He charges and illegally high "convenience fee" when you use a card, without telling you he's doing it. The law is no more than 5%. He charges a flat fee of 40¢, and most of his transactions are well under the $8 it would take for that fee to be legal. The law says he has to post a notice (he has one, but it's now mostly covered by a basket of apples) AND tell EACH customer EVERY TIME about the fee - he's not doing that at all. He also doesn't give you your pennies. He doesn't ask, he just keeps them. If the total is $2.98 and you give him a five, he'll hand you $2 back and shut the register. It doesn't sound like much, but he's doing that to every person who pays cash, it adds up. I'd give him negative stars if I could.

I avoid going into the store and usually just pump gas and leave but our experiences have varied over the past few years. You more than likely will be approached for money both outside and inside. Ci even had a gentleman offer to pay for her candy with food stamps one night in exchange for some cash! What an offer! If you are lucky, you might even see a drug deal going down. I have to give Kudos for anyone who works here because of all the crap they must put up with. They are not necessarily friendly but most convenience store clerks aren't. Its a typical SuperAmerica but its unusual in that, you would expect something a little less sketchy in the neighborhood. I hope they try and clean it up before the Stadium is finished. They have decided that the solution to their high theft problem is to lock up every household product with a dollar value above 99 cents. This "solution" means that you cannot look at the product you intend to purchase, nor can you carry it to the checkout yourself. Additionally, the already over-worked employee forced to baby sit you is not interested in the fact that you may need more than a nano second to consider your options before making a purchase. Let's not forget, that as the burdensome task of waiting for you to decide on your product falls to this presumably union employee, this arrangement forces them to treat you as a potential shoplifter. This allows them the space between you and them since, as you can imagine, they spend their shift being yelled at and generally crapped on. Well, Cub, at Midway. This is your grand plan to make money, is it? Have all your products behind glass, and then, if anyone has the audacity to point out how ludicrous this is, the only option is to complain to an employee who also realizes what a complete waste of everyone's time and energy this but is forced into compliance lest they complain and risk their $13.21 an hour, no benefits. So, I think it goes without saying that I won't be shopping at this Cub again. But I know the decision-makers don't read these reviews, nor do they care. He was angry because a car in front of him at the corner of Dayton and Western in St. Paul stopped for me an my dog to cross the street. He was driving aggressively and came to a sudden stop and honked. He continued to scream at me for my "illegal" crossing of the street. He continued to claim pedestrians only have the right of way when there is a sign or painted cross walk. He is wrong. The woman who courtesly stopped to allow me and my dog to cross was following the law. Being stupid or ignorant of the law doesn't make you right no matter how loud or profane you are. He stated he was the owner of the AA Market and he and the old man behind the counter banned me from their store. What a loss, I can no longer shop at a fire hazard convenience store with exorbitant prices and out of date milk and bread that hasn't been cleaned in years. Both of these men need classes in anger management. While I don't expect this review to impact their business or their crazy behavior, I thought the neighborhood should know about their complete lack of intelligence, integrity and character. The following is from the St. Paul, Minneapolis and MN DOT rules and regulations regarding pedestrian crossings. Pedestrians generally have the right-of-way at all intersections and crosswalks--whether marked or unmarked--even when there is no stop sign or traffic light, provided they enter the roadway safely. At Intersections and Crosswalks: Motorists are legally required to yield or stop for pedestrians crossing at any marked or unmarked crosswalk at an intersection. The one thing the dim witted young man was correct about was when he asked is it ok if you try to cross a highway and expect cars to stop? No, in that case I would have been in the wrong. But Dayton and Western are residential streets with 25 mph speed limit. Time for someone to retake their drivers education classes.
