It's the kind of place where you can tell they care about their coffee and the overall experience. I did try the Dubai brownie, and it wasn't my favorite, but everything else about the visit made up for it. The vibe of the shop feels like the perfect place to settle in and get some work done. It's cozy, welcoming, and somewhere I can definitely see myself spending a few productive hours. I'll definitely be back!

The shop was super quiet, as was the staff; however, they were very nice. The person who took my…read moreorder was helpful in explaining the different types of chai. I ended up getting a karak chai and a gulab jamun cheese cake to go for $15 including $2 tip. The chai was too hot to drink right away but I kept sneaking tiny sips until it cooled off. It wasn't great, but I thought it would be better once I could get a good swallow of it. Wrong. The tea was extremely bitter (a sign of over-boiling or using too much tea leaves) and I wasn't able to discern any spices. I tried to doctor it up once I got home, but nothing helped so it went down the drain. Blech. The cheese cake should have been delicious, but it was drying out from sitting in the case too long. It was very stiff, and the outside was turning to plastic. (Not literally, but it looked and felt like it.) I didn't finish that either. This place has a great menu, and I was initially looking forward to visiting more often once I start getting allergy shots at the clinic next door, but I will save my money and spend it at La Birria Loca down the block instead.

I ordered a pancake breakfast latte, and it definitely resembles pancakes! It was delicious. The quality and attention to detail at Kindred is clear, and you can tell they truly care about what they do and have a genuine passion for coffee. I also tried their hummus toast and it was really good! I'd love to try more of their food items in the future.

I was impressed to see the staff members keeping up with the hustle and bustle. I'd consider the space small/moderate-ish. There are 2 different areas to sit at and my guess is at max capacity it's ~40 people. Their coffee menu is pretty standard when compared to other coffee shops. 1 item that stood out to me was the mocha latte. They label it as 'the most amazing mocha latte' which naturally made me want to try it. This is not my usual coffee order, I typically get a chai or a matcha so kudos for reeling me in with the fun verbiage lol. They don't offer almond milk but thankfully they do have oat so I got that instead. They aren't kidding about it being the most amazing mocha latte.. it was REAL good. It was rich, creamy and oh so delicious. I also loved the latte art. For food I got a blueberry muffin and enjoyed it. I liked that it had different textures throughout, the crumble and the smoothness of the muffin itself. It is also generous with the amount of blueberries in it. If you're looking for a breakfast sandwich or really any hot breakfast items.. sadly you won't get it here, but the muffins make up for it!

FGR curates an excellent selection of coffee gear, coffee's and provides free shipping. I was especially impressed by Eric, his responsiveness to my questions, and his knowledge of brewing different methods of coffee. While Baratza was delayed in shipping my order, Eric kept me informed and expedited the order with a Baratza rep. He even took some time to explain brewing techniques and recommended a scale that saved me $$, even though they did not stock it themselves. On receiving the order, there was a minor defect in a silicon gasket, and Eric immediately ordered a free replacement with Baratza. Despite living in San Francisco, I will recommend FGR for their great selection of artisan coffees and brew gear, excellent customer service that goes beyond lip service. I trust them, and after my positive experience and will continue to shop and endorse. Thank you Eric.

And while it may be a little difficult to find it, it proves the maxim that good things are worth looking for (if that's not a maxim, it is now). The owner roasts his own coffee beans, roasts chicken in house, uses orgcanic greens, makes his own salad dressing, and makes soups from scratch daily. Plus, he serves breakfast, with all the accoutrements one would want. I enjoyed a fresh cup of coffee, some scrambled eggs with sausage, and an English muffin. It was all tasty. The star of the show, however, was the sample of lentil soup he gave me. As I was paying for my bill, I said to Ashraf, the owner: "I'll be back next week to buy some beans from you. And if I like your soup, I'll buy that too. Trust me." "I do trust you," Ashraf said. "And I trust my soup. You'll be back" He was right. I tried the soup that afternoon. It's delightful, flavorful, and made with love. I went back two days later, and bought my coffee beans, and a quart of lentil soup. This is my new favorite place.
