I did ask the barrista a few general questions that she answered with a warm big smile. It's very cute and cozy inside. Staff is super knowledgeable about the beans they roast in house and easy to chat coffee with. The quality of beans served hits every time, never burned or over roasted. Retail beans have a stellar variety for roast level and bean origin-- everything I've tried has a unique flavor profile and is roasted to compliment each bean for what it is. Most recent bean I took home was a light roast Colombia Juan Puerta mango co-ferment, and it was perfect for a Chemex pour over. Dude behind the counter helped me choose a good bean that day to fit what I was craving, and helped me learn more about the what a co-ferment bean was.

We have friends who normally work remotely from Open Door and they say it's typically quiet. Unfortunately for my wife and I, on the day we visited it was packed with a group of loud high school-aged girls who were very noisy chatting and clapping...I couldn't wait to get my coffee and get out. There were some adults in there who had their laptops open and I'm sure were trying to concentrate but I don't see how while we were there. Nice place. We would like to give it another try when it's not so full of boisterous teens.

The baristas were friendly and gave us time to peruse the good sized menu. Both drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. Especially the dirty chai with cold foam...yum. I will definitely be back again! Thank you, Scribbles Coffee! :)

The coffee house has experienced baristas offering beautiful latte art and a variety of coffee selections. My challenges are the stocking of pastries and accompaying items wasn't the best, possibly when I happened to come in, with several things out of stock. Additionally, order management seemed a bit haphazard with my order getting lumped in with multiple others and not being produced in order of customers ordering. Bottom line, I think Heartwood is a good coffee shop overall, but doesn't have the stocking or efficiency of a coffee shop I would rate in top shops.
