Collards, red beans and rice, sweet potato fries, and okra
    Gino W.

Having passed by this restaurant a few times, I was interested in what was on their menu. Vegan food at restaurants is usually bland, so my visit was a gamble. I opted for their vegan sampler, which comes as four of their vegan sides. I ordered collards, red beans and rice, sweet potato fries, and fried okra. I give them high marks for all of the sides I had. The restaurant is small on the inside. You order at the plexiglass and receive your food through a protective cabinet. There are other offerings I would have to try before I can score higher. Nevertheless, I was happy with my first visit.

    Cobbler

Ordered the salmon croquettes over rice with fried green tomatoes and beans/rice. Soulrolls And peach Cobbler The main reason for the 2 stars -- the rice was gummy and not edible. Tomatoes were greasy/soggy. Cobbler was not edible. Over cooked maybe but gummy. I did leave a tip and I'm rooting for the business to make improvements in the meal prep.

    Lamb chop dinner

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The lamb chops were absolutely delicious seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. The sides were generous, and you definitely get more than what you pay for, which is rare these days. Unlike other spots with skimpy portions, this place really delivers. The service was fast, and there was barely any wait time. I can't wait to come back again soon!

Any time I am in a neighborhood and have an appetite for something, I tend to look for a nearby…read morespot. Kimmy's Soul Food was my choice as of late. I ordered a platter of barbecue fried chicken with mustard potato salad, pinto beans, and a cornbread muffin. The chicken was no joke. It wasn't undercooked and it wasn't dry. I have had smothered fried chicken, but barbecue fried chicken was new to me and I liked it. They get high marks for good mustard potato salad. They didn't have baked beans, but cooked the pinto beans such that it had a nice gravy. No sugar was added to emulate baked beans, just good flavor without the fuss. Second platter that I ordered was spicy barbecue fried chicken, spaghetti, greens, and another cornbread muffin. Loved the kick to the spicy barbecue chicken. I appreciate the spaghetti not being sweet. There was enough bitter to the greens that I wonder if they were picked fresh. You can tell when someone does too much to canned greens to mask the fact that they're canned. I didn't get that impression with these greens. As to the cornbread muffin, it is more dessert than savory. Beware if you are a cornbread snob. Kimmy's is not a sit-down type of restaurant. You order for takeaway. What I ordered had sit-down flavor, for sure. I don't live too far away that I can't pull up. I can't say that I will chance placing an order for delivery. It takes time for orders to be completed because everything is cooked to order. Either way, they will get my dollars.

Ok Ms. Kimmy! I just moved here from California and this is now my spot for food going forward…read more The sweet potatoes and stuffing were delicious. The greens were good too but a little cold. I ordered here from DoorDash. fried chicken was tender but needed a little more seasoning so I just added some lemon pepper sprinkle. My son had a cheddar burger and fries which was kid approved. Will definitely order again.
