There's been an obvious shift in "community" values regarding the use of on-site laundry facilities…read morewhere we live: one unit/apartment taking 3-4 washers at a time, or one individual using two dryers at a time; people leaving their wet wash or dry clothes in the machines for well over 30 minutes; broken equipment without a warning sign (This incident had me walking to Target and back for big a** drying racks after the last 63 bus of the evening had passed.); offensive-sized pieces of trapped lint on the floor instead in the available garbage bin; and a broken thermostat case with its cover on the floor. And wouldn't you know that this psychological downgrade happened after our machines were upgraded with smart technology to, among other things, inform residents via an app when/where we could do our laundry and when our clothes would be ready? #PièceDeRésistance The aformentioned vandalism in one of our complex' laundry rooms was the last shameless straw for me (No, not the dryer racks purchase.). So yesterday I was ready to return to the laundromat scene. We picked Fondren Washateria by chance after missing the 63 in the opposite direction. Wowee Zowee! The clean and brightly-lit biz welcomed us with huge cushy arm chairs (different from the ones pictured here and on Google Reviews), reclining massage chairs, and spankin' new gambling machines at the entrance. We couldn't pass the wash-n-fold station without being greeted and offered laundry cards with $5 on each one. No, I wasn't expecting criminal activity before walking in, but I was surprised by the old-school customer service, which didn't end here. When the woman who greeted us wasn't doing her thing in the wash-n-fold area behind the counter, she was making active rounds in the self-service area where we were, and she was armed with cleaning spray and a cloth. If I didn't get a thorough answer to my questions during my experience, info was volunteered to help me do my laundry without confusion or frustration. And I could tell I was dealing with a pro when the same staffer on duty who greeted us was able to test the weight of my bags and confirm that I'd be able to use the small washers. And the washer sizes! They're not just labeled like clothing. Each machine has a sticker that translates their S/M/L/XL sizes into 20lbs, 30lbs, 45lbs, 62lbs, and 77lbs. And the two dryer sizes hold up to 50lbs and 67lbs. They don't play here. #AbundanceMentality There are enough machines and everything else, imo, at Fondren Washateria to thwart anyone's scarcity mindset or whatever other cray I simply can't make time for in shared laundry spaces gone awry. And if you're lucky enough to catch the busy bee who helped us as you're leaving here, be prepared for her to send you off in a way that'll leave you feeling like you found your new laundromat. Thank you, Fondren Washateria! We won't be able to make it to this weekend's barbecue you've planned for your customers, but we appreciate the invite. You'll see us soon enough.

It is located next to a gas station. Parking is limited, but there are a few extra spaces on the side of the building. To use the machines, you'll need to purchase a card and load money onto it. The card is $1 and can be purchased at the kiosk. You can also use the kiosk to add funds to the card. If you need assistance, there are employees at the counter. They were young, but very polite and helpful. The counter area also had laundry supplies for sale. The heavy duty washers ranged from $8-9. Some of the washers are tall so pouring detergent, fabric softener, etc. into the compartment may be difficult if you're short. I didn't realize it until after the fact, but they have step ladders that you can use if you need a boost. The employees were using them to clean the tops of the machines. They have lots of rolling carts which came in handy. They even had some laundry baskets for customer use. The laundromat is quite spacious and there's plenty of seating. They offer free water and have vending machines too (or you can grab a snack at the convenient store next door). If you need the WiFi password, just ask one of the employees. I noticed a TV in the middle of the room, but it was muted. There's also a few video poker machines. The name says it all. Spotless Washateria is truly spotless. Employees were cleaning machines, mopping floors, wiping down the folding tables, etc. on a regular basis. I'll definitely return the next time I need to do heavy duty laundry.
