Originally, my prescription was for 1 1/2 pills, which meant I had to split a pill each day. At my last routine physical, I mentioned to Dr. Kastl that I had been taking 2 pills instead because it wasn't always convenient to cut them, and the difference in dosage was minimal. She agreed and officially changed my prescription to 2 pills. Six months later, when I requested a refill, I was told I had to schedule a medication check before it would be approved. I scheduled and attended the appointment, which lasted about five minutes and involved no meaningful discussion or changes to my treatment. The following week, I received a $150 bill for that brief visit. I contacted Dr. Kastl multiple times to express my concern and pointed out that, based on my understanding of Michigan law and federal guidelines, the medication I take does not require a mandatory six-month follow-up. Rather than acknowledging my concerns or showing any empathy, my messages were dismissed by simply stating "it's our policy". In this situation, patient care took a back seat to billing. After being a loyal patient for years, I was extremely disappointed by how this was handled. I will not be returning to this practice and would encourage others to carefully consider their options when choosing a primary care provider.

Then three months later I felt pain in my chest, and my heart rate was high suddenly. I went to see him again, he said it's nothing, just your muscles and he prescribed muscle relaxer! I took the pills for another week and got worse. Called him, he said maybe your heart then, do the blood test. I did the blood test immediately and then although the test result was normal, he called me and asked me to go to the emergency room on Saturday night at 10 PM! We went to ER, were there until next morning and did lots of tests, and everything was normal (they told me we don't know why he sent you to ER at all but if you like you can ask him to write a CT scan to be sure everything is ok!) I called him to send me a CT scan order he told me I should schedule another appointment and see him again to give me the test order!! I scheduled another appointment and went to see him, and he said ok if you want to do the CT scan here is the order (he could do that without asking me to go and pay for another visit). I told him BTW I had thyroid problems before (he knew that from my files), do you think we should test it too? He said, hm it's not from thyroid but why not, let's test that too! I checked my thyroid, and it was super high!!! Finally, it turned out that it was my thyroid, not my heart or muscles !! I ended up paying 3000$ for ER and 400$ for the office visits !!! Since wishing it away wasn't working, I contacted Dr. Phil. He got me in at his new location and quickly got to the bottom of things. He gave me a treatment in office and his recommendations worked like a charm. It is nice to be past a potential setback, learn a few lessons, and get a God-given answer of peace all at the same time. Have a refreshed sense of gratitude, especially on that last one. The good news doesn't stop there. I recently renewed my 3rd year of membership and still find that even when the membership fee is added to the cost of my alt health coverage, the total remains less than my old health insurance premium alone. I'm so glad I said goodbye to the gougers and never looked back. It's been a welcome change and under Dr. Phil's care I continue to hit peak after peak in terms of health.

I have severe health anxiety and felt extremely comfortable in Tracy's care. When I came to this office, I was already annoyed by the 20-30 min wait times before you're even called into a room. The office staff is never accountable or apologetic for anything. If anything, Rose and Gabby go out of their way to be petty. If there is an issue at the office they will never speak to you, they make other people call you back. Rose did a PA for a medication once, under my maiden name, after already giving them my new married name and new drivers license. I went round and round with the pharmacy and the office until I requested to see the PA approval form. Had Rose taken two seconds to speak to me about it, she would've realized her error. Instead she was rude to me via email correspondence, and made it seem like I was the reason for all of the confusion. Don't even get me started on the amount of times I have had my prescriptions sent to the incorrect pharmacy and 30 day refills after requesting 90 day refills for non-narcotic meds. I have lapsed in my medications that cannot be stopped abruptly 3 times because of their inefficiencies. When I spoke to the office mang., Brandy, regarding my frustration's of the office, her response was wild. She said and I quote "yah F*&k my life, I gave two many employees time off with checking to see who was off first". I myself work in a medical office and am appalled that the office mang speaks to patients in this way. Even after all of this, I stayed because Tracy is a WONDERFUL practitioner who actually listens to you. Well, today was the final straw. After being scheduled for med refill and bloodwork appt, I showed up for my appt, only to be told that HE'LL be in shortly. When I asked who "he" was, I was told Dr Patterson will be in to explain everything. I have historically only seen Tracy the NP, and had never even met Dr Patterson. Brandie the office mang never once said anything to me that my provider had changed, let alone that Tracy was no longer even a part of the practice. After waiting until 9:20am for my 8:40 appt, I walked out. I asked for a records release to sign as I was leaving and could hear the back office talking about me. How I just "walked out". Now that Tracy is gone, I will never return to this office. Dr Patterson is transitioning to concierge medicine and will now be requiring an annual fee for tiered patient care. I already pay my copays, deductibles, and coinsurances. I would never pay an annual fee for a Doctor who doesn't give a shit about how shitty his office runs or how they treat their patients.
