I could immediately tell this place was going to be a good regular spot. Brendan the bartenders vibes were so incredible, recommended the best drinks, we ordered food an hour before closing (terrible I know) and it was so delicious. The nachos were great! I couldn't recommend this place enough please please give it a try!

Between the atmosphere, the charm, the creativity, and the overall experience- I would vote this the best dive bar in NYC (I think Guy Fieri would agree). Tucked inside a historic building, this place has such a unique, intimate feel. The energy, the staff, the food, the drinks and the live band, was fuggetabouit I checked out their website and then experiencing it in person, I can confidently say... The Rock House is a VIBE for sure! So the space is on the smaller side, but all part of that neighborhood vibe. It's like Rock Glam meets neighborhood bar in like a Cheers type setting what I'm sure there are regulars. For a night out with 10 people- we locked down the bathroom corner and I actually enjoyed being able to sit close with my friends. Felt like we had best seats in the house but when you look around... everyone kind of has the best seats since the bar is central to the entire perimeter. As a nurse, I've only ever been out that way for Northwell on Seguine, so I had no idea there was even a spot like this tucked at the end. Hidden gem for sure. And don't let the word "bar" fool you okay this place delivers on food Big ups to "Rocker Jen," the owner, who was hanging out like one of the patrons, she not only served up looks, but jumped in to make her signature Bloody Mary. When I say it's a meal in a cup, I mean it- my inner foodie was so excited Onion rings, fried pickles, a bacon-wrapped hot dog, fried sweet shrimp, a pretzel, chicken fingers, and two of the best cheeseburger sliders I've had in a while. And you already know I'm a foodie... ahem Yelp Elite I really can't stop thinking of that delicious rim too. What really surprised me is that it's not just a bar with entertainment- I read- it's also dog-friendly, which makes it even better . Check out their website for happy hour details, events, and happenings... Rock House Bar and Grille knocked it out of the park. I'll absolutely be back. If you love Rock Music and good food and drinks- do not miss this place- enjoy

I enjoyed a 90s alt rock group, Pink Floyd tribute and zeppelin tribute here. Definitely reserve a table if you don't want to stand for hours when they have a really popular act. When it's busy, you might be stuffed like sardines in a tin can. However on a quieter night, more empty tables and breathing room. They also have 2 darts boards that are cute. I had a smoked old fashioned which was strong AF, a Shirley temple (yes my friends make fun of me for ordering a kid drink- but that's ok!), and a non alcoholic mojito which was also surprisingly decent. The chicken tenders come in a massive bowl (portion size is enough for two), as do the French fries (the bowl is practically trough sized, we barely made a dent in it). Server was friendly and on top of things all night.

The bathrooms are spacious and clean, and I can't emphasize enough how important that is. My suggestion, particularly for sold-out shows, is to arrive early, like an hour and a half before doors, and park your car at the VFW across the street and pop in for a few three-dollar beers. The prices at Starland are considerably more ($8.50 for a 12 oz can) and the VFW is a great pre-game option. The sound in Starland is good, and their layout is one of their biggest strengths; pretty much anywhere you stand you'll have a good view of the stage. It never seems far away. I'm taking off one star, however, because the show I was at (Testament / Overkill / Destruction) was clearly over-sold. I moved around, checked out a few vantage points during the headliner and eventually found a spot with some breathing room, in a raised area by one of the bars. But man, just imagining some kind of emergency situation and the absolute chaos that would ensue with such a packed-in, oversold crowd, it makes a person nervous.

The fact the music was so loud so many people were searching for earbuds but nowhere sold them other venues. I've been to the bar will sell them or give them out for free depending. If that so many people are looking for earbuds then maybe there's a problem as I've been to other venue for shows and have not experienced people meandering around searching for earbuds.

The building was previously The Century Inn and is one of the oldest continuously operated restaurants in New York City. It has a great history and I think the current bar dates back to the mid 19th century. After the sale a couple of years ago, the new owners kept the German themed menu, beer list and most of the decor. The decor and overall ambiance of the place is great. We were here on a Thursday night at around 6pm. It was empty. I think while we were there, maybe two other tables were occupied. There were a couple of patrons at the bar so it was relatively quiet. The food was ok, nothing special. I had the chicken cutlet Schnitzel which came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. It was pretty bland overall. The vegetables may have come out of a can, not sure though. My cousins ordered the wurst sampler and he said it was fine. Again, the food was okay and not as good or hearty like I remembered it being. I know the spring and summer season are coming and the beer garden will be open soon. They had posters up that had the upcoming music lineup. That was always fun. Check it out if you happen to be out on Staten Island.

I absolutely love the dumplings. DO NOT drink the tap beer if you're driving!!! It is so big, so cold, and SO DELICIOUS that you cannot stop chugging it. And it's authentic German beer. So no 5.0 alcohol like American beer. This stuff is like 7.5 or higher. They feature live music occasionally, and it's a whole lotta fun! Great experience! Highly recommend!

I've been here twice with groups of 6. We've ordered everything from the burgers, to the chicken sandwiches and fish and chips. I ordered a Chicken Caprese sandwich and I enjoyed it the first time. The 2nd time I ordered the Veggie Wrap which I decided to turn into a sandwich. That didn't work so well. The burgers were good too. The items all had the option of fries or salad. All the food was good, except the fish and chips was batter and very little fish. The old school ambiance is really nice. The restaurant has an upstairs and downstairs dining area, each with its own bar. If in the area for a show, Tavern on the George has it down to a science getting all the groups in and out in time. Although, the food is nothing special, I'd come here again.
