I was getting my hair done at a shop in Ormewood Square, where Spoon is located, and wanted lunch after I was done. My stylist mentioned that Spoon was good, so I decided to give it a try. I walked in to place an order. Right now, they're takeout/delivery only, no dine-in. I ordered spring rolls (comes with 3) and the pineapple fried rice with shrimp. I paid and went back to my car to wait for about 10 minutes. When I went back in to get my food, it was ready, so I picked it up and headed home. I got home and was ready to dig in. Everything looked great! The spring rolls were okay, but they kinda tasted frozen and not like they were homemade. The sauce they come with was different, but not terrible. I wish they would've been paired with a sweet chili sauce or something. The pineapple fried rice was pretty good, but didn't really have much flavor. Luckily, I had some soy sauce to add something to it. Despite this, the portion was pretty large, which was nice. The food was okay, but I won't be making a special trip to visit again. read more

This review is looooonnngggg overdue, as I'm usually here 3-4x a month and am considered a regular. Spoon Eastside is my go to Thai restaurant in Atlanta; PERIOD! Located on the Eastside in Atlanta's Ormewood Park area, the location is easy to get to as parking usually isn't a problem. The owners, Wind and Shanaya are two of the nicest individuals I know and they both give 100% toward customer service and it shows. The food is great and always fresh. For appetizers I'd recommend the spring rolls, Thai chicken wings, and the shrimp in a blanket. As for the entree's, I'm a huge fan of the the Pad Kee Mao with vegetables and ground chicken, and the Golden Fish! Not once have I had a bad meal here. Don't forget Paul at the bar. We stumbled upon this family owned Thai restaurant after arriving at the airport. The decor has an industrial feel with high ceilings and funky art work. I especially liked the northern style Khao Soi chicken curry rice noodle with the pickled mustard green as you don't usually find this style of Thai noodle in the US. The Tom Yum soup was average tasting especially the broth with a few shrimps (3) and mushrooms. However the pineapple fried rice was good and a fair portion for lunch. Spppoooon! My husband and I have visited so many times, especially during the pandemic for take-out and we love this place. Los Guidrys Thoughts and Recommendations: - Location is in a shopping center with plenty of parking spaces. Hooray for parking lots! - Roti Massaman is our favorite starter! The roti is made fresh and the massaman sauce is phenomenal. They give you a lot of sauce so you'll want to save it and eat it with other food you order. - Fried Spring Rolls is a more filling app than the roti. I believe this comes with a sweet chili sauce for dipping that's really good. - There are so many good options on the menu! Our go-tos are Panang Curry, Massamun Curry, Pad Kee Mao and the Pad Thai. - I'm hesitant to recommend any of the stir frys. We've tried a couple of the stir fry variations and they tend to be bland. You'll have to get a sauce and add for more flavor or just order something different. - You can choose the heat level! I really do appreciate restaurants that cater to all level of spicy tolerance because I can't do super spicy food. Spoon lets you choose heat level so it can be a meal you truly enjoy. Overall this place has some of the best Thai food in Atlanta. It's a family owned business and everyone that works here is so kind. We keep coming back and will continue to do so. This place is just ok. Used to be better but they've increased prices, up-charge for everything possible and overcook everything until it's limp. Last night I got 2 orders of coconut shrimp. One was so over cooked it was rock hard. The other so pale the shrimp was not even fully cooked. My drunken noodles were sauce less and dry but also limp and over cooked. Had the veggie basil fried rice and a stir fry dish with fried fish. The basil fried rice was mediocre and a small portion size. The fried fish dish was placed in sauce which made the fried fish soggy. The restaurant charges an automatic 20% tip. This review is long overdue, and frankly I'm ashamed it took me this long! Not only is this the best Thai food I have found in Atlanta, by an ENORMOUS margin, Spoon is run by some of the absolute kindest people in town. These folks genuinely care about their guests and about their community, and all of my experiences at Spoon for the past 5+ years - as both a customer and, at one time, a neighbor - reflect this. I recommend basically anything on their menu - I fall into my own favorites (Pad Kee Mao is my typical go-to), but have always enjoyed my meal, whether I take out or dine in. I'm vegan and my wife cannot eat gluten, and there are plenty of options for us both - and if you're concerned about a dietary restriction, just say the word and the staff can definitely help you find something you'll love. Just go! Their quality stayed consistent through all of 2020 and 2021, as did the quality of their service. Seated by the window in the center of the place, I could hear all the conversations around me. Ceilings are high and the sound travels and lingers. I've admittedly never eaten AT Spoon Eastside, but it's one of my favorite UberEats businesses! I love the massaman curry (without carrots because allergies are a personality trait for me) and the shrimp coconut soup! The coconut soup is one of my favorite soups of all time, but the shrimp come with the tails on. I always take them out and remove the tails and chop them up like a lil kid lol. Today, I ordered the massaman curry with tofu and it was lovely! It's sometimes a gamble to order tofu in a curry dish, but it was cooked really well - not too soggy! I used to get spoon all the time pre pandemic. I'm not sure if they switched owners or management or what but the food has significantly declined. Went several months ago for the first time in a while, got Massaman curry like always and it was watery and lacking flavor. Tried again recently and yet again, lacking flavor by far. Spring rolls were only filled with cabbage. Chicken larb was a bed of shredded lettuce instead of the traditional cups of cabbage. It's really sad when one of your favorite Atlanta Thai spots goes so downhill. read more

Mother loving exquisite!!!!! Yessss, my mouth is twerking for flavor. If you have a Thai spot and it's not this one, you don't know what you're missing out on. Do not be deterred from the automatic 20% dine in gratuity added to your bill. I almost was. The service is great, and that's what you should be tipping if you receive great service. I left so full I felt like a cartoon character with a bloated belly when they overeat. I will screenshot the bill so you can see what I ordered. Everything tasted authentic and as though it was made fresh. I was too hungry to catch a picture of my food, but I got a few of dessert and my daughter's. There is inside and outside, limited, seating. Various art pieces cover the walls and the bar looked like a place to be if you drink. Music wasn't bad either, there was a song playing that I haven't heard in years but loved. I don't recall the name or band. I will definitely be a returning patron. Been coming here for many years. They also own Paoer Plane in Hapeville. Tried it and I would just rather drive the 45 minutes to Spoon.

Not good Thai food. Bland. Soggy. Over cooked rice. And ridiculously expensive!! $100 on 2 sprites, 2 fried rice, 1 kid's pad Thai and an appetizer of coconut shrimp. If you want yummy food this is NOT it. Plus the parking situation is horrendous! Tight spaces. Overly crowded parking lot. Construction next door. Dance classes upstairs with kids and parents trying to navigate through the parking lot. Have to circle for parking and the circle is small it puts you out on Moreland Ave and you have to deal with that traffic to turn back into the parking lot to hunt for a parking space again. read more

I've been to Spoon on various occasions over the years and I must say the food and drinks are just OK. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Green Curry with Chicken and a few cocktails. The Green Curry was fine in flavor, but the sauce was too thin/runny and the chicken was extremely bland. The cocktails were too sweet and didn't taste like there was any alcohol in them. Overall, I think you're paying more for the decor and the pretentious air of "fine Thai dining" here, but the reality is you can score much better Thai food and craft cocktails for roughly the same prices at other Thai restaurants ITP. read more

This is a go to Thai spot and I've loved it since the first time I went! I frequent this place quite often and I usually have their coconut tofu soup and their Pad Zu. I love it so much I don't ever usually get anything else. Their menu is pretty straight forward in terms of ordering and I love the fact that you can pick your protein and spice level. Spoon used to be my FAVORITE THAI restaurant in Atlanta. I have not been since the pandemic and went last week. The service was sub par and the food was not as fresh as it was known for. I had the Thai Basil fried rice and sweet chili chicken wings. The wings were small and taste of old grease and not as crispy breaded and larger as it once was. Even the sauce was thick and and firm. Half of the restaurant seating area has been used as storage and covered with drapes. The back by the restrooms smells rancid, which all in all made my stomach turn. The maître d', if you want to call it that, made us order in the front even before we were seated. He was not inviting and had an " It is what it is" type of mannerisms. Since this WAS my favorite Thai Restaurant, I will try one more time bc everyone has moments of reconstruction. Hopefully I came at a bad time and the redemption is better. read more

And when I brought it up to the server, he didn't even apologize. Made me feel like it's an everyday affair that they find plastic in their dishes. Spoon Eastside is not a bad Thai restaurant. It's trendier than the average Thai restaurant, but still maintains a casual atmosphere. The menu is simple, but has all the Thai staples. Classic appetizers include chicken satay (chicken on skewers with peanut sauce), fresh basil rolls, fried spring rolls, tom kha gai (coconut soup with chicken), and tom yum (Thai hot and sour soup). Entrees include various curries, Thai stir-fries, and noodles such as pad Thai. Specials can differ between Spoon Eastside and Spoon Westside. The night I visited Spoon Eastside, specials included Dungeness crab and a scallop stir-fry. I think the portion sizes at Spoon are small, especially for what you pay. Curries and stir-fries are $11 and noodles and rice are $9. Adding protein to your meal adds anywhere from $1 (tofu) to $5 (fish). So you could end up paying $16 for a small-to-medium sized bowl of gaeng keow wan (green curry) with fish. I met up with a friend for a Tuesday night dinner here and the restaurant was moderately busy. I tried the fried spring rolls, pad kra-pao (basil stir-fry with bell pepper, onion, and Thai basil) with chicken, and the "samros" three-flavored stir-fry (mushroom, zucchini, onion, carrots) with chicken. One order of the fried spring rolls ($4) comes with three small rolls and a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. The rolls, filled only with vegetables, were pretty good. I enjoyed the pad kra-pao because I really like the flavor of Thai basil, of which there was plenty of in this dish. Generally, taste and flavor were good. The samros stir-fry was OK, though a little too "Americanized" for me (think sweet and sour chicken) -- lots of sauce. Each of these dishes came with a small bowl of jasmine rice. Our server was Linden and she was great. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Spoon Eastside is located in the Ormewood Shopping Center, which is also home to the original Morelli's, Lucky Exchange, and Little Azio. I like the modern and stylish decor inside. Outdoor patio seating is available and parking is free and plentiful in the shopping center's nicely paved, private lot. read more

I have been here multiple times and each time was great! Majority of these times have been for dinner dates-really intimate setting with dim lighting and minimal noise. Most recently, I ordered one of their specials-Spicy Green Curry Fried Rice with Shrimp. My boyfriend ordered Chicken Curry. Both were tasty! Quite a few things on the menu, all with option to add meat for additional costs. Yet, everything is super affordable. Spoon is a casual neighborhood Thai spot that is extremely overpriced. Although the food is usually good, it's not always consistently good. I find the prices to be really high for the portion and quality of ingredients used in dishes. They are using very basic vegetables. I want to like Spoon more, but every time I get it I end up feeling underwhelmed and a little shocked at the high prices. A pad thai dish with chicken is almost $20 and no it's not big enough to share and no you won't have leftovers. Also, they add 20% for dine in. Keep in mind this is a casual spot that does mostly take out so quality of dine in service is non existent. My advice for Spoon: improve your quality, portion sizes, and service. read more

Got the Samros, Basil rolls, and Pad Krapao for good and the mango mojito and 2 different red wines. Everything was absolutely perfect! Pad Krapao was my favorite but the Samros (mixed seafood) was sweet, sour, and spicy was also really good! The seafood was fresh. Drinks were strong and flavorful! Be aware that the entrees are a base price and there's an add-on fee for meat. There is a parking lot but it was full but luckily we caught someone leaving. The lot isn't big for the restaurant and shops it services. Although, we went around 8pm, it was packed but luckily we were seated within 5mins of arriving. There are places to sit at the bar but they were all full. This is a nice spot for groups, casual dates, and intimate dates! read more

I'm a huge Thai foodie and love trying new restaurants. Thai 26 is by far my fav but I wanted to try something new. I should have just stuck to my guns and went to my spot. This food is overpriced and mediocre! I ordered the Massaman curry, Thai tea and spring rolls. The Massaman was flavorful but not enough sauce to cover the veggies and protein and they only gave me 3/4 of rice.The Thai tea had waaaay too much ice and too sweet. Thai flavors are usually bold but my food was pretty bland. I guess I was just disappointed because I was really craving good Thai food and this just wasn't it. I ordered the chicken wings and the chicken and shrimp panang. Wasn't a fan of the wings at all. Even with the sauce it was just not working for me. The panang lacked seasoning and my chicken in it was over cooked and dry but the shrimp were pretty big and plentiful so I did enjoy that. My pomegranate lemon drop was meh. read more
