Sweet flamkucken with apples and bananas - a great dessert!
Daira R.

Great restaurant for German food. They didn't have a full bar, so we stuck to beer and wine during the meal. I got the rahmachnitzel with kasespaetzel and my husband got the goulash. Both were really quite yummy. For dessert we got the special sweet flamkuchen. It was also good. We were very stuffed after our meal. We then decided to end our meal with the schnapps they had. I didn't love that, but my husband liked his. Would definitely return.

Built in the 1500s, this place exudes history and ambiance. Food was prepared expertly.

My wife and I made reservations to Gaststätte Spinnrädl for Valentine's Day. The server was very helpful and made the evening very pleasant. She recommended a wine that each of us would like which sounds basic, but she was spot on. I ordered the spinnrädl pfännchen which was very delicious and filling without being too heavy. For dessert I ordered the sweet tarte flambée with apples, banana, cinnamon, and sugar to share with my wife. It was basically a thin, dessert pizza but light, crispy, and very good. I fully recommend either dish or dessert on your visit. Prices are friendly as well with drinks, dinner, and dessert totalling only €45. You will not be disappointed. We will certainly visit again.

This was a great little find. Not too busy and had seating indoors/outdoors. We orders the Goulash, spinach dumplings, and the sesame cheese salad. Everything was very flavorful. We started off with the Sundowner Wine. This was perfect chilled for a warm summer evening. Fantastic option out server suggested.

Sausage, pork potato patty with mash and red cabbage

I had the sausage, pork patty with tiny potatoes in it as well as the mash potatoes and red cabbage something different and it may not look yummy after I put that mustard sauce on it but trust me it surely was good, will come here again and try the other foods. I underestimate this place every time I walked pass it but it was highly recommended by a co worker and I'm glad we tried it, inside is clean and food is great. Can't wait to come back and try the pumpkin soup.

This place gets very busy for a reason! I came here with my brother and a friend and we all enjoyed our meals. The Goulash was incredible! If you want delicious authentic German food then this is the place. Next time I'm in Germany I'll be eating here again.

Apple Strudel...yum!

This place definitely gets busy, so be prepared to talk over your neighbors. If you want authentic German food in a normally tourist-y area, you have to come here!! The prices are reasonable and the portions are great. You really can't go wrong no matter what you order! Be sure to have the chocolate pancakes for dessert-it'll be the best thing you'll ever eat on your trip! :)

Evening meal, reservation recommended. When you walk into this place you will quickly notice two things, the traditional ambiance and the local clientele. Both made us feel like this place was going to be good and it did not disappoint. Traditional food prepared by experienced and friendly staff. English menu available upon request.

Order this! Best Apple Streusel you will ever have!!!

This was probably one of the best breakfast spots in the area. We also enjoyed many local German dishes and the coffee was magnificent.

First time back in over 3 years. Food and service was still fantastic. If you leave here without trying the Apple streusel it's your loss.

Classic German restaurant. Very friendly and busy. The schnitzel was great through the Spätzle was disappointing.

Great German food. I haven't had a bad meal here yet. Definitely a place everyone should eat at while in Kaiserslautern.

Yeah, not feeling it…read more Moloney's is somewhere I drifted away from after never leaving fully satisfied. It seems to have a reputation amongst the people that go there as an institution. As if no other place existed to get drinks, Moloney's it is! This place just doesn't have what I look for in a bar. I'm not a bar snob, hell, I'm not even a big bar goer, I'm just a guy who seems to like a different kind of atmosphere. I suppose this place is just a matter of taste on how you prefer bars. I love pubs, Irish pubs at that because of what they carry. Irish whiskey and dark stouts are what make my life complete. And their drink selection is impressive, but for those who don't love standing in long lines or fighting through tons of people to a speedwell, it just doesn't mean much. And call me old, but I've spent more time on my feet on Moloney's then I have at any other bar in Kaiserslautern. Unless you're ready to get there early, or seriously fight for some table space, it's not worth it. I don't drink to get drunk, and I don't like to get rowdy when I drink. Moloney's caters to both. Like a previous reviewer said, you can actually do shots with the owner and staff. For some people that's a great way to have fun and meet people, I have no problems with that. For me, I see that as a huge red flag for industry unprofessionalism. I think Moloney's knows their target audience, and I'm not that person. I can't hardly fault a place for trying to be something to everyone, because it's obviously doing well. My two-cents? This place is awful.

It's a place with a cool vibe and the perfect place to people watch. We returned to Germany again this summer and were happy that we visited this spot again. This time I tried their schnitzel in a creamy mushroom sauce and it was delicious. I also tried their Long Island iced tea which was refreshing, but not as potent as most Long Islands I've had. I also ordered and enjoyed a cool and pretty strawberry drink with tart fruit atop. It is sold as a nonalcoholic drink, but I had spirits added to it. Another great experience at BarCode. Will return!
