We didn't come looking for anything specific, just to look around. Anytime I'm in a Sport Chek, I see what Raptors' apparel they have. There wasn't much at this store. While looking around, we saw a clothing rack with a lot of clothing on sale. Sifting through it, I found a couple items to try on. There weren't any employees by the fitting rooms, though. I had to ask another employee to find the one working in that particular section to unlock the changing room door. The employee that came was apologetic, as she was on the far side of that section. When it came time to pay, there was one customer at the counter talking through something with the cashier, and it seemed like it would take a while. There was another customer in front of us in line, and she had many items. We ended up going upstairs to the cashier on the ground floor. read more

I had two very different experiences at this location on the exact same day! Experience 1--Buying my Ice Skates: When we first got to the store there were not many people in the store. I saw a few employees and asked if someone could help me buy a pair of skates. A few people asked another employee to come to the area to help me. We waited about 10-15 minutes before someone arrived. Experience 2--The Shopping Experience: A very friendly employee began to help us. He brought out the only two pairs of skates in and close to my size. I tried on the size 8's, which I knew would not fit and then the size 9's. The 9's fit but were a little loose on my right foot. He answered all of my questions and helped me decide that those were clearly the right size, since my toes touched the end of the smaller sized boot. The employee spent about an hour with us and he told me about the moulding process and everything I needed to know about the skates. He googled other skates the company had and helped me decide these are a good pair for my needs. Experience 3--Buying the Skates: We went to the cash register area and got seen right away. I was paying for the skates and asked some questions about the quality and such because I was investing $200 on a new pair of skates. The lady seemed nice until we walked away. Once I paid for the skates and we began to walk out of the store, she told the other employee, "They were annoying". Ok, I understand we were your last customer on the weekend and you wanted to go home but customer service is the most important thing and no customer should hear an employee call them annoying right after making a purchase. Could she have waited until we were out of eat shot? Yes! Could she have said nothing at all? Yes! Why did she have to tarnish the experience with a comment like that? She should definitely have better customer service skills. It's unfortunate because I think she was the manager and having a manager with an attitude like that will create a negative morale at the store for all the employees. What a shame! Would I go back? I rather go elsewhere but with the shortage of skates, I had no choice but to go to this store. DO NOT USE DOORDASH DELIVERY OPTION! Purchased a pair of running shoes for my fiancee and selected door dash delivery. I needed these urgently as her current shoes are causing blisters/bleeding and she works out daily. I got a notification at 7:30am (a little early, but ok) that the shoes were being delivered so I waited by the door. No knock on the door, then I get a notification saying they were delivered...but they weren't... I called the store and the person who answered said they remembered handing the shoes to the driver, but would look into it and call me back. they called back and said there's nothing they can do, I have to call operations... So I call operations and get put on hold for 10 mins just for them to tell me that they don't know where the shoes are and I should contact door dash. After telling them I don't have the option to contact door dash, they inform me they'll open an investigation that will take 2-4 business days.... Remember I ordered these via door dash because my Fiancee urgently needed a new pair of shoes...now I'm waiting 2-4 days with no guarantee of resolution. I would strongly advise against using door dash - perhaps they can be trusted with your food but not with your expensive merchandise. Also, Sport Check takes no responsibility for a delivery option they provide and that is unacceptable. I should not be told to follow up with your courier when there is an issue - that's for you to do. Incredibly frustrated with this experience... read more

She completely went out of her way trying to find the size I was looking for. She didn't just say we don't have it. She really went above and beyond. it was showing only one in stock, she went searching for it, wasn't giving up. I'll always remember her. came to this location specifically to cut through the mall to get to a store that would have caused me to go half way around the mall due to the layout on this end of the mall, even though i didn't purchase anything i can tell you that the staff at this location are super attentive and caring. at multiple points of my journey through this store, both walking in and walking out, i was asked if i need help, guidance or direction. from a visual standpoint as well, it looks like this store keeps a very abundant amount of stock on all items you could possibly need, and more importantly as well, the store looked flawlessly clean. would love for my local sport chek to be the same as this one. would come back here! read more

This was my first visit to the newly renovated 2 level Sportcheck and for sports enthusiasts, it's like mecca. The first floor is dedicated just to Go Pro and the different ways to capture your extreme lifestyle or just really really fun adventures. The lower level is awesome. It has everything and it just keeps going on and on. I have to admit that when I compare prices here to places like MEC, huge difference. I saved at least 60%. BUT forget the prices. I'm sure all you smart shoppers will do your due diligence comparing costs online. I want to talk about Nick. Nick is one of their technicians (they sharpen skates, tune up skis/snowboards...etc). They have a shop at the back of the store (behind escalators) on the lower level. He, quite honestly, made the whole experience. He was so nice and so patient with all my skiing questions. I think Sportcheck should use him as an example of what customer service should be like (and promote him, now). Just for him, I would have given this review 10 stars. He was that much of an all-star. Also, he's pretty cute (which did NOT factor in my praise of him, well, maybe 1 extra star out of 10 for that). I think it is a little sad that the level of service generally has been in decline but when I do meet someone who goes out of their way to make my day/experience better, I feel the need to recognize it. Maybe then, the hard job of retail could be a bit more tolerable. Let's be honest, there are some seriously bad customers out there. If you need work on sporting equipment, go see Nick. You will NOT be disappointed. And give him my number :) read more
