The gelato bar called Elisior Splendide right next to Hotel Splendide was just so-so. The texture was a bit too runny. And the price was higher than other places you'd find -- when we went it was 4 euros for only one scoop, and in a cup only. The staff at the counter didn't speak English very well, despite this place being right next to the ferry drop off and in the center of the touristy area. They said pistachio is what most costumers get, but banana is their signature flavor. I tried banana and kiwi, and both were good flavor-wise but texture-wise was just so-so -- too runny. If you walk a few steps towards Salita Serbelloni and climb all the way to the top of the stairs and turn left, there's better and cheaper gelato at Gelateria del Borgo. read more

Creamy and delicious gelato in beautiful Bellagio! I cannot comment on the food because I came here strictly for the gelato and it did not disappoint! The scoop game is generous and they have a great variety of flavors. Feel free to sample them before you buy, but just know that it will be a tough choice since there are so many great options. I opted for a double scoop of banana and pistachio and this gelato was like a mini meal all by itself! Could not believe how incredibly rich and creamy this gelato was. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The gelato bar is located right near the entrance to the restaurant and has its' own separate line and entrance, so you don't have to wait in the restaurant line. Not sure if the gelato customers are allowed to sit on the patio tables, but their patio provides the most beautiful view of Lake Como! Club music, cocktails & pizza, everybody is enjoying this Italian moment. My wife and I ate here our first evening in Bellagio and were happy to be seated right away for an early dinner in the restaurant area, which is down some steps at the water's edge compared to the pizza lounge which is up at street level. We had some odd interactions with our waiter who altered our order for a bottle of wine. We ordered a Tempranillo but he brought us a fruitier red blend. The red blend was more expensive but he charged us the same price as the less expensive bottle we actually ordered. This was not communicated well and we spent our entire dinner wondering if we had been up sold to a bottle of wine that was $20 more expensive than what we had wanted to spend. It all worked out but we were confused and tried not to let it spoil our evening. The food was fantastic. My wife had steak and I had the octopus. Both were well prepared and beautifully plated. It's particularly fun to sit and watch the water. Just know that the ferry terminal is next to the restaurant so if you're looking for an unobstructed view of Lake Como, you'll be disappointed once every fifteen minutes or so. We enjoyed the ferry activity. It was impressive watching the expert skills of the captains navigating the lake and dock. Overall, a fun experience despite some confusion. read more

We stopped here for lunch during our day trip to Lake Como. The service was good and I was really excited to about ordering the pumpkin ravioli. But when I tried it I was very disappointed. It was very bland and lacking salt and seasoning. I did however enjoy the cup of tiramisu I ordered at the end of lunch. The cream was smooth and flavorful and the cocoa powder on top was not too much. Overall 8.75/10 for the tiramisu. read more

We ate in the lower terrace and the food and service was outstanding service. Fabio was our waiter and was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The view of the lake is more than enough to make this place special but to have outstanding service makes it all that more special. read more

The food was very good with fairly decent prices. The ambience of being able to sit on the lake is outstanding. The big issue is service. Our lunch was served and then we were totally ignored until the bill came after we were finished. If you're willing to do poor service to get the ambience, then this is your place. Bar Splendide is right along the water at Bellagio, near the ferry station. By default then, you get that beautiful lake view and the awning stretches to cover all the tables (really important) but it depends on your mood if you'll appreciate the music or not. Free WiFi is a plus, and if you hook on once you can always check your updates as you walk into Bellagio and wait for the ferry the next time! We stopped for coffees, cuppoccino & cakes here as well as gelato - it's kind of the perfect thoroughfare for the "quick fixes" and I saw quite a few happy-looking folks tucking into Beers & cocktails and chips and dip as well. We didn't eat here around dinner / lunch times so I can't speak much for the food on that, but the place did seem full when we ran by and no one looked sad! Cuppiccino got fantastic reviews from my husband as well as the generous slice of Tiramisu and the gelato hits the spot. The staff was nice and fast (I had to get a quick coffee fix) and generally this seems like the great all-around option it was probably meant to be when they started - fast fixes for the ferry crowd, water views and a rather intense-looking nice drink setup for some evening enjoyment. read more
