Used to love this place. Had a take out order, when I got there to pick it up at the specified time, I was told that the order was late getting sent to the kitchen and would be another 20minutes. I asked if it could be prioritized and they said no, they don't do that. When I expressed frustration, I was told that they were busy in the dining room and they will tend to their in store clients before take out always and if I didn't want to wait I could just leave. The manager was extremely rude and unapologetic about their mistake. I understand mistakes happen, but no sense of ownership or wanting to rectify the issue with a regular customer is disappointing. Ah well, I've always heard Manvirro's was better anyway. Won't be returning here again. read more

This was our first visit to the Spice Hut in Comox, overall it was not what we were hoping for. It started well, reservations were courteous and upon arrival we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The young lady who served us is in need of customer service training or refresher training, regrettably her dour demeanor definitely detracted from our dining experience that evening. Drinks were ordered, my wife received hers but mine never arrived and after numerous attempts to catch her attention I had to remind her that I had not received my beverage. When it finally arrived, no apology, drink on the table, turn away and gone like the wind, (the restaurant was not busy). The food was served quickly, it was hot and very tasty. Portion sizes were quite large, with enough left over for a lunch. Although, I finished my meal well before my wife, my dessert was served to me and it sat on the sidelines. I waited for my wife to finish her meal, and the waitress cleared her dishes without asking if she wanted dessert. My wife had to tell her that she would like to have a dessert and the waitress asked her what she wanted. My wife had to ask her to bring her a menu in order to see what was available. She then made her selection and wanted a refill of Chai-tea. The dessert arrived and then we both ate our desserts, unfortunately the chai- tea never arrived, but the bill did. Overall, were it not for the poor service I'd give a higher rating as the food was excellent and the price point was fine. read more

Great food. This place is usually packed but thankfully you can get takeout which a lot of people were getting. The manager of this place is absolutely amazing. Knows her customer service-very efficient and friendly. Makes you feel like you have come to her house for supper. Would very much recommend this place. read more

I've been before and it wasn't bad but this time around my friend and I came in for a bite to eat. We were greeted by our server and she seemed very unprofessional and didn't really greet us. Then what I assume was the manager was on the phone for half our dining experience yelling and cursing to the person on the other line. The food wasn't bad but a bit over priced as most dishes are $15 and served without the rice, (the rice being an additional $3) We weren't checked back with until the server finally noticed we had finished and it wasn't busy at all, just us and one other table. I would try finding other Indian places to eat. Overall wasn't the experience I hoped for. read more

I just had the worst shrimp curry this evening. The shrimp was drained of its taste by being overly cooked and the sauce was sour and bland. My partner ordered the vegetable korma and all she got were lots of potatoes, few cauliflower with a sprinkling of peas. Needless to say, she was not pleased with her order either. The server did give me a discount for my order but really not enough for an unsatisfying experience of dining out. My partner was promised an order of free vegetable for next visit. I had good experience before with my orders but somehow this time they sure blow it. Simply outstanding! Possibly the best Indian food ever and I live near Redmond, WA which is Indian food central for Washington State. I love Indian food so I admit that I am easy to please but this food really stands out. I love that I can vacation in Comox and have a favorite place where I can sit outside with my dog and have a delicious meal. I enjoyed two meals at Spice Hut during my quick stay in Comox. My boyfriend (who used to live in India) and I had lunch at The Spice Hut in Comox today and we both agreed it was the best Indian food we've ever had. I have a potato allergy and the entire staff was extremely accommodating and understanding. The waitress (patient and friendly) spent about 15 minutes with us as we asked questions about the menu, the heat level and ingredients. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. Although we ordered way too much, we ate it all. Highly recommend. We'll be looking for any excuse to go back. read more

This was one of my worst experiences in a restaurant to date. I ordered something and it turned out not to be to my liking so I sent it back and ordered something else. The kitchen is open to the restaurant and the 'chef' was yelling at our poor waitress, it was very awkward. I recieved my new order and I was in viewing distance of the kitchen. The chef stood and glared at me the whole time I had the meal in front of me, at one point the other fellow in the kitchen was also there, both of them glaring then laughing at me. I had a few bites and could not finish, I wondered if he had done domething to my meal. It was an aweful experience and I could not get out of there fast enough. I don't care if the food is good or not, I will never go back. We appologized to our young female waitress and she looked quite upset, I hope she isn't working there anymore. Can I give 0 stars?
