This store was magical. Loved the outdoor fairy garden. Loved the potpourri. I bought some of the rose sent for my friend and she keeps it in her car and loves it. They also have lovely little special trinkets for the kiddos like stickers and colorful heart stones, or glow in the dark pebbles for your fairy garden. Such a cool little shop in Downtown Cambria that is straight out of a movie: The Craft. Very unique. The store itself is kinda small but has different rooms throughout the store. There are sections that have herbs, teas, candles, books, and anything your little witch heart desires. Prices are great and the items they have are different and worth the amount. The back room has a huge selection of different teas that can aid in herbal remedies. There were a few that caught my eye and I still beat myself over not buying it. There is cute garden out back which is influences by Alice and Wonderland. Enjoyed walking around and finding fairies and other cool decor that fully immersed you into this experience. Pretty cool store to see and plus the staff is very friendly and welcoming. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely have to make a stop to buy a couple of items that I loved. read more

Spellbound is a charming and whimsical little shop that can meet all your witchy needs. They have seeds, herbs, oils and cute little retail items that are great for gifting to someone you know or even to yourself. Staff is friendly and welcoming. They have a beautiful garden out back that is worth having a look at every time we visit. It is their garden, in fact, that inspired me to begin my own whimsical garden. Retail items are fair in price, in my opinion. I've also seen items they carry that I would typically order on Amazon (Zum mist) that they retail at a lower price. I'd say if you buy one thing from Spellbound, purchase their Spellbound essential oil blend. It smells amazing and a little goes a long way. I use it in all the oil burners in my home and stock up every time I visit the shop. Next time you visit Cambria, definitely give Spellbound a visit. read more

We stopped in last Sunday with our daughter while jaunting around Morro Bay and Cambria. My time as a customer goes back to when the shop was called Heart's Ease. The house where the books, lotions, potpourri, cards, and more are located may be more rustic now, with sloping wooden floors, and garden spaces continue to evolve. It is always a peaceful and charming place to visit when in the East Village area. You never know what will be growing in the garden. Many unique benches, signs, and accent pieces take residence there, so be sure to wander at a leisurely pace. One of the rooms to pass through on the way to the garden is filled with large jars of potpourri. I found one scent that was so lovely that I scooped a portion to buy. Tied up in a bag with fresh floral accent, it would make a beautiful gift. This time, the gift is coming home with me. :-) It's always a treat to visit Spellbound Herbs and Garden. read more

I am not a person who is normally in to new age- magic - this sort of store. But I was mesmerized (irony) by this little shop. It had the cutest layout and so many things to look at. I was excited to find the incense (I use) as well as cards and candles. Everything was so cute and reasonably priced. The garden in the back was such a hidden secret garden-- my kid spent 15 min out there exploring. Once I checked out my items which only came to $14 it was packed in this gorgeous bag with lavender. I cannot say how much we absolutely loved the shop. I've been coming to Cambria for 30 years. I have never realized it was here. The smells were intoxicatingly cleansing and calming. Everywhere we looked there were unique, Interesting and beautiful things to see. We wandered into the backyard and found this mystical garden shop. I've never seen some of the pieces I saw there. This place reminds me of an organized, clean version of Berkeley. The smells of the herbs, oils, and nag champa were inviting and soothing. There are so many different hand-made soaps, jewelry, candles, and other trinkets. The shop is in an old historic house and has a lot of character and a great ambiance. I fell in love with the outdoor garden, as there were many Disney and Harry Potter nuances. OMG! The cutest little store! I've been past there so many times and never taken notice of the shops along Burton. We typically stayed on Main Street when in town. Anyway, the other day we walked all along Burton and popped into this little gem of a shop. It smells soooo good inside the store...you can even make your own mix of potpourri! There are different rooms to wander through and an amazing garden area in back. They had Halloween decor on display to help you get your own house decorated! A friend collects mermaids and we saw a number of different mermaid items. Look up when you walk through the rooms...one room had ornaments hanging from the ceiling. Found a cute little sun catcher for my garden. Saw the cutest metal flowers...I wanted three of them for my yard, so maybe next time! read more

SAD Update: I visited Spellbound Herbs just a couple hours after I wrote the first review below. Unfortunately, this is the first time in decades that I have been disappointed in Spellbound Herbs. I'm bummed. . I had a list of items I intended to buy today ... but no luck. In the past, they carried several herbal lotions, soaks & balms for tired feet. Footcare items were previously located on the right side of the store front just as you enter. Today - nothing. It was as if they had no idea what I was talking about. Also, no luck in getting the room freshener spray mist that I have enjoyed for years. Previously, it had been located on the right-hand shelf in the rear of the second room. Today -- nothing. The potpourri looked so fake with it's brightly dyed flowers and leaves sprayed with gold glittery spray paint! . Dollar store potpourri with decent-smelling essential oils. Why oh why?? I'm so disappointed. What happened?? Why the changes in inventory? Original review I've been loving this place for over 35 years. It was formerly called Hearts Ease. I've worn the same scent for decades-- China Musk Oil. Other stores sell China Musk but those don't smell anything like the true China Musk sold here. Every time we pass through Cambria, I always stock up! The sweet old store is consistently adorable and really hasn't changed at all over all these years despite change of ownership once. They have a large selection of everything I love: Artsy things, handmade & imported soaps, lotions, candles, room fresheners, essential oils, jewelry, stationery, books, yard art, flowers/herb/vegetable seeds & garden stuff. ~~~~ One of the main attractions is the potpourri room full of several barrels of glorious potpourri blends -- heavenly! Self serve scoop straight from the barrel into paper bags & weighed at the counter. The service is awesome. Your purchase is ways wrapped up for you, ribbon tied with a sweet sprig of something yummy smelling .. usually lavender. Outside there is a small herb garden with a walking path next to benches, garden statuary and other cute things. Walking to the front door of the cottage of Heart's Ease is what I liken to anticipating a visit with a dear friend. Not that I know the shopkeepers here, despite the number of times I have entered this little house. For now, that's fine; usually, I have been traveling with thoughts on my mind, and I'm in the shop because I am seriously considering to purchase a gift. One of the main reasons I like Heart's Ease is that I can look deeply into the wares while enjoying how the items are displayed. What I see is delightful---it does ease the heart. The soap selection is outstanding. The book collection and cards are always of interest as are the gardening-related items. Over the years, I have purchased herbal starts here, and have been pleased by their presence in my home garden. It is always reassuring to experience an older Californian house and garden cared for so lovingly, and the bonus is that this is a business. I adore this shop. I will drive from Atascadero to Cambria just to come and walk/ sit in their beautiful garden that has been designed amazingly. Their whole shop is like a maze that just keep growing the first time you go in, as you walk back, it just keeps going. The garden itself has all sorts of things from different movies that bring you back to childhood and things you enjoy including Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and the Hobbit as well as plenty of fairy references.
