She was not helpful at all, I asked for either a refund or exchange for my shoes that I ordered online, it said red colour but I received it in pink colour. We had a great experience at this Sport Chek. Hubby's bike was stolen last year so we went to check out the rides at this SC. We settled on the Diamondback brand for one. There wasn't one assembled in the hubby's size but they had it in stock and let us know when it would be assembled by ( there was a big queue). But the salesperson, Matthew, was great. Very knowledgeable and he managed our expectations well. We figured it was going to be approx end of March. Well wonderful surprise - we got a call 3 days later. The bike was ready to pick up! Yeah!! We went over and the tech, Troy explained some aspects of the model to us! He was extremely knowledgeable and we really appreciated him installing the water bottle bracket and taking the time to explain some things to us when he is obviously a busy guy!!! walked into Sportchek Ajax a week ago... Walked into Sportchek Ajax a week ago and found a winter coat it was on sale (had a green sticker) I walked up to the cashier and paid for it took all of 10 minutes. The cashier was friendly even offering additional discounts like for friends and family or something like that, she handed me a Canadian tire card with points as an extra, tossed the jacket on the table (no bag) and wished me well. No mention of final sale or anything else of importance. I'm walking to my car with my kids she runs outside and hands me a receipt she forgot to give me. I toss it in the car (again no mention of a final sale on sale items). Yesterday, I try on the jacket it's too large (tags are still on it brand new and unworn). I go back to the store today (6 days after buying) to try and get the same exact jacket smaller size. The cashier tells me too bad so sad final sale!??!. She calls the manager by phone (he doesn't bother coming over to the counter so I can explain) and he supports no exchange no refunds. BUT I was NEVER told final sale?? Never! I look at every word on the receipt all it says is SALE??? OTHERWISE, I would have triple-checked everything like fitment of course asI was in a rush and was with my kids! So I walk out of the store a 2nd time now stuck with a jacket that's too big and useless to me. * Update I got a survey emailed to me which I completed appropriately. They said a "VP" would be getting back to me. No such luck. Then I get " we will certainly re-train" the staff at that store (code word for you aint getting nuttin). Retraining of staff will do zero to help me out with my plight. I didn't ask for a refund just a smaller size and you cant even do that? It had been a while since I walked into a sportchek having bought most of my kids and my coats from sporting life and with this experience I will never walk into a Sportchek again in my life. Skate sharpening... Went here for a skate sharpening with a friend. At the ensuing skate, a screw came out of my friends skate, and my blade became lose as the skate wore on. The staff also weren't very helpful in the skate sharpening area. I said my skates were just being finished, and one employee walked away as that happened. It took over half an hour to sharpen two pairs of skates. read more

Although I'm not necessarily a fan of the franchise, this is probably the best SportChek I've been to so far. The two story store has an excellent season selection that seems to rotate and during my visit the ski/boarding staff were very helpful. Not only did they actually know what they were talking about (rarity at franchise sports stores), but one of the fellows I spoke with even gave me some advice on equipment that Sportchek did not carry and this was definitely appreciated. While the store was not too busy when I visited, they were out of stock for almost all of the items they had on special. read more

Bought a pair of Adidas flip flops for the shower at the YMCA. After a couple of weeks the shoes started to stink. I called the store and was told they could not return shoes. I explained that the shoes must be defective, sold as flip flops yet start to smell really badly once they get wet. I was told that is what happens. This is not acceptable and the store should either warn customers not to get them wet (really as they are sold on the rack with other flip flops) or stop carrying this product. Look it's only $40 but it's the principle that matters. No customer service and no standing behind a product they sell even though it was used as it was "intended" to be used. read more

Took my bike here for a tune up - this service shop has the best customer service I've ever dealt with. I find some of the more boutique style bike stores in the city make you feel inferior or less knowledgeable and that they know best even without knowing your situation. Well, not this place! The staff here are super friendly and helpful without making you feel bad. As for the rest of the store, I find the staff are around if you need assistance, but not pushy or in your face. read more

Amazing! Amazing service! I am one of those few women who hates shopping! I wanna go in and get out as fast as I can once I find what I need. This past cyber Monday I wanted to purchase a coat online but by the time I got to check out- it was sold out. Running errands today, I came to the plaza where this SportChek is and decided to go in to check if there are any discounts for that same coat (yes, I fell in love with it) The girl who originally approached me was super friendly, non-invasive, polite and helpful. I found the coat, asked her re: pricing. she said it was the original price, sale was only for online. she left to check and then again, to double check. I showed her through my phone how I couldn't order it online. She tried to search database herself. she really went above and beyond and I was leaving sad, but very satisfied with the service. While almost out of the door, I decided to ask her if I could see the manager. I figured, if i don't ask, I wouldn't know. She found him for me and I repeated my story. I then asked him if anything could be done since I was really out of options. after a few secs of hesitation, he goes,"you know what? lets make you happy- we'll sell it for the online price. come with me, i'll override the price at the cash register". all in all, this woman-who-hates shopping got the winter quality coat she fell in love with and I can tell you right off the bet- if there is anything I will be needing that can be purchased at a sports store- this location will be the location I will go to. they sure gained a loyal costumer today. it is not about how much money was saved, even more so- it is about the quality of service I received today! if it so happens the guys read it- you made my day! thank you both for a great experience! read more

The store is well stocked with many necessary accessories. However, the service at this store is very disappointing. The salesperson is arrogant without any intention to help the customers to figure out what they need. And they like to give no as answers. read more

I found that Sport Chek at Laird is one of the only two stores (among those I visited during the pandemic) that is well prepared for these days. I visited the store twice--before Nov. 23 when a series of lockdowns started in Toronto and after the lockdowns finished on March 7. First, not many stores, including grocery stores, sanitize countertops after each costumer. Second, my wife bought online a pair of sport shoes on Nov. 11; the shoes were too tight and should be either returned or exchanged. I returned the shoes on March 13 though Sport Chek usually gives only 30 days for the return/exchange of the items bought online. I was able to return the shoes because my wife was still within the 30-day time frame (after Nov. 11), which started in her case only on March 8 because she was not given a full 30-day period for the return/exchange in the first place due to the lockdown(s) from Nov. 23 to March 7. Is it not a great feature provided by Sport Chek during the pandemic?... We are all in it, and it's now pat of our lives. The management of Sport Chek--not like some other stores in Toronto, including Canadian Tire--decided to stay with us, their costumers. read more

Yesterday I went to a SportChek store for a pair of shoes advertised in a sales flyer. The store did not have my size but found a store to hold a pair for me. Today I made a special trip to get them. I thought the price charged to my credit card was too high and queried this but was told that my credit card was being charged for the sale price. Once back home, I checked the flyer and confirmed that I had been charged the full, non-sale price. I called the store and was told to make another trip back to the store to get a refund. This would take me an hour of my time and close on 20 miles of car expenses. I asked to speak to the manager and did so. I suggested that he had my credit card number and all the information to credit my card for the overcharge. HE PUT THE PHONE DOWN ON ME. I plan to tweet, facebook and simply relate my experience to everyone I know. read more

Wish I could leave less than one star, which has already been mentioned. Horrible customer service. Was hassled and lied to by the visa people walking around in the store. I was told there was nothing the store could do about it. No one came to give me a price on an expensive jacket I wanted to buy. Not sure why there was no price on it in the first place. I have been to this store a few times and each time I have found that the store, although well stocked, is almost always very nearly empty. The frustrating part is that although there are not very many customers, it is invaribly difficult to find a staff person to help, or if you do find someone it is 'not their section', or you have to wait for the one person 'who knows about the merchandise'. My visit this evening was particularly annoying, as I had checked online for a particular sports bag, which was only in stock at this location. when I arrived, I could count the number of customers in the store on my fingers, I and my mother went upstairs where two male staffers were talking. They didn't know exactly where to find what we were looking for and they just said "that must be downstairs", no "let me call" or "let me check about that for you". I guess their personal conversation was too important. (Later my 83 year old mother said she smelled alcohol from the young salesperson near her - yikes!). When we went downstairs, they did not have the item on the shelves. We asked the cashier - who checked a shelf behind the cash and said they didn't have anything there - 'it must be out of stock'. I explained that the website clearly indicated that it was in stock at their location. She said the website often isn't up to date. She asked for the stock number, so when I asked her if she could check online, she said that they can't access their own sportchek website - really??- in this day and age of technology? - So I had to use my own phone to search their website again to show her that 1) it was shown to be in stock, and 2) to find for her the item number. She finally looked it up and saw that they did have them in the back room (where I asked her about previously). A slightly more mature woman arrived and she then went on a quick and helpful search to recover what we had come for! I won't even get into the wait to check out. This store is near to me, which is why I have persisted in going there - but at this point I would drive well out of my way to go to any other sports store. read more
