When we went, the service left a lot to be desired. A man with earbuds in was behind the counter and never looked up to acknowledge us. Another man looked and disappeared. A woman called us to the other end of the counter and took our order...finally. Our drinks were mediocre and overpriced - plus my husband's hot latte was served iced. It wasn't even busy! Although it's a cavernous space, one man decided it was his office and was making a lot of sales calls, so we were treated to hearing that unless we moved to the back side of the business. Next time, we'll save a few bucks (and our sanity) and go to Starbucks across the street! We like to support local businesses, but this was abominable. read more

I come here when visiting for work sometimes. And it always feels kind of 'sloppy' but this time I stood at the counter, where five employees were behind the counter, and the one who apparently was supposed to be working the register was standing playing on her phone so intently I had to get her attention twice before she looked up. Then I sat down to do some work, one of the staff was talking so loudly and complaining about work and cursing etc... that I had to finally just get up and leave. His voice was so loud, shrill and inappropriately loud for an employee that it was hard to concentrate . He was so loud over the rest of the staff that customers around be were putting in their earphones to drown him out. Didn't seem to be a manger on site unless that was the person in charge, which would explain the lazy, uninspired vibe of the staff. At least the coffee was hot. read more

Spill the beans has an excellent coffee BUT for unknown reasons the place looks abandoned and in distress. Because it has the BEST location in Greenville SC ( probably in the world) it pains me to see a place not get better for years. As a business person I would divide the huge place in two. So it could be easier for the owner to put some TLC in it place. I hope when I go back to Greenville SC and anyone that decides to visit this paradise be positively surprised with improvements . read more

Set in downtown, Greenville, right by Liberty park, STB is absolutely charming in decor & coffee shop vibe with various big comfy couches, coffee tables, unique art on the walls, lovely brick and stone walls. Ambiance is 10/10 and the place is way bigger than I thought based off the storefront. Was greeted warmly & good explanation of the signature drinks. Mama Mia amore was decent, but latte art can use a bit more refining. I ended up ordering the maffioso to go as well to get through the last day of my work trip ‍ Pastry (bagel) was also okay, nothing too special. The most hilarious thing happened to my coworker though. We all requested oat milk substitutes in our coffees, but he got a coffee with oatmeal instead, which was super dry. We will be laughing at him for a while read more

Spill the Beans is a coffee and ice cream shop located in very prime real estate in downtown Greenville just steps from Liberty Bridge and Falls Park on the Reedy. The interiors are spacious with nice brick walls, nice artwork, and plenty of seating. Unlike most cafes, they are open until very late, as I'm sure they have a steady flow of customers visiting the falls nearby. Since I arrived late in the day and wasn't in need of caffeine, I opted to try their ice cream. They offer vanilla and chocolate ice cream, and have a lot of mix-ins to add into the ice cream. I opted for the vanilla ice cream with the Oreo mix-in. While the base vanilla ice cream was from a creamery, I felt it didn't really have a rich creamy texture, and was fairly ordinary in taste. Overall, I felt it was an average ice cream experience, and felt I would have been better off going to an ice cream place that didn't mix in ingredients to alter the flavor. While I probably wouldn't return to Spill the Beans for the ice cream, I would stop by for their coffee drinks if in the area again. read more

In the past, I was a regular customer at Spill the Beans. I also would occasionally bring my coffee meetup group (about 15-20 would be in our group) to the cafe. It is a lovely location, a nice cafe, and serves good coffee. However, too often, the experience is significantly degraded by loud, infuriating leaf blowers just outside the cafe. This extreme noise pollution means that the cafe is losing customers. For example, I and my group will no longer patronize the cafe due to this problem. The cafe needs to let the City of Greenville know that the leaf blowing by the City at Falls Park is harming business near the park (not to mention those trying to use and enjoy the park), and the blowing needs to be ended. Over 240 cities (and growing) in the US have prohibited leaf blowers. Greenville needs to add itself to that list. What ever happened to rakes and brooms? read more

The people working there were nice, I had some delicious ice cream, and they loved our cat.

I stopped by a few days ago while passing through downtown Greenville and had a great experience. I was greeted right away by Emme, a blonde barista who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. She had such a positive attitude and made me feel right at home. The coffee was excellent, and the common area had a relaxing atmosphere that made it a perfect place to get some work done. read more

Had to repeat multiple times the order to the young lady at the counter. They were out of the berry muffin and I settled for a apple muffin, which was extremely underwhelming. No flavor. My wife had a bagel that was average. Coffee was OK. The counter we sat it was not clean. I felt like we were eating off of the floor of a movie theater. There is better coffee and cleaner environments in the Greenville area. I would not recommend this. read more

Getting some ice cream, great location, cute shop. The line was getting backed up and they opened another register. I decided I wanted another add in after my original order and that wasn't any problem. Our ice creams were delivered quickly. It's just not my preferred style of ice cream. It's like soft serve and the thing they use to smash up the mix-ins make them very small. The rest of the fam loved it. read more

I came to this place to get a cone of ice cream I'm the only one at the counter 2 young people working behind the counter. A boy and girl they looked at me and when a white man walked up the girl took his order. Then when I addressed the issue she said nothing but oh. I walked out then I went back in and asked the boy for a manager he said no manager is here I told him what has happened all he said was oh sorry and turned his back. This place is so racist now it never was like this. I will never go back again and I will always give them a bad name this place is not fo black people it's so said how people are we all bleed the same color RED. I hate this place now.. read more

This place was ok. I was super excited to try it and it didn't live up to the hype. Service was lacking (there were multiple workers at the counter who didn't even acknowledge us for at least 5 minutes) and the barista from the side had to finally walk over and take my order. Seemed strange and not welcoming. The place itself is nice and expansive, great ambience for hanging out/meeting up with friends or even getting some work done. Coffee was ok, but a bit overpriced in my opinion, especially considering the poor customer service. I would pass on this and visit other spots nearby with better service. Only advantage is the location: right on the falls on the reedy trail, which makes it a convenient stop prior to walking the trail. read more

The line here is always out the door!! That's when you know it's good! The staff does a great job of keeping the line moving at a steady pace even though each order is freshly made. The staff are friendly and hard working. This ice cream shop is in a great location, right at the top of the stairs leading down to falls park/the bridge, on Main Street! The ice cream and coffee is 10/10, hard to best! The building is unique and spacious. You can take your order to go on a walk in the park for the best vibes! We came here recently during a trip to Greenville and love the atmosphere. We walked around downtown and needed a caffeine boost. STB delivered! It's right beside the main park downtown and it's in a huge historic building. It was so hot outside but nice and cool in the dark brick and stone interior. The staff made sure I had a full water bottle too. We both got iced coffee and they were not too sweet. Just right! This is a nice coffee shop downtown Greenville so correspondingly ice cream prices are sky high! I went in originally to get a custom frozen yogurt but was shocked at what I witnessed. First of all, the woman making the ice cream/yogurt was wearing her glove on the handle that worked the machine, but no glove on the hand touching the cones. Although the small cake coke has a small wrapper, much of the cone is exposed, so she and the red-headed associate she handed the cone to were touching the cone. Not to mention he was also working the register and had no gloves on. Then came the waffle cone...... which had an even smaller wrapper on it. So, their hands were touching even more of the cone. Keep in mind she was wearing the glove on the hand that didn't actually handle the one and he was working the register and handling the food without any gloves. I then asked another associate if I could just buy some of the sugar free Irish cream coffee syrup. And he asked "For What Purpose"? What business of it was his? But I said for my coffee at the hotel. He said very passively, "well i guess I could figure out a price for it." My reply..."Or you could just give it to me," kind of joking. He said "I can't give anything away. It's like 57 cents a shot." I said never mind. I walked out and told my husband and he said "once you saw the glove situation you still asked for something?" I just figured there was no way the guy could get his DNA on a side of syrup. I wish I said I was an undercover health department agent. SO GROSS!!!!!! It's Food service - Terrible!!!!!!!!! I would urge anyone to go across the street to Starbucks. I know it's not supporting local, but they typically know food service hygiene. read more

Coffee was alright, they were closing pretty early everyday we were there which was a bummer. The baristas were nice but the line would move very slow and when/if there was a line it would take a while for it to move much. They have plenty of space, I'm not sure if it's a very noisy cafe but nothing some headphone probably couldn't solve. read more

Quaint coffee shop with LOTS of seating. If you are here before 3pm you'll find a space to sit, easily. If you come after 3pm expect MASSIVE lines and not as much seating. Great space to work in the mornings though. And prior to 3pm, parking isn't hard to find on main street outside. If you're a Mexican hot chocolate fan or chai tea latte fan, they have great baristas! The owners are here 85% of the time as well, so you know they put their heart and soul into the business. Music is quiet and pleasant, though if you're unlucky enough to be here when a family with kids shows up, the echoes and acoustics can make it very hard to concentrate. I like that they have basic food options (oatmeal, bagels, muffins) as well! Pretty much something for everyone. Everything about this place is minimalist and cozy, a combination I didn't know could work so well together! We got here around 12:15 on a Friday afternoon and there were a handful of people hanging out with their laptops and sipping coffee. If you're looking for sweet location next to falls park with great vibes so you can hang out for awhile, spill the beans is for you. Lots of comfy seating inside and a patio outside. With the pleasant aroma coffee and waffle cones and the oldies playing over head, I felt like I could stay all day. If you're looking for high quality coffee/espresso, Spill the Beans is fine but not fantastic. The milk on my latte was over foamed and bubbly so the texture wasn't quite right. It was also served in a cardboard cub so there was a certain element of refinement missing in the experience. In summary, grade vibes, mediocre latte. I can't speak to the ice cream but the homemade waffle cones were tempting me the whole time I was there. read more

*cross posted on Google I really wanted to make this one of my go-to local coffee shops. But after 4 visits over 8 months, I'm disappointed with the primary product.. the coffee. Most of their brewed coffee is very weak. I have had their espresso and that is a little better. They do have an assortment of ice creams that I've tried in the past. They are good. But this review is on the coffee shop element. The pros: cool atmosphere with a great vibe. Sit inside on an assortment of couches or chairs and tables or sit outside on the patio and enjoy people watching at the corner of main street. But the coffee....eh. The tagline on their website should have given me a heads up. "We serve deliciously smooth coffee gourmet ice cream. Daily." Since I am local and visit all the coffee shops, I'm willing to give them another try, but it'll be a while. read more
