Great staff. PA Niki is amazing. Dr. Sirils continues to be a gentleman and great physician.read more

This is the longest review you'll ever read, sorry!…read more I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Sirls (two separate appointments). I have issues with frequent urination - I've had it since I was very young - and blood in my urine. So I went to him on the recommendation of my OB/Gyn hoping to find some answers as to why this was happening. I'm in the medical field so I expected he would do some tests like residual bladder volume or a cystoscopy. Especially because I had been having hematuria for two years and I thought that warranted investigation. But, nope. Instead of doing any kind of testing, he declared that my problem was with my pelvic floor muscles. To prove it he did a pelvic exam, poked very had at my internal muscles and I said ow and he was like, look, I proved my point!! I then tried to explain to him that I have very bad endometriosis and that's why I have pelvic pain. He literally told me that I didn't really have endometriosis, that it's over diagnosed and almost no one actually has it. That was very hurtful because though my endometriosis is under control now, I went through a couple of rough years. He ended the appointment saying that I wasn't going to get better unless I went to pelvic floor physical therapy and that was that. I clarified that I would be unable to go for a year because of my schedule. I had a follow up appointment on the books for a couple months later and I decided to go and see if he could offer me something else. At the beginning of the appointment though I calmly told him how uncomfortable and disappointing it was that he said I didn't have endometriosis. I then read him the surgical report that definitely states that I have it and that it's very bad. He began to get very defensive. HE STILL TOLD ME THAT I DONT HAVE ENDO. But then he said well you have to find someone to manage your endometriosis, i don't to that. I'm like dude, it is managed, I'm here for urinary frequency, I was just trying to explain the reason for my pelvic pain- that only occurs when you stab my muscles. At that point he got out is pad and started writing the names of other doctors I could see. All of which has the same pelvic floor philosophy as himself. He again states that I will only get better with PT. I remind him that I've gotten it for more than 4 months in the past. His response was that "our physical therapist are better than the ones you saw in Pittsburgh". I reminded him that this has been a problem since I was very young - I don't think I had pelvic floor issues in the second grade. I explain that I won't be able to do PT for 9 months because of my schedule and even if it is magic I need something to help in the meantime. He literally says "that's not my problem that you can't go." Shocked I asked can we do some sort of investigation as to what might be going on other than my pelvic floor muscles were tight. He says "like what?" As though he literally doesn't know what a would doctor do if not send the patient to PT. I asked for a bladder scan, which did give me useful information. He never addressed my hematuria. This is a long story and I'm sorry for that. But we all know the negative reviews that say "this was the worst doctor ever" aren't actually helpful. I've thought a lot about the way I behaved during both appointments trying to make sure I wasn't the problem and I believe that I acted much more appropriately than he did. I made I statements, I clearly stated what I needed, gave him reasons for my concerns about course of treatment (since I had already tried PT and I was having blood in my urine, which seems to me unrelated to pelvic floor disfunction) and stayed calm and didn't cry even when I felt like it. He also made statements that sounded like I was accusing him of being a bad doctor. Though I do feel that way I made sure to clarify that I wasn't saying negative things about him as a physician I was just speaking to how he made me feel on the two issues.
