We had a fantastic experience visiting this shop while on vacation. My husband who just usually comes along said he really liked this place too. He actually picked out the yarn for a sweater he wants me to make because he wanted to give them our business. The lady there was super helpful even letting us borrow a tape measure and calculater to make sure we bought e ough yarn to complete the project. If we visit New Hampshire in the future we will make sure to go back. read more

This is a fantastic Local Yarn Store. They've got a great selection in a variety of weights, brands, and colors. They've always been super friendly and they really know their stuff. A nice local yarn store. Pretty good selection, including a few yarns I'd never seen before. The staff was friendly but not pushy. The prices are about average. I didn't find anything I needed to have, and walked out empty handed. But I did see some nice stuff and got some new ideas for things to work on. I don't know if this is a go-to shop for me, but I wouldn't mind stopping in next time we're in town. read more

Having been disappointed at another store I drove an hour to Dover. As an advanced knitter, when I enter a store I'm usually looking for something specific. I expect to be greeted and offered help. For a novice, yarn stores can be intimidating and I think it's important to put people at ease with friendly attention. Spinning Yarns is both. They bend over backward to accommodate. read more

This store has a lot to offer in a small, cozy space. There are yarns for every taste and for every type of project, but there are definitely more luxury yarns than most other shops this size. The woman who was tending the store (the owner, I assume) is so friendly and attentive that I will be back as soon as possible. I live far away from this shop but I will stop in whenever we get down to New Hampshire. She told me that she has great sales a couple of times a year and I have plans to take a trip down to her shop when she sends the notice to those who are on her email list...I don't usually sign up for the email list when I am visiting shops while on vacation but this store totally won me over and I will be going down to visit them again. read more

I'm a beginning knitter who just moved to Dover, and was struggling with a seaming problem, so I decided to bring my knitting over to Spinning Yarns to see if they wouldn't mind helping me through it. Margot (the owner, I assume) didn't even blink an eye when I showed her my project- she took the time to teach me how to do a particular stitch, and then even watched me seam for a while, to make sure I had it down pat. I can't speak more highly of how nice and helpful she was, and I'm so excited to go back and buy some beautiful yarn! read more
