The team was friendly and worked quickly and efficiently to get it done before it got dark, and the quality of their work was excellent. Matt was very friendly and nice to communicate with as well, and always responded right away. Matt, the owner, called me back the next day and we arranged a time for him to come and give me an estimate. He showed up exactly when he said he would, and emailed me the estimate the next day. When I hired him, he told me upfront that it would be a while before he could start due to an ongoing project he was working on. I appreciated that. When the time came for him to start, there were some delays, mainly weather related, and he was very conscientious about calling me and letting me know what was going on and when to expect them. Although the project took longer than I expected to be finished, I am very happy with the finished product. Matt is excellent at communication. He took care of all permits, and arranged all inspections. His crew was always on time. They did an excellent job cleaning up after they were done, and the finished project was fantastic. I would definitely recommend MMP Construction, and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

The project was exceptionally well planned, and they completed it ahead of schedule with exceptional quality and craftsmanship. We especially appreciated how thoughtfully they worked around our family while we continued living in half of the house -- that flexibility made the project affordable and manageable for us. Throughout the process, Hancock seamlessly coordinated with our architect and structural engineer, showing great flexibility and a true commitment to quality. The results have been amazing -- we're already making full use of the new space, and neighbors have been stopping by with compliments, with several saying they're planning to hire Hancock themselves after seeing the impressive work and speed of completion. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and would not hesitate to recommend Darrell and the Hancock Building Associates team to anyone considering a project in the area. We'd definitely work with them again!

He comes off as being a 'good guy' because he obviously wants your business, but his true personality shines through during the job. He's loud, rude, and has no filter. While working at home, I've overheard a number of his phone conversations, one in which he mocks a customer support rep for slightly stuttering, and he was just an overall unpleasant person. Also, don't believe his promises. If you're getting a big job done like a kitchen or a bathroom gut renovation, he's not going to have it done in a week. I had to wait over a month for the bathroom with the only shower in the house to be done, and he 'understood' the urgency of having this completed. He kept delaying the process and the longer he delayed, the more impatient and unprofessional he became. I hope this review will make you think otherwise before choosing this company. Like I said, I only met Steve's son, Nick, and I would hope that the apple falls far from the tree before you decide to deal with Steve or his company.

I called Steve and Sons for painting and light fixing to get an apartment ready for renting. His…read moreson Nick came out for the first meeting and was impressive, so I gave him the job. It was a mistake to trust him when he said he would remember everything that needed to be done, so he didn't need to make out a list. He did not remember to say the least. The first real concern came when he asked that I write the checks out to him rather than to Steve and Sons. He had an explanation, so I did it. Then when he said he was 80% done, he wanted me to come take a look and give him more money (another 1/3 or so). He wasn't even 50% done, and had irrepairably painted the good woodwork. We had talked about not painting the woodwork, and so he now blamed it on his crew; that they didn't know. He missed the point that he needed to make sure they knew. The same crew also didn't use drop cloths (or didn't use them properly and totally), so the carpets and kitchen floor were loaded with paint speckles that could not be removed. His excuse for this is that I mentioned having the carpets cleaned later on. I had made a huge point of making sure about the use of drop cloths. Anything one cannot see from standing on the floor was not painted, such as the hidden and top sides of entryway frame moldings and what not. Edges in general, around moldings and such, were sloppy at very best, and in a few cases more than an inch from the edge unpainted. The trim was horrible for the most part, and I had to have it redone. When I questioned this, while I was questioning Nick, his father Steve showed up unannounced and said his son told him that some of the things I said had not been completed were not included in the job proposal. Like repairing a couple of window cords. Nick had shown me how he would cut into the the seam and such to get at the channel. But a day or two later he told his father it wasn't part of the job. So Steve sided with his son and said they'd just leave if I didn't like it; go sue them in small claims court. I accepted that, as the amount of work left was quite significant, and the quality of what had been done was generally poor. As they were leaving though, Steve asked what needed to be done, I wrote it all down for him, and he said he'd come do it himself in the near future. He did, and in large part he finished the job. But the carpet was still painted, the kitchen floor also. As well, only some of the poorly painted areas were touched up. There was an effort made to clean the carpets, it just could not be done completely, it was too mlate at that point. The window dressing (blinds mostly) brackets were all left up during painting. Many holes in walls were not filled. Some nails and screws were left in walls. Smoke detectors that had been carefully installed according to code were taken down, put out of the way, and never put back up. Now I have to figure out proper placement and put them back up myself. He was paid in full because I was just grateful Steve had come back to correct Nick's work. But I did not get all of what I paid for. And the carpet has had to be taken up. As well, I've had to have a few rooms repainted by someone else. I had high hopes for this job after meeting Nick for the first time, but it turned out to be a nightmare. They got 2 stars because Steve came back out to complete the work; a respectable thing to do.

We were very concerned that so many contractors would not be experienced enough to deal with the challenges that a house, built in 1753 would naturally have. Dave and Mike came into an absolute mess with our post and beam construction since the damage to the fieldstone foundation impacted the entire house. They did a fabulous job, better than any of our expectations. Whenever they encountered a problem we thought would be insurmountable, they calmly figured it out; even as our house was then effected by the Columbia gas explosion, right in the middle of construction. Dave gave us good advice, made solid suggestions on how to maximize our insurance money and was calm even when we were not. The communication was quick and clear even with the other contractors. This was an unbearable situation made bearable only because of Dave and Mike's professionalism, honesty and patience. Highest recommendation for HRH Construction
