ordered Chinese food online for sun. order went through on charge card. went to pickup order but they are closed. phoned web site says they are open on sun. phoned next day to get charge reversed. never talked to such a rude person in my life.said she was busy with other customers. never apologized. I wanted an explanation for allowing an order to be completed but not being open. phone connection lost I think she hung up on me. Odd choice given he was the only one in a city of 80,000 making banh mi, maybe he had supply issues. Who knows. Went to Bamboo for dinner. The food was really good... Chow main was excellent... However the server was not friendly, and she only came to take our order... Which she did as we were still looking at the menu ... She didn't offer a drink ... Dropped off food without making sure we had what we needed... Had to ask for chop sticks... We sat at the table for a long time with our dinner finished and had to ask for a takeout box.... The guy who brought it. Had his hands on the inside of container... They did not check vaccine cards and told customers so as we left... Now I do understand about covid and the shortages of workers... But the restaurant was almost empty. They were more concerned with cleaning empty tables and sweeping the floor during dinner hour than the customers... I will not return... Too bad as I like the food. We came for lunch and the food and service was excellent! We are from the Vancouver area but found the portions to be ample, subtle flavours and fresh. Very fresh tasting. We had the ginger chicken hot pot and shared a combo dish. All cooked delicately and delish. read more

This place was local to me and I used it a few times and every time asked myself why? For some reason all the Chinese restaurants this part of the world are rank - perhaps the locals aren't up to scratch and what's acceptable or not. This place is no exception. Noodles that have the consistency of shaved plastic, chicken wings that would bounce if they fell on the floor and Chow Mein that looks and tastes like it was swept off the floor in a grocers and smothered in glutton. All of which waving a glorious flag to a common denominator - none of it had any flavor. Nothing. Atrocious food. A pointless dining experience. read more

While the food is pretty good. Save your money and skip the buffet. It's so poorly stocked even at supper time you'd be lucky if you can serve 4 people before its empty. They keep the buffet items low stocked so there is never anything to take. If they bring 2-3 cups of something you'd be lucky. Management doesn't care if you complain. It was like this with the old owners as well. When a person is paying $16+ don't be getting cheap. Plenty of other places a person can eat at and not be waiting for them to bring out something anything! Well as an update May 27/2016 Buffet is still poorly filled. Literally everything was empty or a spoon full of this and that. They come out a check what's empty which is pretty much everything and maybe 10 min later came out with 2 spring rolls and maybe a cup of ginger beef. Meanwhile 80% of the buffet is empty. I had to laugh when the staff is mixing near empty items in the warmers. I don't get it with this place. Either FILL the pans in the warmer FULL or don't bother. Rice and noodles isn't buffet! A person feels bad and don't take enough to possibly leave a spoon or two for the next sucker that ordered buffet.. I will not being going back here every again. Apparently to save money they keep buffet stocked to the bare minimum, and take forever to restock it with barely anything when they do. Goto the driftwood toward Campbell River if you want to see how a real buffet operates. It's like a 3rd world country begging for them to bring something anything.. I'm not the first not the last person that complained about the always empty warmers. Management obviously couldn't care less. Point being 80% or more is empty or a spoon or two left. We ordered delivery from these guys on a recommendation. After a phone call that could be a textbook definition of "communication barrier", we learned that the delivery fee was $8. Ok, fine. We're in Cumberland. It's a bit out of the way. So we wait. And wait. And wait. And then we realize we missed a call. So we call it back. And as it turns out, the delivery person drove to the house, wasn't sure of the address (which makes zero sense as it's right there on the garage), so he left. You read that correctly. He showed up after driving out of his way, looked at the house, and turned around and left. Luckily, we caught the missed call before he got too far away. So he turned around and came back. But we waited outside for him. You know, just in case. We go to pay him. Cash of course--because in 2018, why would a business that delivers (for $8--remember that) ever be expected to offer card payment options? So we pay him in cash and give him a $2 tip. That is far below what we'd normally tip. But, we didn't have any more cash on hand. So we did what we could. The driver was unsatisfied. He insisted that we find more cash for a tip or he was going to leave with the food. I wish I was lying. But this happened. He threatened to not sell us the $50 worth of now-cold takeout he drove all this way to deliver, for $8, if we didn't provide him with a better tip. I went into our bedroom to find a change jar that was packed in a box (we JUST moved) and dug out another $2 for him. In the end, the food was ok. Absolutely nothing special. Definitely not worth the price PLUS the $8 delivery PLUS the tip. But lesson learned. Hopefully, you won't have to learn that lesson too. There are far better options in this area that don't have pushy delivery people working for them. read more

Great Chinese food, good selection. Both the menu and buffet are good. Owner, waiter, waitresses all pleasant. Price is good for amount of food on plate. Easy parking, nice view. It is Chinese New Year, special dishes, entrees and dessert. Waitress dressed in festive dress, lots of food, tea, everything hot, left table fuller than I should have. read more

I was hosting an event for 60 people, so I ordered 5 x dinner for 10 + dishes for vegetarians. They gave me so much food, chinese candies, & fortune cookies, plus 10% discount! They whip it all up in 40 minutes and loaded my car. The food was amazing; sweet & sour pork and ginger beef were dusted in cornstarch and tossed in sauce...not drowning like other restaurants. Fried rice was loaded with good bits, heaps of large shrimp in the chop suey, spring rolls were large yet light, and the chow mein was perfectly tender. My only caution to you is that the Mar Pou tofu contains beef...I asumed it would be vegetarian. The owners and staff were so sweet and generous. read more
