reconsider buying from this store again when I purchase my next $800+ coat. read more

Pretty good choice of ski jackets at the store. All the famous brand are there. No need to waste your time going to different stores. Watch for promotions. They had 20% discounts on all the "Descente" clothes when I was there. I found for myself and daughter a very nice jacket. My size wasn't there, but they had it in a different location. One of the better sporting goods stores in the GTA. They have a lot of high end brands for equipment such as skis and bikes that you typically only find in specialty stores. While you are there they also have a fantastic selection or sporting apparel and casual wear - this store has everything you need under one roof. read more
