BEWARE--you're locked in forever after you join!!! It feels like 1998 again when gyms wouldn't let you out of contracts unless you promised your first-born. I really wanted to like this place. I signed up in June, 2022, pretty quickly after they opened but then, unfortunately, I injured my back last summer and couldn't do any extraneous exercises almost immediately after I joined. I was hoping for the best, so I waited a few months, but it didn't get any better, so I emailed them in September to cancel. They do NOT make cancellations easy--or even freezes!
They wanted me to fill out a form, but they wouldn't let me just email my cancellation (which is in opposition to their contract): "Early Cancellation. Member must provide the Studio 30 days' written notice in order to cancel. Member understands that Member will be billed for any scheduled payments due during Member's notice period."
That "written notice" was NOT enough--they asked that I drop it off in person with a doctor's note!!!
September, 2022:
"Can you swing by the front desk to fill out the freeze paperwork or email us a note from your doc so we can get this squared away for you?"
(I guess they aren't aware of the mobility issues when it comes to back problems!)
So in October 2022, I emailed them again.
And again in March 2023.
And again in May 2023.
I had luckily changed my debit card so they could not get any more of my money. They took $129 a month since last June, despite SEVERAL attempts at trying to cancel since September. I think it totaled nearly $1,000 and I don't expect to get any of that back--but they were essentially stealing that money from September (when I put my cancellation request in writing) through December (when I changed my card). And here's the kicker--they would STILL be taking the money now because each month I get an "OOPS--your payment didn't go through" email which means on THEIR end, it probably looks like I have a back balance and they still attempt to run my card each month.
Do NOT sign up here--it's really not worth the hassle if, God forbid, you have an injury. read more
