We've been here twice recently and the service is both friendly and excellent; the food copious and tasty. Our first time, my mom and I split a schnitzel as the dish was so big, we didn't need our own. The second, we all ordered steaks with baked potatoes and each steak came with two humongous baked potatoes. We took part of our steak dinners home and they were equally good as leftovers. I visit Kaiserslautern about twice a year and we decided to come here for a casual after work dinner. I loved how close it was to SAKS, my hotel and that I could get schnitzel. I don't eat pork but LOVE a good schnitzel and can indulge when they are veal or chicken. Our server was very nice and attentive. We all got Pilsners and a schnitzel a piece. OMG they were huge! 2 very large schnitzels topped with mushrooms and onions with a side of potatoes. I have had some very authentic home cooked schnitzel, so this one didn't have a chance to compare, but for a small restaurant in the city center, they were excellent. Very crispy yet juicy. Once we checked into our hotel, we walked to what seemed the main part of town and discovered Brauhaus am Markt. We're given menus that have pictures with both a German and English explanation for each entree. This is my first meal in Germany so I want start with Schnitzel and a beer. I must point out, as an American we're used to a pint when being served a draft beer. I swear, these supersized glasses are 1.5 to 2 pints. Huge! My meal is served to me and the schnitzel is cooked amazing. Nice tasting schnitzel and served with a side of mushroom gravy. Now I'm an American and there are fries on the plate. Is there no ketchup being served? I look around, this is a ketchupless country?? We're seating street level, people are smoking at their tables after their meals. Brauhaus, I was served a great meal. This was my first time to this brewhouse. I was able to visit dueling Oktoberfest days, so of course I had to have their seasonal Oktoberfest beer. Needless to say, the beer was amazing and I ended up having more than my fair share...It was just that good! I ended up ordering the curry brats which came with fries and d a side salad. In my opinion, the salad was amazing, the fries were decent, and the brats were good but not great. The brats came with what tasted like a sweet bbq sauce and had curry put on top. I asked for a sauce for my fries since they needed something a little extra and my waitress brought out Brazil sauce... I don't know what it is, but I do know that stuff was fire!!!! Friendly staff welcomed a large party of eight. Waiter was friendly and patient. The beer was solid. Portion sizes were huge. I could only eat house of my dish. The house salad dressing was tasty. Best food court in Florence. Definitely worth going to check out, have a meal, and stuff yourself. When I first saw it on the map, I thought it was just a market. It was actually a market place with a giant food court in the market with everything for sale is actually outside. When you go in, you'll see all the food everywhere and they have local dishes. When you walk around that even give you samples of the Florentine steak. We went to three different Florentine steak restaurants, and the food court actually had some of the most tender well cooked steak. The prices for the steak here are actually way better. Once you find a And get your food, you can wait for a server to come and they will ask you if they want to get you any drinks. This was the first German restaurant that I had the fortune of visiting on the day I arrived and I've been back many times since. The food here is fantastic, especially if you are a big fan of schnitzel. I've also had their steak, more pricey, but worth every Euro! This is a full service brewery too with at least four beers made here and on tap. I've had the weizen, pils, helles lager, and a dunkel. Each are good beers for their styles. My only beef with this place is that service is sometimes slow. Food and beer comes quickly enough but you might wait a bit to get your check. If you stay at the Saks hotel, this is a short walk around the corner and worth a visit. Same goes for anyone else in the area. Prost! read more

They have English menus with just about every major German plate as an option, especially the Pfälzisch section if you try to sell visitors on the real local experience. I can say the service is great and the atmosphere is relaxing. It's nice being able to people watch and enjoy company in such a central area. As for food, I've had their veggie dish which was spinach ravioli balls in a cheese cream sauce. I've also had their chicken bowl with potatoes, salad, pesto, dressing and veggies. We literally picked a restaurant that looked the most busy. We did this assuming the more people were at the restaurant the better the food would be. I am so glad I went with this common sense of logic. The food, in fact, ended up being so delicious in the mist of our hunger. Tips: -Order their potato side rather than their rice. My favorite potato side was their fried potato. The fried potato comes out similar to home fries like back in the states. - order their beer sampler and then from there you can decide which one of the beers you want to order a larger size of. The beer sampler is about 3.5 euros. So it's a cheap way to try a wide range of their beer selection. This beer sampler comes with four different sample size of their more popular beers. 2 light beers, one middle beer and one dark beer. - eat outside on the patio if the whether allows it. - order your steak medium rare in order to receive it as medium. (Kind of disappointed in this) Overall, the food really blew me away. I am so happy I stumble across this restaurant on my Germany adventure. read more

This place was OK. Definitely a 3 1/2 or 4 star but I had a bad experience where the waitress forgot one our our dishes and did not get it out for over an hour. It was just a salad. The waitress ran off with my change and never came back. She gave herself at 32.00€ tip for bad service on a 106€ bill. Very frustrating. Food was alright. They had schnitzel and steak. I did not get the steak but it seems that is their specialty dish. They make their own beer which is cool but I'm still new to germany and would like to try all the great German beers before dipping into local craft beer. The helles bier, as I said, is wonderful. Unless you've got a lot of drinkers skip the bier towers which really don't save much money and just allow the bier to warm up... My wife had the Brauhaus salad which she enjoyed. I had the gratinee flammkuchen which was good as well (I've had the schnitzels before and was underwhelmed so I went with something different this time). The seasonal beer was a west coast pale ale with flavors of mango and hops. The Hefeweizen is perfect for a hot day or anytime as a light beer. A German classic always on tap with hints of banana and clove. The Schnitzel Salad is incredible!! Order it with the house dressing which is delectable, and it also comes with quark on the side. Unfortunately, that beer isn't particularly good, with the same kind of hefeweizens, kellerbiers, and helles that you can find from larger producers. There was a saisonbier - a red pale ale - that was a little more distinctive, but nothing to make me come back. The marginal draw of the homebrewed beer is bolstered by the expansive patio dining options available for people-watching the many visitors of downtown Kaiserslautern. In the marketplace area...looks a lil shady but well worth the venture from Ramstein AFB. Ordered the Brunch which was all you can eat buffet that also had Mimosa for just €1,50 ! It had classic scrambled American eggs,sausage and bacon or full on german breads with cheeses and meats. Assorted fruits and a make your own crepe station. Really worth the money in my opinion.
