I like cheap gas and this place doesn't have the cheapest gas around. My daughter on the other hand, only gets Shell gas because she swears that she gets more miles per gallon. This particular location has a touch less car wash, but I can't comment on it because I've never used it. I also have to admit that I can't comment much on the inside. I rarely go inside. They do sell local beer though, but that's not enough to entice me to go inside again. I just stick with the 'pay at the pump' option and never have I experienced any issue with the card reader not working.

The cashier was counting cigarette packs and I stood there about 3 minutes waiting on him to finish. It was $7.99 for the tiny bottle of Nyquil, but I needed it so I got it anyway. The cashier rang it up at almost $11. I said that was wrong, the price said $7.99. He mumbled something I couldn't understand and just looked at me. I motioned to walk back to the aisle with me, and he did, and I showed him the price. He mumbled some more. I told him to just give me the right price and I'd be good. We went back to the register--I expected him to credit me a couple of bucks. He reached me back my $10 and took the Nyquil and walked away. I stood there a minute, then motioned to the Nyquil. He mumbled something else that was obviously negative, something about "you wanted a refund." I said no, I just wanted a credit of a couple of bucks to get the advertised price. He said whatever it rings up to IS the price. I left and bought a bigger bottle of Nyquil at the Thorton's for less money, and had a much nicer cashier. It's not the buck or two... it's the attitude that drove me away. If your employees aren't empowered to make purchases right, you must not trust them very much, and if you don't trust them, you shouldn't have them working for you.

After all, Lexington has been rough on grocery stores. You know, after the short run of Luckys and Fresh Tyme. I guess we prefer to eat out over grocery shopping. This is a small neighborhood grocery. When you see it, from the corner or Citation Blvd and Leestown Road, it looks like an oversized gas station. There is a Shell station attached to it, but it's bigger than it appears at first glance. There's also a Which Wich location inside, which will also have a drive thru, but it's not open now. They have a pretty big selection of beer, in the Beer Cave cooler. Right now, they're running buy one get one free specials on the rotisserie chickens, chicken salad made from rotisserie chicken, and fresh cut fruit. The sale/specials signs are displayed outside, near the entrance. I love that feature, because it means we don't have to grab an ad to see what's on sale. I hope they keep that feature. The chicken salad was fantastic! It will definitely be one of my staple items. The soft serve ice cream machine is also a welcomed feature, especially since the neighborhood McDonalds' soft serve machine is never working. That's besides the pint though, I know. The checkout process is weird. The don't have checkout lanes, it's one big check out counter, with several cashiers. There's no real start of a line, or any indication where to wait for the next available cashier. When I was there, no one was in line, so I stood in the middle, away from the counter and the cashier called for me. I asked her what the line process is, but she didn't have an answer. You pull into Meadowthorpe shopping center and the station is on the right, not exactly right beside of the grocery store. It's self-serve. If you don't pay with a card, there is an attendant located in the private booth in the middle of the pumps... sort of like a private office with a speaker. They should be open 24/7 but they aren't. The price of gasoline per gallon generally the most inexpensive in the area. And if you have a Kroger Plus card and spend $100, you earn enough points to receive ten cents off per gallon. I think the points are only available for a month, though.
