    The star rating is my averaged rating based on the following factors…read more Cleanliness: Friendliness: Employees were helpful in making sure I knew where everything was and teaching me how to adjust my bike as a first-timer. Atmosphere: It felt very small when I first walked in. I've been to SWET Hot Yoga, and I for some reason expected it to be similar. I attended a Cycle and Strength class, so I think the bikes were close together offer room for the strength portion. It just felt very crowded to me. There were also no lockers like the yoga one, but there were hooks. I felt quite uncomfortable with the music. Nearly every word was an expletive or the n-word. I know it's programmed to the music, but there's plenty of upbeat music that's not so explicit. Overall experience: Personally, I didn't really enjoy it. It was my first spin-type class, and I can't say I'll be doing it again. The bike seats are very uncomfortable. I originally felt like I would be okay slowing down if needed, but then the instructor said that she could see all of our bikes on her iPad, which made me feel like I had to do what everyone else was doing. The strength portion was fine, basically a HIIT workout. My heart rate was in peak the whole hour.

I talked…read morewith management who said they were going to take care of the issue and nothing else happened Decided to call corporate hoping that they may be able to take care of these issues. Went in to work out and had one of the front desk people come up to me mid workout and tell me that my membership has been canceled. I had little and none interaction with this person with the exception of a smug attitude. I would look for a different fitness center because they will promise you anything to get you to sign the paper and then the follow through is nothing The staff used to be good, but they have really gone downhill. Save your money and go somewhere where they actually do care about members and customer service because this is not the place.

Color me gone to a smaller but more user friendly gym where the real perks are being able to work out stress free.

I was a little nervous about trying yoga because I'm a very strong Christian, and yoga tends to be a controversial topic. However, I've never once felt pressured to do something I can't (physically or spiritually) do. It's even been verbally expressed in classes that it's okay to not do things you're uncomfortable with. I appreciate that. The locker room is great. It feels very welcoming. You don't feel like you're going to the gym. The cold towels are always a happy surprise because I forget about them every time. I always feel wonderful after a hot yoga session.

    Facility: I've only used the hot studio, but overall the facility is great. There are days the room…read moreis too hot for me, but nothing above 105°F. This is minor, and rare, but when there are a few guys and we all want to change or shower, there is a wait as the men's changing room is for one person at a time compared to the women's. The mats for purchase are great, but don't forget to bring your own unless you plan on buying a new one (which was $80.. or in that range). I understand not sharing equipment due to Covid, but they should carry a cheaper version in the event you do forget your mat. Instructors: When I first started going, I did a two week pass and went nearly every day to get a feel for the different Vinyasa instructors. I settled on 2 who I think are the best. The others have varied backgrounds, teaching styles, and levels of knowledge. I felt some didn't have the same background as myself, and couldn't really offer anything for me. Some taught the classes more as cardio, and less mind/body connection, which is what I look for. I appreciate a strong balance of breath focus, mental calm, and physical endurance. The two teachers I would recommend for Vinyasa in a heartbeat are Brandy Davis and Tana Aguas. They have great energy, and both appreciate the mindfulness of yoga as a practice, and not just a workout. Brandy is my go-to instructor due to her balance with yoga being in the present moment and also leading a strong vinyasa flow. For the first few weeks I was still acclimating to practicing in a hot room, until I finally got to the point where I would take her flows and push myself harder on additional variations of poses--hand stands, standing splits, toe balances, etc. Brandy would actually sometimes add these to the flow as well. The other great thing is she reads the room and tries for accommodate everyone. Her hot flow class is not for beginners, but all are welcome to attend and take the flows at their own pace. Her flows change with a fair amount of frequency which keeps things exciting for regulars. Tana reminds me of my first yoga instructor I ever had. She is certainly more on the spiritual side of yoga, and her classes tend to have a bit of variety from class to class. She also incorporates more artistic elements such as stylized asanas incorporating mudras. She will also challenge the class with various advanced poses when the class seems accepting of it. If you're looking for a mindful and challenging practice, S.W.E.T is a great facility and both Brandy and Tana are wonderful. I hope when Covid clears that the class sizes stay the same, as the current 12-14 people per class is perfect. I did hear before Covid, the class sizes were larger, so my feedback may be less positive had the classes been more full. As it stands now though, I highly recommend it.

    I'm honestly pretty surprised Balance doesn't have any reviews yet! I bought two weeks' worth of…read moreunlimited classes at Balance with some co-workers of mine. Yesterday evening was our first class and we had a pretty good time, today's slow-burning butt muscle ache aside. First of all, the location is way tricky. Just know that to get there, you need to be heading east on Chestnut and turn into the building's parking lot before the stoplight or you'll have to double back and try again. Trust me on this. Their suite is in the very back of the building, so just park as far south as you can. When you walk into Balance, you're immediately greeted with a caliber of truly inviting swankiness that departs from the cold sterility of other gym settings and is distinctly Moroccan. The brick, concrete and wood beam shell is softened with shining gold sashes and curtains, an almost concerning ton of pillows, paper lamps, and glass vases. It's maybe not the most ideal set-up for sweaty people, but I have to admit, I was digging it. The receptionist was insanely friendly to the point where I instantly remembered her name. Christina, maybe? Yeah! Christina! I rule. She showed us around and introduced us to the filtered water cooler AND the orange-infused water dispenser (both of which we were pleased to meet), not to mention the FREE!!!!! KEURIG!!!!!! COFFEE MAKER!!!!!! á la Studio 417 Salon, and maybe other businesses somewhere. After introductions, my friends and I headed into one of the warm, dark, clean rooms for our first workout, which was comprised of 20-second bursts of almost absurdly effective cardio/strength building moves in sets of 8. After that, we could rest for a minute. It was a pretty ideal workout: challenging but mostly fun, sweaty, and joyously non-competitive. Those types of scenarios can be intimidating for average gals just wanting to tone up (trust me, I've been there before) but even the assertive, mic-bearing leader wasn't aggressive and helped me through the moves I didn't grasp right away. The only thing I really didn't care much for was the Kesha-esque playlist, but I suppose the likes of Kesha must be played for the greater good (the greater good being college ladies, mostly). Four stars because I had a good time, was impressed with the genuine hospitality, and felt it was worth it. One star to grow on.
