I wish I could give negative stars. I don't even know where to start. I went to this club on Friday technically Saturday since it was already 1:30 am for MDW. It looked sketchy from the outside, which made me a little hesitant, but once I got inside the music was cool. I thought the cover charge($25) was ridiculous considering we were only there for an hour because they closed at 3 that night. I was sober and I bought a water from the bar and started dancing in front of that bar, by the dance floor which is on the first floor. Then we are being told the club is "closing and time to go home". So once I step outside I hear someone asking if they have seen a gold iPhone, so that prompts me to go and grab my phone out of my purse and it's missing. I never took my phone out of my purse while I was there. But I thought maybe it fell out and it still might be at Spin. Saturday I try and contact every social media platform Spin has and I even found a number for someone that works there and explained that I can't come back on Tuesday at 2. They told me I could come in that day and check to see if my phone was there. I then went back to the club that night because I had tickets to see Jackbeats and Ac Slater and to see if my phone was there. I WISH I had NEVER gone back that night. AT ALL. It was one of the worst nights ever of my life. Right, when I got to the club I went to the ticket booth and informed them that I spoke to someone and asked about my phone, they went and got some security guard and said he was head of something. I told him what my phone looked like and he pretty much ignored what I said. He then went into this room and then less than a minute came back and goes "Yeah, no phone". I asked him if he was sure because that was really fast. And he said: "I don't know, the cleaning people probably haven't gotten it or maybe they did. I have no idea". I just said whatever because he just brushed me off anyways. By this point, it was maybe 10:45-11 and I got my first drink there (Vodka soda water) everything was fine I forgot about my phone for a moment. My friends and I then went upstairs to check out the club and how they have fire pits, used the restroom, and looked at the dance floor from upstairs. So we sat there and talked chit chatted etc. I had finished my drink already and we went downstairs and danced. Then we left to go use the restroom so we went back upstairs and decided one more drink would be okay, we're still pretty sober and two drinks, is nothing crazy. I would say it was now 1:30-1:45 when I got the 2nd vodka soda. I stayed upstairs to chit chat and sit down by the fire, stand and pose for pictures with friends etc. I finished HALF OF THAT DRINK and we all went downstairs to dance. 15-20 mins later on the dance floor, I felt extremely sick. To the point, I felt like I was going to vomit. It felt like I had down 4-5 tequila shots plus drinks. When I had 0 shots. I remember going to the restroom and vomiting but not being able to see or walk. I have no idea how i got outside the club by the front door. I do remember a security guard yelling at me/ Standing over me. BUT I DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING BEFORE THAT OR AFTER. I had realized that I was drugged I have never felt like that in my life. I never left my drink unattended and I never took my drink on the dance floor. The next day I learned that my friend also had her phone stolen from her purse that night. I am so happy and lucky that nothing happened to me. But it just shows you how scary things are and the types of things/ people that go there. I will never go back. I have spoken with a few people from Spin about the situation and luckily so far they have been kind. read more

Such a fun club! Ego Trip night was a blast! I was super impressed that this hidden gem is located in San Diego. I felt like I was teleported to a different city. Not just your run of the mill club with basic bartenders and basic Dj's. The music is top and the bar staff really make this place too. I went to the upstairs bar and the bartender Allie was such a rockstar. She was clearly super busy but made time to interact with a smile and made jokes along the way! Coming from Chicago I have always been accustom to bars closing at 4 and 5am so I was stoked to find out that Spin is open after hours. When I was 21, my dad always warned me that nothing good happens after 2am and Spin is no exception. Well I shouldn't go that far as to say its bad.....I mean it is one of the only places to go after everything else closes. Just know what your getting yourself into. It's a techno dance club. If there is one thing I learned from here its that staying out is definitely not as fun if the booze isn't flowing, but you can't blame Spin for California law. I'm sure if it was up to them they'd be intoxicating their patrons as late as people would be buying. It is what it is so either be a fan of the genre of music or get yourself drunk enough to not give a sh** beforehand. It is pretty massive though and there were people in there that seemed to love the so-called music (some might say beeps) that was being played. The annoying thing was the bouncer the made us wait 5 minutes to let us in to a place that was near empty. We decided bed was a better option about 15 minutes into Spinning. If I ever understand this genre of tunes I'd probably go back, but I don't see that happening any time soon. read more

Long story short, I dress my best, stroll up to the doors, pay my cover, smoothly slide in, and indulge in twerk heaven, booty shaking paradise,and a grinding buffett. The manner of dancing that advances in here, well, lets just say that if a lost elderly hitchhiker accidently walked in, he or she would think to themselves "hmm, they do it with clothes on nowadays I see, who woulda thunk." The hitchhiker would make a quick exit upon noticing that Spin was not the destination. After reaching wherever they had to go, the hitchhiker would sit down near a desk, scratch their head and softly murmur to the theirself, " With clothes on? Around everyone else? SPIN used to be called Club Montage (http://www.yelp.com/biz/club-montage-san-diego) until the name was changed to '2028 Hancock" (http://www.yelp.com/biz/2028-hancock-san-diego) around April 2008 when Giant Club Production gained partial ownership in the club and moved to SPIN from Belo. In August 2008 the name to was changed to SPIN--as 2028 was just a temporary name. When Giant gained partial ownership of SPIN, the club was remodeled and looks pretty good, but not fantastic. A lot of really well known electronic dance music producers come on Giant Fridays--mostly progressive/electro house. Sometimes they bring in deep house or trance, but not too often. They used to have gay nights on Saturdays, but they stopped it. Now, they just have Top 40/Hip-hop on Saturdays. I've never gone there on Saturdays because it's no my scene. The club is in the Middletown warehouse/industrial district (exit west on 'Old Town' Ave. and go straight) and is modeled like a typical warehouse club. It has a two story (one room) main room with the second story balcony with some sit down areas. Both floors have a bar. There is a roof top desk (third floor) with a bar, fire pit, and heat lamps. It gets a little crowded sometimes. There is another smaller deck attached to the second floor that connects to a smaller room that usually pays hip-hop or some kind of funky house--always different genre of music than the main room. Pros: -Clouds of mist shoot out into the middle of the dance floor cooling you off. -Very relaxed dress code -Open until 3:30/4:00am -Not many 'thug' types (on Fridays) -Free street parking (might have to walk a little) -No police outside to arrest for public intoxication or DUI -Often seating for non-vip or ppl without table reservations -Three minute walk from Washington Street Trolley station -Security are relaxed -Sometimes the first 200 people that arrive on the guest list are free entry. Cons: -The brick walls are a plain; overall decor needs improvement -Male to female ratio about 3:2 -Could do a little better on the sound system -The club gets really packed when big names come in, so it's hard to dance (if you move your feet a lot) on the first floor until after 2 am when the people not rolling leave. --There is usually room to dance on the second floor, but better to get bottle service if it's going to be a really packed. -They bring back the same DJs over and over. Often the same DJ two or three times a year instead of bringing in fresh talent. -They don't bring in many deep house, tech house, minimal house, or breakbreat DJs. read more

This place left a bad taste in my mouth even before I set foot in the doors. It was 1am on a Saturday night and my crew was looking for another spot where we can hang out. A buddy found this place. It wasn't until we reached the doors after a 10 minute uber ride that we were told it was a 30 dollar cover charge? Really? It's 1am. You're only open for another 2 hours tops and you're still charging cover? Ridiculous. Not even clubs in San Francisco pull that crap. If it were me running the place, I would let the stragglers come in for free and bank on the amount of drinks they're going to try to sneak in the last hour or so. You'll definitely make your money's worth. And besides, the outside of this place reminds me of the setting when you watch the news and someone gets shot outside a club - in a weird abandoned house in the middle of nowhere. Ok sooo...I read plenty of reviews before going to Spin this weekend and I have to mostly disagree with other people. Yes, it's in a sort of weird space but it was easy to find nevertheless. The bouncer at the door was super nice and inviting. Bartenders were cooler than most I've encountered at these sort of venues, although their pours were a little on the weak side. The space itself was pretty small, however I enjoyed the intimacy that allowed. I've never been THAT close to the DJ without being smashed or super hot. Plenty of room to dance and drink the night away. There were also zero lines in the ladies room and the gal working in there was super sweet. No complaints here, I would definitely go back. read more

Give em a break, one of the last late night spots in San Diego. Often a total bargain, since it is not the "in place" right now. If the DJ is good, you will have a great time. Once in a while it seems less crowded than it should be to get that good vibe going, but it is a really big club. They appreciate the business and are not stuck up like at most other clubs. Dear Spin, I do not understand how you could charge $10 for water. Are you seriously kidding me when you're charging more for water than you would a kamikaze?! GET OUT. The venue has this underground feel to it but you know what, it's because it's in a ghetto area of SD. The sound system is not that great which did no justice to the awesome dj-ing by overwerk which was the only reason I had ventured here for. This place used to be called the Montage. How can you guys be so pretentious to think of charging people that much for water?! Then, to not even offer tap water? So you're saying, if someone was in trouble of heat stroke or something from the humidity in the club and the heat generated from everything, that you would rather let that person pass out then offer some water? Drove all the way from LA to see my faaaaaavorite DJ (Judge Jules) spin. The club itself is not pretentious and staff is friendly. Drinks were definitely pricey and not that stiff. Tiny bottles of water cost $4, which is typical at any house/progressive places. Plenty of seating upstairs, except they closed it off and moved us downstairs at around 2am. There's a nice smoking patio and a separate small room/dance floor upstairs, apart from the main stage. Parking is free. Speakers could use an upgrade. The dance floor is sunken in, so when the party is just gettin' started, it's kind of awkward staring at 1 or 2 weirdos showing off their stuff. Diverse crowd. Cool people who really dig music. Definitely a nice escape from the bump n grind douchebag-clubs in Hollywood!! I'd only come back to see a really good DJ perform. I used to go to this place when it was Montage a few years ago and recently I went to back to hear Crystal Method and Kaskade. The interior of this place has pretty much remained unchanged. It's a pretty mixed crowd and you'll find people both dressed-up and dressed-down. Parking at this place is hit or miss. All parking is streetside and on a busy night you might have to walk a few blocks (ladies, make sure you roll in groups as it's a dark industrial area you'll be walking through). Hands-down, my biggest problem with this place are the bartenders. They mostly suck. Instead of serving people turn-by-turn they play the "who has the biggest order" game and just serve whoever shoves their way in and yells the loudest, never mind how long you've been waiting. I could be that dick that just waves his cash or credit at you and demands to be served but that's not how I like to operate. The bar is a semi-circle that you work from one end of to another--it's not difficult people. I know it gets busy at times but that's no excuse to just ignore whole sections of a bar even if you're the only bartender there. One thing I do like about this place is that it stays open late. Hopefully the proprietors of this joint will come across this review and coach their bartenders on the proper way to serve their clientele. read more

I really wanted to like what they did with the place with their upgraded laser and lighting system but there's just so much fail going on. Well maybe it's because I'm not going to Giant events like everyone else who is happy with the place. Is there really that many "international" acts coming through that's worthy to see every week? Are these name brand djs any good lie compared to their studio mixtapes? Sometimes even DJ's I'm really into show up in SD and just suck balls, I'm thinking it's something about SD crowds that bring it out in them. Anyways, so on the occasions I went to support local DJs and industry friends (and these are established people who do fine elsewhere) the place has been empty! I have yet to see the rooftop open or the side room wtf? This is with different types of music, different cover prices, and different types of guest lists from free to discounted. five stars because I was primarily sober, and I still loved it! I went on a Sunday night after a disappointing trip downtown San Diego club and bar hoping. It is reggae/dance hall/African night on Sundays so this was our ideal club. The DJ was sooo good I could have married him if he has asked that night. The crowd was primarily African that night. i was dancing literally the entire time and yes, i did fall flat on my ass at some point. It was a little over crowded and it got stuffy at some point. Other than that, i cant complain because it was the first time i had been to a mainstream club on the west coast that played African music, movado, d'banj, ice prince, some other Afro beats, hip hop and dance hall in the same night. Don't bother calling this establishment and setting up bottle service. You'll be quoted one price only to find out it's something completely different. We tried debating this fact with the club promoter and ended up getting kicked out without even getting in. This was after the fact we accepted the 'new' prices. Excellent sound system, but horrible club... and I'm a hard-core house listener, and club frequenter. 5 million bouncers and security guards that keep telling you "don't sit there" and pat your ass every time they walk by. Empty promises, specifically not letting you stamp-out to come back in later (because you're hungry) and telling you "there's food upstairs" when in actuality, there is NOT. Unless food is horrible nachos w/stale chips, or, hot dogs. So I guess that leaves one, very generous, star. I will stick to San Francisco, or leave it to Club Envy w/some pre-partying so I don't get sent back half a week's pay check just for buying a few rounds... Pros: *free parking! I usually end up paying 20 bucks for parking when I go to Vanguard or Avalon in LA, because I hate having to walk far after dancing til 4-7am. Here, it's easy to find free parking, which is a huge bonus. A little walk maybe, but not bad. *Open late- 3:30/4 am :) *Many big name Djs come through on Friday nights Cons: *Expensive drinks that aren't very strong. *Small dance floors that gets PACKED. I go here ONLY on Giant Fridays because being a Giant sponsored club, they bring in famous international DJs that I REALLY like- I've seen Satoshi Tomie, Crystal Method, Hernan Cattaneo, etc. here. *I have only been here on Friday nights, so I can't comment on what it's like on other nights- I hear it's a very different crowd (and music). *I've found that most of the Friday night crowd is here to see the DJ and dance their heads off. It's not as bad of a meat market as it could be- relatively fewer creepers. Creepers can't be avoided, but I've found it them to be fewer in #s and also less aggressive here. It's a relatively small club- nothing gynormous like Avalon or Vanguard in LA. I actually like that it's small- it makes it easy to meet up with friends and also find friends if you get separated. I've also found that the crowd is pretty friendly, and you start to see a lot of familiar faces after a while. I also enjoy the rooftop deck and fire pit- great place to get away from the dance floor and have a conversation/drink/smoke. There's no DJ spinning up here, so it's possible to have a conversation at normal volume up here. I actually like this. There's also a second floor with smaller rooms that plays different genres from the main floor- but I've never spent any time in them. The second floor also has a small area with couches if you want to take a break but still hear the music. I'm actually quite happy with this club, and glad this place exists- otherwise, I'll have to make the trek up to LA to go dance my lil feet off to electronica til 4 am. read more

My buddy and I had heard a lot of good things about Club Spin, and for his 21st, we decided to check it out. We went on a Saturday and showed up at 10:30. Payed the hefty $20 cover, and walked in. Nobody was there. I don't mean dead like a handful of people here and there being quiet. I mean dead like I thought they were closed and we got scammed for $20 by a hobo that broke into the ticket both. The upstairs bar was just closing, and the only other patrons were two people talking in the corner. At least he DJ was still doing his job and spinning music. The upstairs DJ said it was a weird off night and that maybe something big was happening downtown. We went downtown and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Maybe it's just best to only go on Fridays when they have big headliner DJ's. read more

Pros - Easy to park and easy to get to from northern SD. The security was very thorough. Guys had to take everything out of their pockets and get a complete pat down. Being that I went a week after the Orlando shooting I really appreciated the good security. A bunch of these reviews said bad things about the guards, I didn't have that experience personally or see anything like that but they were kind of scary so I wouldn't be surprised if some were not such savory characters. There were some really cool artists selling their wares when I went and I bought some awesome stickers. Cons - The staff wasn't very friendly. I didn't like the crowd much and the tunes were horrible the night I went. I wasn't drinking but the drink selection didn't look great. One bartender tried to charge me for water, what a jerk. Than I started drinking soda water with bitters and lemon and nobody tried to charge me for that. The music was very boring repetitive house. It was very uninspiring and I could barely dance. There were also these hot scantly clad girls that the club or party organizers had hired or something. They had great outfits but it felt kind of sleazy and weird when they came into rooms to dance. Not my scene but not a horrible place. All in all not a great spot in my eyes, I definitely wont go there again. read more

Spin is a very very nice looking place. From the outside it kinda looks like a warehouse. They have great music and they are bringing in really good djs. I loved the second floor where you can smoke and hang out....They are pretty picky with IDs so don't try to use a fake one here unless its amazing and you know everything about it. haha. Servers are nice. They have a huge dance floor and it is 3 stories. If the party is wild, the place is open until 4am. Definitely check this place out at least once. read more

The DJs were awesome! They are personal friends. However, after spending at least $60 on drinks, I asked for water.... the club owner will NOT even allow tap water for hydration. $4 they demand. Not only is this unethical imho, but downright illegal and has the potential of sending home peeps dehydrated and drunk. The desert hearts party here on 4/11/15 was the best party I went to all year! (I've only been here once for this awesome party so the club may vary depending on the event) 1. Pulled right up, walked right in, friendly bouncers, no line. 2. AMAZING SET UP! Big main room on the ground level with a loungey couch area to chill on both sides of the dance floor and a huge bar in the back. There's an elevator that takes you up to the second floor (the balcony), it overlooks the dance floor and has cool art and merch booths set up. There's also a bathroom, a smokers patio, and a few seating areas on this floor. If you take the elly up to the rooftop there's another DJ with a huge seating area, and a huge bar. I mean honestly what an awesome layout for a nightclub! 3. The music is amazing! Underground techno and house. 4. General Admission, no VIP, no restricted VIP areas/bathrooms. This ultimately leads to good vibes and a good crowd because people don't act above anyone else. We all just got along and enjoyed the music without the bullshit status of "popping bottles". 5. The party I went to went from 9pm-9am. They shut the bar down at 2am (dumb Cali law) and then opened back up again at 6am (dope). If you are like me and are unimpressed with: bouncers with snarky attitudes, VIP assholes, and not being allowed in because one of your guy friends is wearing a t shirt, then this is the place for you. Fantastic layout and good size crowd. I was there with friends for a fashion show and we had a great time. I wasn't digging the music that night, but it was still fun and the drinks were pretty decent. Tip: Go as a group and actually walk around the club to check out the other rooms. Everyone is so stoked about the lasers...calm down already. I mean they're cool, but you don't hit up a club because of the cool lasers; at least I don't. Music was cool, but I swear the dj played the same song twice within a 30 min period; which has to be against some clubbing law. Bartenders are staff were cool. Giant seems to be breathing life into San Diego with their Friday monthlies at Spin. For house heads Miguel Migs, Cedric Gervais and Derrick Carter have all made the rounds recently and trance gets some representation too although I don't follow it that much these days. The main room is large, has one bar and would be better if the dance floor was at the same level as the main floor. The mezzanine area is large, contains a bar and both restrooms. An outdoor area leads to the Top 40 room and it's associated bar. The rooftop deck has a bar, taco stand and plenty of outdoor seating. read more

Wow, was this ever a crapfest. It takes a lot for me to give a place a one-star rating, but this club went out if its way to do so. Never have I been around such interesting characters, yet so extraordinarily bored at the same time. First let's start with the parking. After driving in a 4-block radius and not finding a single open spot, I caved in and went to valet. The sign says $20, which made me really not want to use it, but then they only charged me $10...so that was okay. But still, I'd rather have walked a couple blocks. Got in the door and got charged $20 per person. This rate can change depending on which DJ they have playing that night, but still...$20 cover for a shady looking place? Really? And they don't stamp, so there's no re-entry. If you forgot something in your car, you'd better leave it or get ready to pay another $20 to get back in. At a loss of $50 now (one ticket for me, one for my date), we head into the bar and order a couple drinks. She gets a Grey Goose and tonic, I get a Jack and coke. Charge is $19. Whatever. If it was a trendy downtown club, I'd expect it to be that expensive, but for this place I was expecting half that. I shrugged and paid. Then I drank. What...the...hell. The drink was so watered down, I couldn't even taste the Jack Daniels in it. I tasted the Grey Goose and tonic as well...absolutely horrible. I love Grey Goose, and this tasted like they emptied it out and filled it with some watered-down Popov. I would have set the drink down and walked away had I just not wasted so much money on it. The club was pretty empty when we first arrived (around 11:30), but started filling out a bit after about an hour. We walked around the various rooms, but the best part of it was the rooftop. People say it has a commanding view of downtown, but even that's not so great...there's sort of a giant wall in the way. Went into the dancing pit after a while and tried to get into the music, but it was pretty jumpy with too many lulls between. The only good part about this club was the interesting characters. The ones that are absolutely tripping on acid or took some ecstasy...you know, pacifier in mouth, glow sticks swirling around in the air. Dancing completely out of beat with the music but looking like they're having the time of their life. That was at least interesting to watch, but also got old pretty fast. That's about the time we decided to head out. Music was okay. Crowd was interesting. The club itself - absolute hellhole. Don't come here unless you're extremely into techno, tripping balls and looking for something to do, or just have too much money and want to throw it at a pointless cause. I'd really suggest you take yourselves, and your money, and just go downtown - it's not that much further down the road. read more

YEAH! My friend is lucky I trusted her to drive me out to the middle of nowhere to a frickin' warehouse. She got us on a guestlist somehow, which meant free entry but only if we got there before 10pm. This had its pros and cons - the pro being that finding (free) street parking right across the street was a breeze, but the con being the place was DEAD. Once more people showed up and I had a few drinks in me, though, I had a blast. Huge dance floor, pure clubbing music, fog machines oooooooh. Unfortunately, getting there before 10pm made for a loooong night for being stuck at one club. I much prefer to club hop. Spin is open "after hours" (although you can't buy alcohol) and I had every intention of staying out late... FAIL. I love me some house music but it did start to blend together by about 2:30 am. Also halfway through the night I went to the bar to get some water, and they made me buy bottled water... I hate that! Overall though... fun night! read more

Located near a bunch of warehouses in Old Town, the first time your Lyft pulls up to drop you off, you may be confused. You'll get out, and probably find a line out the door, and anywhere between a $10-$40 cover charge. The venue allows different artists and promotion companies to rent out the space for the night. So although the bartenders and bouncers are always the same - what you get inside can vary widely. I prefer the Desert Hearts and Burning Man nights. Lots of house and techno, they usually have artists and vendors setup upstairs, and often the roof is open too. They also have everything from Lucent (Trance), to some more main stream artists like Chromeo, and my friends went one night for a "leather and lace" party. The crowd can also vary depending on the previously mentioned artists. I've been to super packed nights where it's honestly hard to dance (on the dance floor, or even off of it), and the girls bathroom line is usually pretty awful. They serve alcohol until 2am, but then stay open all night long! (or however late the artists that night plan on playing for). But don't expect a "discounted" cover charge if you show up after 2am - you usually have to pay the same price everyone who showed up at 11pm paid! Overall my favorite "night club" in San Diego, but mostly for the music it brings in. read more

The music was bangin. Idgaf what anyone says, I thought the DJ was good!! The layout is really interesting and after a few drinks, pretty confusing. The rooftop was cool and not too chilly. The FOOD was surprisingly good. The drinks were weak and overpriced. Glad we pre-gamed. Overall, had a good time! I was already feeling good when I got there, tho... So parking lot pimp it for a bit or prepare to run up a huge tab on frustratingly crappy drinks. read more

My first (and probably only experience) at Spin wasn't half bad. I don't go "clubbing" it's just not my "thing" HOWEVER the Glamour & Glow event caught my attention and I was very intrigued to check out this club on the outskirts of my stomping ground. We found a spot within just a few minutes of turning onto Hancock, only about 3 blocks away. Walk up to the door (I had tickets waiting for me there) but the Bouncer was a total ass and said unless you have tickets in your hand you need to get in line. As much as I try to explain to him that I was told to go to the door he doesn't care and sends me to the back of the line. *yawn* Luckily one of the promo girls asked me what was up and when I told her, she went to the other guy and had him check.. Sure 'nuff I didn't need to be in line. We got in and headed straight to the bar. It was being hosted for the first hour (9-10) so we had about 20 minutes to get our "free" drink on. The bartender was kick ass and said drink em fast and I'll pour them faster! We pounded 3 Vodka Redbulls each and gave him a nice little thank you tip. We then decided to check out the rest of the venue. There were 3 stories, the top one was closed off though. Tons of strobe lights, black lights, and fog machines. Some pretty sick music, and a lot of people dancing around and enjoying the HOT models walking around. We kept drinking and dancing and carrying on until the fashion show started. It was pretty cool and the models rocked the run way! After that we went back to pounding our drinks and dancing some more. The rest of the night was a little hazy, but I'm sure I had a good time. The drinks were a tad over priced after that first hour being hosted. I dropped about 100 bucks on booze but it's all good, I didn't pay to get in and I got some free drinks to kick start my buzz so all in all it was a good time. If clubbing & electronica is your thing, you'll definitely enjoy Spin. read more

The raver lights are awesome. So is the mist machine. Came here to see Mstrkrft for NYE. I was really surprised by the 90% White crowd, but this is San Diego so what did I expect... The show was awesome, and the multiple levels is a definite plus. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the drinks are pricey for what they are - ordered a Cran + Stoli (which is a downgrade from the GG I normally get) and it was $9 and mostly juice! Damn these female bartenders... only the male bartenders give you drinks with 80% alchie. Yes it is pretty much a sausage fest, but what did you expect from a place that plays house music? I'd definitely come here again for a big name next time I'm in SD. read more

2028 Hancock St said closed, so I copied the review over and edited a few parts. First off, this is not a gay bar, it was but not any more, well atleast not on Friday's:) This is by and large a place to go if you are into Electronic music. They have long lines if a big name DJ is playing, Armin for ex., so it is advisable to get the tickets online; beat the line, enjoy the ride. Giant did an amazing job, thanks to them for moving out of Belo, which was their home prior to moving to Spin. the whole place is 3 floors. The 1st floor is where all the action takes place. The 2nd floor has a new room now with its own DJ's, this room caters to the break-dancers and freestyle dancers. Entertaining to watch these folks. It has its own smoking patio. The 3rd floor is the smoking patio overlooking the freeway. It has a bar and couches by the fireplace. They have a taco stand for you hungry dogs. The bartenders are hot and friendly, bouncers surprisingly cool and patrons are a mixed crowd. Form what I heard this place is straight on Friday, goes gay on Saturdays and lesbian on Sundays. Everybody gets a piece of this place. Parking is free and by the street, sometimes they have valet too. Oh yeah, if you stick around late you might get free tix for the next event, sweet! With their roster of DJ's, this is by far the best venue in SD for Electronic music! read more

I'm right down the middle with this place. The venue itself is AMAZING! Three floors of awesomeness. The top floor on the roof so you get fresh air and there is a bar up there so you don't have to go back to the overly loud or crowded ground floor. The music system is epic, a bit loud - but isn't it always? Drinks are a little pricey, but their bar tenders are on top of it! Poor parking, but only on a VERY busy night... Get there early and parking is a breeze! read more
