Honestly, better and fresher tasting than the other more well known Indian restaurants in the area.

My parents and I went again for the lunch buffet. We got so lucky to find a seat near the buffet…read morearea immediately upon arriving. Grabbed some chaat and vegetable pakora for appetizer. The pakora was fried perfectly and had the right amount of spices, making it so flavorful and addicting that my mom enjoyed it so much. The meat area had Chicken Tikka Masala, Cashew Chicken, Goat Biryani, and Tandoori Chicken. All were wonderful. The biryani had nice pieces of goat, but most of them had bones. The the goat was tender and flavorful from being with the bones. The cashew chicken was good, but also had bones. The chicken tikka was boneless and the chicken was soft. The sauces were flavorful and medium spiced. The tandoori chicken was cooked nicely, but you did need a knife and fork to cut it. For the vegetarian dishes, the okra and potato were both enjoyable. The paneer dish was a bit too sweet for me, and the vegetable biryani seemed to have golden raisins, which I didn't enjoy. For dessert, I just took the fruit custard, which was mostly just fruit in a mango milk/sauce. It was still delicious! We all agreed that the food was great here for the buffet! The service is good, but can be busy. While our plates got cleared for the first rounds, it did pile up during the second round and dessert. It didn't get cleared until we left. It was ok because we had enough space to eat anyways. I also noticed that relaxing piano music was in the background, so it does help calm the atmosphere in a tourist area. The price increased to about 20 dollars per person, but this is still a great deal. With various types of food to enjoy and unlimited portions til your stuffed, it's an excellent value. It's our preferred restaurant for Indian lunch buffet in the I-Drive area. Overall: A-

The cheese naan is unlike any paneer naan we have tried before--almost like a cheesy quesadilla. They didn't have Aloo Choley listed, but when we asked, the kitchen put together a version with chickpeas and potatoes that turned out delicious. We ordered the Dal Maharani, and while our waitress asked about spice level, it felt like she made the decision for us. We enjoy spice, but even the first bite was hotter than we expected, and we barely ate any of it despite it being otherwise flavorful. Toward the end, our waitress asked us to leave a review... and then stood there waiting. When my husband said we were still chatting, she kept circling back to check, which felt pretty pushy. Later, when we requested to-go boxes, she said "there is no rush" and then disappeared. We had to ask again. Overall, the food is good and the staff is mostly friendly, but the unexpectedly fiery dal and the slightly overzealous service kept this from being a 5-star experience.

Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. My wife chose the buffet, assuming everything would be freshly prepared at opening time. To our surprise, every single item on the buffet line was cold -- from the rice and chicken dishes to the biryani and palak paneer. If a restaurant opens at 11:30, the food should be hot and ready to serve. Cold curries and rice immediately take away from both texture and flavor, and in this case, the dishes tasted flat and lacked the depth of spices you expect from Indian cuisine. Based on this visit, I would recommend skipping the buffet and ordering from the regular menu instead. Buffet selections often feel like the more economical options, and here they were devoid of the bold flavors that make Indian food so memorable. I ordered the chicken biryani from the à la carte menu. It was noticeably better -- aromatic and more flavorful than the buffet items. However, it still missed an important element. Traditionally, biryani is prepared by marinating the chicken and cooking it together with the rice so the spices infuse the meat and every bite is cohesive. In this case, while the rice carried some fragrance, the chicken itself was not well marinated and tasted bland on its own. It felt more assembled than thoughtfully cooked together. Another important point is pricing. The dishes are on the expensive side, and at those prices, the flavors and overall quality should be excellent. When you're paying premium prices, you expect depth of seasoning, proper preparation, and attention to detail -- not cold buffet trays or under-marinated meat. Service was the bright spot of the visit. The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our meal. Overall, not a terrible experience, but certainly disappointing. With better attention to temperature, flavor development, and consistency, this place could justify its pricing -- but on this visit, it fell short.

Service was accomodating and we got a seat at a spacious table, and the portions were huge for the price! We were basic and got the butter chicken/makhani and garlic naan, but it was very nicely done with a lot of flavor in the sauce and chicken that was not dry. There was plenty of garlic and flavor in the naan as well. I also had the goat biryani, which I was not as big a fan of. The flavor was also on point with this dish, but the goat was a little hard to eat and the meat was a little chewy and overcooked. Loved the portion size of this dish as well though, we had plenty of leftovers for another meal the next day.

Funny to say the first time I tried Tabla was at a yelp event and I recalled thinking it just tasted OK! So the feeling from the whole party was the food was very a bit too salty. A quaint little counter service spot with a couple of tables, and a glass case containing lots of delectable looking desserts. Service was very friendly. They made recommendations. I tried to make the distinction that I wanted what they thought would be the best thing to eat, Not what they thought American tourists would best stomach. And they hooked me up. I got a few things with some new flavors, I was astounded. Everything was really good. And from the event, the way that they weaved Indian flavors into more recognizable foods was genius. I think this place is going to go a long way to getting people with less adventurous palates to explore Indian cuisine more. They're like a gateway drugs. Before you know it, the patrons of this place will be into biryanis and dosas and much harder stuff. I love it. Thanks, Tabla!

We went for the Thali, and it arrived like a feast--beautifully presented with a wide variety of dishes that felt both generous and thoughtfully prepared. The portions are no joke here; it's the kind of meal that keeps you going back for "just one more bite." What's even better is that they're happy to offer additional servings if you're still hungry, which makes the experience feel warm and hospitable rather than transactional. Flavor-wise, the food really shines. Each component of the Thali carries its own personality--rich, aromatic, and rooted in tradition. You can tell the kitchen isn't cutting corners when it comes to spices and authenticity. That said, a few items leaned a bit on the salty side for my taste. It didn't take away from the overall enjoyment, but it was noticeable enough to stand out among otherwise well-balanced dishes. All in all, it's a place that delivers on both quantity and authenticity. If you're craving a hearty South Indian meal that feels close to home-style cooking, Madras Cafe is definitely worth the visit. Come hungry--you'll need the appetite.

My friend's young daughter is trying to do vegan, and my friend has a tree nut allergy AND eats gluten-free, and they can accommodate ALL OF THAT! Yay! This is one of the best menus I've seen in the United States for Desi food, and true to Orlando style, they also have some "asian" dishes / cool combos of Chinese & Indian on the menu. Pani Puri came assembled already and in a cute little wagon. Everything tasted amazing!! Tasted fresh-made with fresh ground spices & tasty ingredients.
