The food and service were great. We had butter chicken and lamb chops. The lamb chops were the best I've ever had! Highly recommend.

We knew it was late in the morning so obviously they wouldn't have everything. The woman in the front was super sweet, and there was a man in the front to who was helpful. Our one star comes from an extremely rude man in the back. My 3 year old son has CP and can't control some of his repetitive motor functions. He was hitting the glass pastry case (not hard - he's 3) and the guy in the back yelled "who's doing that!?" I apologized and pulled my son away and he goes "I just wiped it down!" I highly doubt we were the only people to do that ever if he's had to wipe it down multiple times today. And sure, it's annoying. Which is why I apologized. But it was the tone and the complete lack of any sort of tact or customer service that shocked us. When my husband went back in to explain he was even more rude and basically told us to control our kid. If he was running around breaking things in the entire store - absolutely. This attitude would have been warranted. But he put his hands on a pastry case for f's sake. Calm down. Whoever said Rockport is kid friendly...lied. And this place is living proof. So make sure if you have kids to tell them not to touch ANYTHING here. Or better yet keep them in the car. Wouldn't want to upset the troll in the back.

And outside the windows just traffic going by. Although they had some cool plants by the sidewalk. There was plenty of empty tables for us to be seated on that side so don't know why they put us in the sports bar. Big TVs had nothing but a sports commentary showing two guys but no sound and after that, the resting screen was showing for a long time. Reggae music playing. I ordered cashew chicken and my husband got orange chicken. Everything on both plates was from the same orange/yellowish color family, no green veggies at all. The crispies were good; ate all of those. Fried Rice was also orangey and needed to be cooked longer. I like bamboo shoots as much as the next person, but not a whole can on my plate. Too many water chestnuts also, but the amount of carrots was great. Usually there's never enough carrots for me. Egg drop soup: was trying to figure out what it tastes like since I've never actually had it before. Chicken broth. It tastes like chicken broth. Just with egg floating in it and the occasional carrot or pea, but it was good since the plates took a while to come out. There's a sign posted that says: We are not a fast food place. Note: Don't ask to sub wonton soup on your entree cause "that's a separate item". Waiter seemed annoyed to be asked that question because it clearly isn't a choice offered with the entree on the menu; only egg drop soup or hot and sour soup. I'm sure he gets asked that a lot. Doesn't seem to me to be too much to ask since they obviously have it. ‍

There wasn't a single vegan‑friendly option--no balsamic, no simple oil‑and‑vinegar--so that part definitely missed the mark. They also charge full price for the all‑you‑can‑eat salad bar even if you only want one plate. I thought that was a bit silly, but rules are rules. I also tried their blue mimosa, which was new on the menu. It didn't taste any different from a regular mimosa, so I'm pretty sure it was just champagne with blue curaçao for color. Fun to look at, but nothing special flavor‑wise. On the positive side, everyone in my group who ordered seafood was thrilled. My friend's coconut shrimp was cooked perfectly--crispy, not greasy, and with just the right amount of coconut so it wasn't overwhelming. Several people at our table ordered the crab cakes, and they all raved about how good they were. Overall, the seafood seems to be the star here, but the salad bar and drink execution could use some attention.

Until a few years ago, entrees came with your choice of soup or salad bar. Now, you must chose between soup and gumbo and if you want a salad bar, it will cost you an addition $5.99. I would be surprised if the salad bar plate is larger than 5" in diameter. The salad bar was one of the main attractions. Tonight, the dressing was warm, the croutons were stale, and salad-bar staples like boiled egg and cheese are now noticeably absent. Garnish on my fried shrimp plate was a laughable sliver of wilted green-leaf lettuce and a lime wedge so small it only lasted for 2 shrimp. I looked through the reviews to see if I was the only regular who felt this way; unfortunately, I am not.
