On a Friday afternoon, I ordered a Miller Lite bottle. The price was $3. I gave the bartender a $5 bill. No change. I watched her put the $2 in a tip bucket without giving it back. She just assumed that I wanted to give it all to her. When I asked where my change was, she said the beer was $4. That would mean $1 back at least. Yet, no. Shady bartenders. Another example of River North bartending at its best. read more

They don't stay open to the posted hours. We tried to come at 12:30am and the door said open until 2am. We were refused entry. Don't post an hour if you're going to close early on a Friday night. 1/5 stars read more

We had a really fun afternoon at SPiN. Food is great, the staff is friendly, great location, and a lot of fun. I definitely recommend checking it out for any event. read more

Went here for a corporate party. The staff, bartenders, and waiters were all very friendly. I didn't actually play pingpong but they had many tables available. The staff also collect the runaway pong balls and for some reason, found the little net they use amusing lol. read more

Unfortunately too social n not serious enough. Emphasizes food and drink sales over everything else. Disregards the players

Would say it's worth the trip however there website stated they are open till at least 2am but when we arrived they were closed. And on top of that people asked how we got in cause their doors were not even closed/locked. read more

Great place awesome environment ant large space. Food was good and the drinks were nicely poured. Team building event was fun and well put on by Spin. read more

Came here for an office event. We had booked about 10 tables if I remember correctly. I had a lot of fun here. The food we ordered was good. The service was great too. Nice variety of food and drinks, the bar's nice too. You don't need to know table tennis to come here, come play, eat, drink and have fun. One thing though is that this place is pricey. Price was not in question for me coz it was through work but otherwise. Overall, nice experience, enjoyed, might come back!! read more

We had a great event at SPiN. The staff and environment were so much fun! We are coming back for sure. The space is really cool and it is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. It was a cool vibe, good drinks, the Ping-Pong was fun and it is a perfect place to have a corporate event or hang with a large group. read more

This place has terrible service. To be honest, I would not recommend this place for anyone looking to have fun and be treated with respect. Last night a few of my friends got kicked out of this place (first time I ever was kicked out mind you) because this establishment places food next to the bar and anyone who takes food is kicked out. Why place food next to a bar and expect no one to take some? Mismanaged.... what's next? Kicked out for taking the pretzels/peanuts at the bar? Or for sipping water from the water fountain? read more

Just came in to Chicago to celebrate New Years Eve at SPiN. WOW! what a great time. Of course they were super busy with the holiday crowd but the staff was very pleasant. Food was great! Entertainment was fun! There was even an Aerial Dancer along with the DJ. It's a must see even if you are not a ping pong player. read more

Delicious food, great bartender (Tim, shout out to jersey), great environment. Definitely worth it especially during off-peak hours and for the power lunch! Wish there was one in philly and that Susan Sarandon greeted us at the door. read more

I was thrilled when I walked in. A great food and beverage selection, netted tables everywhere, balls for days. My fiance and I settled into our section of the basement reserved for a fundraiser event we were attending. We started off playing one another, and I moved on to play a few rounds against friends. The tables and paddles were in great shape, and the layout gives you plenty of space to play. Servers were very friendly and the passed apps were pretty tasty, though the sliders could use a little more flavor. This place would likely have been a solid 4-star if it hadn't been for the last 20 minutes we spent there. The time slot for our fundraiser had just expired, and we had bought another round of drinks on our own tab. My friend and I were finishing one last game and I was two points from victory when the staff came and shut us down. I don't mean they asked us to wrap it up, I mean they took our paddles, right then and there, and slapped a reserved sign on the table. To the management, do yourselves the service of training lower level staff about customer service. After our organization had just dumped thousands of dollars on a Tuesday night event, these fine employees couldn't grant us 30 more seconds to finish our match. Their irresponsibility wielding what little authority they were given was enough to aggravate the party I was with, and convince me that my money would be better spent elsewhere. As we finished our drinks over the next 20 minutes, we sat in a sea of empty ping pong tables, each with its own reserved placard, without a player in sight read more

Folks - I am telling you, the humans who work in this place are THE BEST! I spent some time here this past weekend for my low key bachelorette party with my 4 girlfriends and we could not believe how great of an experience we had. The ping pong is insanely fun, the food is DELISH, the atmosphere is super fun, but the part that really made our night was the staff. It all started with our LOVELY server who could not have been more attentive and kind - Sam. She even took a pic with us before the end of the night! Then Gavin - The busser - who played along in our obnoxious bachelorette games. We were looking for a man who went by the name of Ryan (my fiance's name) and Gaven toured the entire bar for us asking every man in the place for his name! ha. Then we get to meet the most DELIGHTFUL bartender on earth, whose name was RYAN (goes by Tang I believe). Tang took the CUTEST photo with me and made us the tastiest drinks I have EVER had in my life. He kept the bourbon and ginger flowing and whatever that fruity coconut shot was - it was LIFE. Then we were rescued by Journey - the most tactful and kind bouncer I have ever met. These two guys stumbled into our party and tried hitting on a few of my friends (all married). The one guy spilled a drink in my lap and was completely un-phased. Journey same this and first asked me if we wanted him to intervene - I asked him to let me see what my badass friends could figure out first and did end up having him help us out. He came over and politely asked the men to move on to their next destination - Journey was extremely tactful and the guys left without too much fuss. Finally the DJ - DJ TJ - played the most amazing soundtrack to our night and then on our way out suggested 2-3 dance bars where we could dance the night away. We hit up 2 of those bars and had the MOST WONDERFUL TIME. It was like he knew exactly what music we were looking for. Overall - my bachelorette weekend was made thanks to these folks. SO THANK YOU! And everyone go here for a GREAT time. :) read more

Would have spent a good 3 hours here, but we asked the waiter to change the football game on the TV. He asked the Manager and the Manager decided since we asked, the entire bar deserves no TVs and they took away all of the TVs for the rest of the night. We were confused, and the waiter said the Manager doesn't want people asking, so he turns them all off. Never been punished at a restaurant before where you would expect good service. We felt like kindergartners sitting in the corner being punished as we finished our drinks. It was my wife's birthday and this started it off in a low note. Also CRAZY overpriced for the drinks. read more

This place is great. We stopped by SPiN on my 25th birthday, and was here with family on vacation. I wish we had one of these back in New Orleans. I grew up playing ping pong, I can honestly say I started playing the moment I was conceived, but I only mention that to get across that I really enjoy playing ping pong. My personal thoughts on the sport aside, it was super cool seeing ping pong as the backbone of SPiN's business. It's modern, hip, and really fun. Not to mention, the staff is very friendly and the bartender aided in the process of my inebriation. Lol, definitely swinging by this place on every Chicago trip. Ping pong paired with tons of booze is a great time. I just wish this place opened later, we would have been there all night. read more

Excellent vibe. I thought it was kinda weird and for nerds that are into pong-pong, but they actually cater to a diverse crowd. Excellent food menu, and an excellent drink menu that was revamped by Tim the bartender. Would definitely come back. Great for corporate events! read more

I love coming to this place! Good food, music, and drinks! Tim and Emmentt are AWESOME at the bar! Great service! Clean! It's fun and super chill! It's a little expensive but it's a good time. read more

Amazing place! Tim the bartender is the best with signature, creative cocktails! Two levels of great music, ping pong and amazing drinks!

Wow horrible experience and probably wouldn't go back nor recommend. I had been to Spin NY plenty of times and enjoy it so while visiting Chicago I was excited to see there was one in town as well. Was very disappointed with how it was run and managed. My schedule allowed me to have an opening on a Monday Night and saw the place closed at midnight so I rushed my dinner and I ubered across town with a friend to at least get 30min/1hr of play, only to get rejected. We walked in and saw players playing and went to bar to play, since there was no one at host desk, and get a drink. They said it was already last call and my watch said 11:10pm. We then asked the bartender about booking a table to play on and he said he didn't know anything about how to play only that they were doing last call and they close at 11:45pm.... seriously . We then went to the host who was just standing around who said we couldn't play because there were no open tables. I don't understand this because all of tables were vacant on the lower level floors, yet they chose to only have 2 tables open up stairs to use. Which makes no sense since there were promoting a Monday night drink and play special. They were many people standing around since they were only allowing 2 tables to be used. We asked about the vacant table outside, roofed in and he said no cant play due to "City Ordinance "??? They had poor customer services skills and just apologized rather than helping us out. He just apologized and said nothing about the fact that 2 tables out of many were being used almost an hr before closing . Plenty of people just sitting around because they choos to only use 2 tables. We walked away wasted an uber right and rushing through dinner for nothing. All they said was sorry and turned there backs. They should put closed at 11pm instead of midnight if you can't play ping pong at 11:10 when we were there. Really the attitude and demeanor of the employees was that they just really don't want to be there and trying to close up as early as possible. Would not recommend. Would not come back ! Worst was to start at a place I was looking forward to attend on my birthday only to be turned away. read more

Pretty cool place. A little pricey to play if you are only there with 2 people. The cocktails I had were good but a little expensive, which is expected for the area, and in line with other bars there. The sliders I had were great. Would be a good place to just come hang out if you didn't want to play, but is best with a larger group. read more

Great staff and spacious. Reasonable price which includes paddles and infinite balls.

So much fun!! We could spend hours here, so glad you have to make reservations for an hour at a time...need to cut us off lol. Drinks and food were great. read more

Good vibes only!!! Me and my husband went to SPiN for a date night and I love the vibes! The music was great it was a mixture of everything you can dance to. I had an order of buffalo wings they were amazing and the staff was live, easy to talk to it felt like we where all hanging out. Ping pong is not my sport but it was fun trying and watching the experts next to us. If you have a competitive spirit, want to hang out and socialize, or just chill and vibe out SPiN is the place to be and I will definitely recommend SPiN to my friends and family. read more

I was beyond excited to go to a ping pong bar as I love playing ping pong! My group had two reservations one hour apart as everything else looked booked on their website. After our first 30 min we got asked to leave the table area even though no one else was coming to play there. We had to move to the bar area to wait for our next reservation and not allowed to play even though our first table and the table next to it were empty for another half hour. Overall the place has a great vibe and it's definitely more fancy looking than expected, I do think however that it's pretty pricey to play, $30 for 30 min seems like a lot, especially at times when they have empty tables. read more

Our company holiday party was at Spin this past Sunday. I have to say whomever came up with this concept is a mad genius! The concept of being able to have food and drinks while playing ping pong is the greatest! The decor was phenomenal and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Even as we were leaving we were thanked and they even said see you next time. I would highly recommend getting a group of friends together and checking this place out. You'll be glad you did. read more

First off...Tim's cocktails trump all. The pong and art is pretty stick too. Again... ask Tim to make you one of his drinks.

So much fun! I wasn't really sure what to expect when I went to SPiN, but I had a lot more fun than I anticipated. My friends and I reserved a ping pong table and requested the one outside. It took about 45 mins to get a table since it was a busy weekend night. Half of the group played ping pong while the other half enjoyed a friendly game of Jenga with giant blocks. Our tower was getting so high, people on the street started watching the game. We were told the patio closes at 11pm so we continued playing ping pong inside. I walked around and explored the space. There are plenty of ping pong tables downstairs. The space is beautifully decorated. I especially liked the tub full of ping pong balls. I also enjoyed the music that night - a good mix of 90's songs. The only downside was that it can get expensive to play ping pong. I definitely recommend going in a group. All in all, I had a fun experience! read more

Great space for the late 20's early 30 crowd. The design of the space is awesome with lots of space. People are not standing on top of each other or waiting in long lines for drinks. Servers are nice, game playing on big screen. I'll definitely be back. read more

Had a great time, friendly staff and dominated giant Jenga! Welcome addition to river north

So glad Chicago has a ping-pong place. The staff are onsite making sure everything is running well. It can be a little pricey for two people, but if you come in a group the price is quite ok. SPiN is an awesome alternative hangout at River North. I had a great time. read more

This is a fun place to bring friends for a night in the city. They have a great staff they frequent your tables enough when you play and are fun to talk with. I'm looking forward to being my friends when they visit for my birthday weekend. read more

Expensive and boring.....the place was almost completely empty when we went. In spite of there being more employees than customers, the service was slow. We would recommend NOT paying for reservations in spite of the warnings on the website that you might have to wait for a table. We paid the extra $ for reservations. If we hadn't, we would have just left when we got there and saw the emptiness, which would have been no loss. But they have a strict no-refund policy, so we were out $120 even though there was clearly no need to have reserved a table since only one other table in the entire place was being used. Tried to make the best of it, but the music was blasting so loud into the empty space, it was impossible to even talk to each other while playing. We left after less than an hour, out almost $200 after paying for a few drinks on top of the reservation fee. No plans to return. The city's full of fun things to do at much more reasonable prices. read more

Highly recommend SPiN either for a competitive round of ping pong or just to sit back and have a cocktail or two. An awesome vibe with an amazing staff, both knowledgeable and welcoming. If you sit at the bar, ask for Tim; he knows how to make a great cocktail and if you grab a seat in one of the many lounge chairs ask for Kaden! read more
