This was my third visit to 2nd & Charles, and it continues to deliver. Stopped in for their…read morePenny-A-Page event and somehow walked out with 7 books for under $35. Yes, we did it in two transactions; no judgement Their selection is seriously impressive; everything from kids' books to adult reads, so it's easy to get lost browsing. I've also picked up CDs here as gifts, and the condition has always been pristine. If you're into collectibles, they have a huge selection of Funko Pops, and their video game section is a solid find for collectors too. If you love a good bargain, this place is a must. Buying used is not only budget-friendly, but it's also a win for the environment. Highly recommend!

There was a huge selection of books, music, Funko Pops, and tons of other items. The prices were reasonable, though, some of the plushies were ridiculously priced. (e.g., the little stuffed insect plague doctor has been $35 for a few years now ). Anyway, I wanted to shout out a special thank you to the employee who found my phone, immediately put it in the safe, and called the number I left on the lock screen to get it back to me. I was very touched by the thoughtfulness of those involved. I wanted to say thank you again

Getting through my experience has taken me over one year. Let me explain…read more I went in after researching dozens of times for help with a very specific special video project; a compilation video culminating my daughter's life up to her 30th birthday. The production was to be the only source of entertainment at her very elaborate 30th birthday party. The video was a critical component of the event because my daughter had selected a small venue at the Boathouse which had limited guest seating. I found this business, finally, about two weeks before the party. I knew that it was a tall order given the ask and time limits; full disclosure during our initial meeting. I left assured it would be done; and, relieved that a major task was in progress. I also believed that I would have an opportunity to review the video before the party. After leaving, the first week rolled by; no communication. In my mind, it's a big project so stay out of their hair so that they can focus and get it done. The second week comes; still not a single word. Now, I am worried but still thinking surely all is well given how I clearly it was explained regarding the importance of having the video on time. The evening before the party ... radio silence. So, finally, I inquire via email about the status. Then came the reply; it had not been done; not sure why! Speechless; should I have called? In hindsight, absolutely. The night before the party, instead of putting final plans in place, I sat rushing to compile a PowerPoint presentation of my daughter. The next day, I was contacted to--if I wanted to--stop by for a video that had been worked on since 6 a.m. on the same morning as the party. It was emailed as a gesture of good will, I think. Ironically, it looked almost identical to the PowerPoint I had created. Anger now. But, there is no time. I've got 100 things to do, which include a 1.5 hour drive to pick up Mom and decorate within a very narrow window before the party. Frazzled. Frustrated. The party was great; the video was horrible, no one watched it. It was more in the way than inviting and the bored look in some guests' faces is an image I will always remember. Plus, we have pictures as constant reminders. Because I did not want a bad relationship with this business and because my work in law keeps me insanely busy, it took me over one year to re-face this issue and pay the nearly $700.00 bill. The saving grace is that, although I did not get what I wanted for my daughter's birthday, I did get old VHS and a Beta tapes converted on to a USB. Words cannot express the range of emotions I felt seeing my daughter as a two year old again today. And, I am over the moon about seeing and hearing the voice of my now deceased father. For these reasons alone, I am happy and grateful. I would encourage anyone to convert their videos to a safe place before it's too late. The quality of the videos arent great but I guess that's because they are 30 years old. I am sorry that we had a major hiccup but I am very glad to have my old videos safe.

I took over 850 35mm slides from my family archives to get digitized. I was impressed when I first…read moretalked with the owner about the care they take with each slide when digitizing them. I also liked the idea that my slides were not being sent out of state to some lab. When I took my slides in I had them organized into 19 different stacks with each stack being a different folder. The name of each folder was clearly printed on top of each stack. The slides were also in chronological order within each stack. Each stack was also rubber banded together both ways to prevent any possible slippage. I also told them that all the slides were in the correct orientation as well so there was no guess work on their part about which way the slide should go. All this organization took me HOURS to do. When I picked up my order a couple weeks later I was shocked to find approx. 150 were reversed, some did not get scanned at all, some got scanned twice, some were in the wrong folders, a vast majority were out of chronological order and one of the original slides I did not get back at all. I was so disappointed that it took me a couple weeks to calm down before I called them. The owner initially was a little defensive but in the end offered me a chance to come back to the store and sit down with his employee who did this work and get everything corrected. After SEVERAL MORE hours of trying to figure out what had to be corrected in each folder, I made an appointment to go back in and get everything fixed. Within a few minutes of my arrival I was asked if I wanted a total refund, which I accepted and walked out the door with absolutely nothing to show for all the hours of work I put into this project. If you are looking for good customer service and attention to detail, sadly, I can not recommend this local business based on my experience.

I have never personally been to a bigger book selection in my life. Almost worth making the trip…read morejust to come to this place only for the books if you love books. Almost. They even have a decent number of CDs although they are priced higher than many Goodwills. Staff seems to be all volunteer. The staffer I encountered really knew his books like nothing else and he really understood vintage vs newer and how many different categories were integrated with each other. He also understood how some other volunteers might improperly categorize things and where to optimally try to look. He could tell that I had a sense of the different array of things in the store too. I was a bit surprised when he told me that he was here only part time. He was trying to see if he could give me a discount as he could tell I a bit surprised about the CD price. Even told me if I got one more CD or DVD that it would be $1 more. However, it was near closing and I just kept the purchase I had decided on. Two of the three CDs I got turned out not to be a win for me. Lol that is how it goes. He told me he worked here part time. He may've assumed I would come back here regularly. That person can feel free to reach out via private message if he was looking to build something more outside of the store. He was staying professional- and I was starting to get tired from a long trip and didn't want to hold him up from near closing time. He noticed my unique choose your own adventure shirt (with quality choices on the back) stuck out to him as did several other people in public.

They have comics, kids books, old and new, something from almost every genre and type. It's a pretty massive place and it was fun combing through their genres!
