New & upscale Pilates studio in Springhouse. The owner and rep at the front desk were friendly. Check in was quick and all done via the computer. I came in for the free intro class which lasted 30 minutes. This place has all the whistles and gadgets. The studio utilizes the reformer machine, Pilates board, Pilates chair, Bosu ball, barre & other fitness equipment. Pricing is expensive (i.e. 4 classes is ~$90) but there is a current deal going on with a lower initiation fee and 10% off the 8 class pack and unlimited classes if you take an intro class and decide to join. I skipped joining since I have ClassPass and a Retro gym membership. I'd come back if the studio decides to affiliate themselves with ClassPass but I prob won't be back.

The class utilizes the Pilates Reformer machines which was very interesting to use as a first timer but I truly enjoyed it. Totally worth it, do yourself a favor and buy a Pilates Reformer package and just try it! Before I tried this studio: I only recently tried Pilates on the reformer while recovering from foot surgery (so I have some special needs as I rebuild muscle and get stronger). I had gone to 4 sessions at 2 other studios before this (in LA and Austin). I was liking how I could immediately start to feel the workouts tone my body, but was on the fence about how mentally engaging and motivating the sessions were (practically the same exact routine all four times), and its too expensive to be on the fence. Then I went to Faye's Art & Soul Yoga. Her classes are always a surprise because she has a slue of exercises and really mixes it up for a great full body work out - the hour flies by. I've only gone a few weeks but I haven't been to the same class twice. She plays motivating music which I found to be joyfully unique. She promotes yoga stretches in between so even though you SWEAR you'll be sore after the workout, you really aren't. And she is super sweet to boot. I wish she could move with me out to Seattle because I don't know how I'm going to find a studio I like as much as Art & Soul Yoga :(

Stacey has a wide range of options for me...cardio, strength, pilates, yoga, stretch, frankly if I name it, she either has it or creates it - and I'm amazed at Stacey's mastery of it all. I also think what makes Stacey different from other online or in person experiences for me is her excitement about conquering the session together. Stacey is super flexible and takes personal responsibility to help me succeed. I've had to make adjustments to our scheduled time given all the surprises popping up on my calendar, and she has worked with me to find the time, removing obstacles or excuses to skip working out. All of the staff were very friendly. As a first timer, I wasn't really sure what to expect because I didn't look anything up ahead of time and I am pretty athletic and work out about 5 times a week, weightlifting doing yoga, Pilates, and cycling on a road/mountain bike so I figured whatever it was, I would be fine. The class was actually challenging for me and engaged muscles that Other exercises I am doing have not engaged. It's core and cardio and weights sometimes all at once. The studio is 52 minutes from my home so I probably only see myself coming there once or twice a month but I appreciate that there are class packages. I was brought today by someone who is a member so she showed me around, but if I were coming alone, a staff member would've shown me the ropes and gave me an idea of what to expect. As someone who has worked at a yoga studio before and is aware of first time jitters for anyone walking into a new space, it was nice to know they offer that. was lucky to have someone show me the ropes. Their level of communication before I even showed up was more than I needed, but absolutely welcoming and helpful. They checked in to see when I wanted to schedule (after receiving my name for a free class from my friend), they asked if I had questions, told me what to wear, when to arrive to fill out first timer paperwork and let me know what I needed to bring and what they provided for the class. Overall I really enjoyed my experience and I will return despite the distance. They also have cute workout clothes in the lobby to purchase and a discount rack for those on a budget.

I've seen Liz on and off for several years for shiatsu massage which actually has significantly helped with my asthma. Now that I have begun my nursing career, I find shiatsu to be a great addition to help avoid muscle injury and fatigue. Liz is also a licensed physical therapist and incorporates her training and experience in PT into her shiatsu practice. Liz is down-to-earth and friendly and happy to chat with you during your session or respect your preference for silence. She doesn't use any offensive, scented oils or lotions in her practice and you get to keep your clothes on! She makes sure to check in with you to ask about pain throughout the treatment. Her fee is very reasonable in my opinion - $90 for one hour. You pay Liz directly for scheduling and payment so there is no having to deal with the Becoming Center as a middle-man. The space she uses is warm and relaxing and comfortable. I would recommend her to anyone who is interested in finding an experienced shiatsu practitioner not connected to a spa.
