Beautiful setting for a wedding.
Bethany E.

Spirit Mountain is simply beautiful. Such a peaceful setting for a cherished event. We were invited to witness the nuptials of Brianna & Bryan McBride. It first takes place in the back lawn behind their main buildings. A decorated pergola serves as the altar for the vows. The lush green grounds are well landscaped as well. The reception area is hard to miss. Once you park your car you have to walk past the banquet room to attend the wedding. It's a generous size building with the main reception area, an upstairs which they had the children up there playing and a separate room for the catering. The wait staff and bartending staff were all very professional. They hosted a lovely event that will be remembered by everyone in attendance. Congrats to the bride and groom!

I can only review the Timber Twister coaster, but it's SO much fun! My 59 year old mom loved it, so it truly is great for all ages! I would advise you do double riders instead of single riders if possible, because you go faster (it's also cheaper)! If the driver in the back just leans all the way in to it, your combined weights will zoom you down that mountain! And that's kind of the best part: The trip down the mountain is self-propelled. You control the car to go as fast or slow as you'd like, but there is no steering to worry about obviously, the track you're secured to does that for you. You just push the levers to go, and release them to slow or stop. There are some beautiful scenic overlooks to enjoy if you're able to 'brake' your car in time to focus on the view. It's just so awesome to speed by huge trees and rocks and not die! For all you Twilight fanboys and girls out there, this coaster honestly reminds me of how the Cullen vampires must feel while running and leaping through the woods and trees at high speeds. The ride itself goes by pretty quickly, but is worth every penny! The only thing that would make it any better is if they had 2 parallel tracks and you could race your friends down!

The walk-in sites in general are all amazing, you're secluded from everyone else but still close to the amenities. Site 83 is about a 4-minute walk from where you park your car. There are two tent pads and plenty of space. It's a beautiful site--book it early! The amenities at the campground were great, plenty of places to recycle, fill up water, and throw out trash. The bathrooms are also very nice, but they are some of the busiest bathrooms I've ever seen! There are plenty of hiking trails as well, a great visitor center and gift shop, and it is an all around lovely state park.

I'm not super experienced at camping, but the campsites felt quite close together to me. Compared to other places we've been, the sites are much less private. AMENITIES: 5/5 The amount of water spickets and bathrooms around the site were great, and the showers/main bathroom facilities were nice! STATE PARK: 5/5 We loved walking a bit of the state park over the weekend! The suspension bridge is super cool, and it's really fun to walk on and explore the unique rock formations along the water.

Everything was clean. The room came with a fully stocked kitchenette which is nice if you want to do some cooking but we ate out. No stove but there is a hot plate, dishwasher and refrigerator. It's nice to have a couch and TV separate from the bedroom. We golfed at The Legend and The Quarry. They were beautiful courses Fairways and greens were well maintained. Legend was a little less than 5100 from the forward tees which was very fair. Quarry was closer to 5200, so longer and much more narrow. Don't forget to look for the giant bear claw on The Legend. Lots of driving between some holes but enjoy the scenery while you are cruising. Great courses. I struggled to rate this. I loved the golf but the accommodations had some pros and cons. Lodging pros - separate bedroom and living area - kitchenette - close to everything we wanted to do - Two TVs Lodging cons - the shower water never got really hot to that end the jacuzzi in the room was never used because we couldn't get it hot enough to want to sit in it - separate rooms are nice but controlling the temp was hard as air conditioning was in bedroom but thermostat was in living room. There are fans to help but in the end the bedroom was usually very cold - the TV in the bedroom was hit or miss on displaying channels. - WiFi was hit or miss. - rooms are owned by individuals so it's like renting a vrbo. To that end, no housekeeping. Not sure if you could request it. We didn't stay long enough for it to be a major issue.

Stop by the visitor center in downtown Hayward. They have maps, a topo map, bumper stickers, magnets, shirts, etc. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the Birkie, as they call it. Now to the hiking experience. I started at OO Trailhead. Two mountain bikers were there with me but they were l. The Cambra Trail System and I was on the Birkie. The Birkie "hiking" trail is the actual x-country ski race trail. It's basically a "field" between dense forest. I hike the Birkie RED trail, not BLUE classic trail (unmowed) was literally alone the entire time save the loggers that were clear cutting near Boedecher Rd, one German Shepherd guarding a log trucker, two Cambra mountain Bike Trail maintainers and one snake. It was one of the oddest hikes I've done. In 11 miles there was ONE place to sit down. The Boedecher warming hit which was mid-construction. Other than that it was knee high weeds on the trail. Zero water opportunities. I'm use to that in a drought but not after months of Midwest rain. There was literally no where to get water. I hike with 3 liters so I was good. The Seeley Fire Tower doesn't exist even if the map says "Fire Tower" on it! Scat! Bear scat and what appeared like wolf or coyote scat. Never saw any but that doesn't mean they didn't see me. There was evidence of best because three red box aid stations were demolished from bear claws. I look forward to putting my Birkie sticker on the CRV. #done

Cons: Very high price compared to most lodging options in the area. Bed mattress is very firm. There is a thin layer of pillow top, but it is well broken down. I had a back ache both early mornings, waking up well before I wanted to. The ironing board is one of those mini ones with a dirty old cover. Although there were wine glasses, there was no cork screw in the room. Although there are big candles in the bathroom there is no matches provided to light them. The s'mores kit we were provided had stale marshmallows. One of the bathroom sink bowls had some kind of unsightly chemical damage. In-room TV is small (20") and low quality. Refrigerator froze our milk solid. I'd be fine with the issues of this place, if the price was lower. For the price they are charging, none of these cons should exist.

Overall, I would stay here again. I love Two Harbors and the entire area. It's much better than going to Lake Tahoe bc there's little to no traffic & Lake Superior is the biggest freshwater lake in America.
