The Sportchek in-store experience is fine. The price is consistent as online. The only issue is that they don't have as much stock and variety as some other locations like Etobicoke or even online. Unlike previous reviews, there was a ton of staff and they occasionally approached us to see if we needed any help. We purchased a ton during their sales event and it was in store only. They do have the Merrell Speed Arc Matis shoe style in store that was in a colourway not on their website so I'm glad i got to discover it in store to make a purchase and tried it on. It looked better than another shoe I had in mind for a purchase. *TIP* Bring a large bag to hold your big purchases because it's $2 for a large bag at checkout. I also purchased an item online because of availability and I can't believe the shipping company they used (Purolator) never attempted delivery (I have doorbell camera to verify - even it listed as passing by my area) and just delivered to Purolator store for pick up which was 20min drive from my house outside of the area I frequent. Definitely could have chosen a closer Purolator location than that one. Absolutely poor online purchase experience for them to deliver so far. If I had known that I wouldn't have purchased the shoe. Anyways I digress, better to buy in store if you can, especially during the busier Black Friday season. read more

I'm at a bit of loss here... there seems to be a lot of people running around but nothing is truly moving. Came here to check out the sales and though people greet you and try to help you, the whole experience took insanely long. We knew what we were looking for... size, options, everything. And when we needed help at the shoe spots, sure, people were there to greet but then they somehow punch into an electronic device to get it. COOL I thought... technology helping them. And then ... we waited... and waited... and waited... and waited. We asked them what happened... and then we waited some more. It is not an exaggeration when I say that we waited probably for 25 minutes to get the pair of shoes to even try on. I'm not sure what is going on with their system but technology is failing you. And it wasn't only us... there were at least 10 other people waiting for shoes just standing around being bored. This is not a good experience in any shape or form. As for prices, they're in line with other spots so if you do find what you need... HEAD THERE INSTEAD. I mean, they do have stock which is more than most places... probably because no one can buy anything here within a reasonable time. Ok this turned into a rant. Short story is that nice visual big place but the lousiest spot to even try to get what you want and need in any time. This one does look a little fancier too. They did have a small section in the women's clothing area that had some clearance items that were mostly yoga related sports bras and leggings. I only ever come here to check out the super discounted clearance sale items, when the sales are usually on like during Boxing Day, there is usually extra good deals on the clearance items, and brands such as Roxy, Billabong etc to prepare for my winter travels! This used to be one of the clearance locations, but this time there was no items at all! I didn't even see any brand name items when I was there, truly disappointing! I am unsure if all the stores are now like this, but I no longer have a reason to shop here! read more

Sure come to this Sportchek if you have all the free time in the world. They are the absolute slowest. Also it's impossible to find anyone to help you. The sales staff do that thing where they look past your head even though you're standing right there. So make sure you know what you want and hope that the signage there is good enough to find what you are looking for. We found 1 of 2 items we needed... I would ask for help but I like being treated like a human not some sub-human specimen not worthy of attention. read more

After 15 minutes, I then asked to speak to the manager. Still no answer. So I drove to a local bike shop and got my work done there. I came here to buy some stuff on sale. The good: The items that were said to be in stock online, WERE indeed in stock. The meh: The staff seemed a bit annoyed and frazzled, and the whole time I only saw 2 people on the floor of this GIANT two-level store. They got me the shoes I needed, and were helpful, though. The good: The checkout guy was super gregarious and friendly, and kind of made my day. So they have a pretty good selection of items from shoes to specific sports wear to outerwear, and with the crazy deal going on, the prices were good. Decent prices and good deals, but it took me 20 minutes to find anyone to help me. I went in looking for a new pair of trainers and the wait was laughable. I had to ask for an 8.5 instead of a 9. When someone finally brought me the 8.5, the right shoe was a 6.5. I spent 45 minutes in this store waiting. The staff don't seem to have much of an idea about the shoes they sell, either. To anyone visiting this location, Expect to find a great aesthetic store layout, things appear to be organized and built to the upmost standard. New panels, screens and merchandise have been laid out, however what seems to be dragging this store behind is the complete disregard and unprofessionalism of the staff towards customers that come to this location. My experience at this store was towards closing time 7-9 PM, I selected three shoes from the shoe department. Right off the bat, you'd begin to notice many staff seem unmotivated to serve customers, if they do take an initiative to step in to help, they rarely check with you again about the shoe size you asked to see. Many customers including myself, had to wait very long periods of time to receive service. Bottom line, they just simply take WAY too long of a time to update you on the progress, I was waiting for nearly 15 minutes to get the shoe size I had initially requested. As I was approached the same customer service representative I had initially inquired about my request, They ended up asking another co-worker to go have a look, while they stood there and continued to socialize with their other co-worker. This complete disregard of professionalism and proper customer service only proves that it's often not in the aesthetic of display in a store that leaves satisfied customers, it's the personality and nature of customer service representatives that drives customers to consider returning to their store for continued loyalty to the brand. Towards the end, upon realizing that I'll probably have to wait even longer for the search just to begin, all while I was already under the impression that someone had already been looking for the pair of shoes I had requested to try on. I simply left, and went on to purchase $243 dollars worth of merchandise from another athletic clothing location at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre. With the current level of attitude in regards to customer service towards customers at this location, the Sport Chek brand will certainly need to rethink employee training, as customer satisfaction was low in my experience, and to the many unnamed customers on this particular unfortunate day. For reasons such as this, it has become increasingly clear to me that the job this brand needs to get done cannot be done unless major changes take place at this particular location. read more
