I ended up ordering a cup of coffee and two donuts. I had the Biscoff donut and the Oreo donut. The donuts were way more sugar than I needed but they were delicious! I just had the regular coffee with cream but it was nice and hot and also self-serve. I have stopped at this location many times as I used to work near here. They have a pretty good selection of donuts.

The Greenfield location is tucked inside of a strip mall on State Road 9. I stopped by midweek with my husband to indulge in a donut. The cases were full of perfectly iced or glazed donuts. The shop is cute and cozy inside with a few tables and some comfy seating. Any donut is $2 or a dozen for $22. The clerk is friendly and offers a few recommendations. I snag a blueberry, which is soft and melts in my mouth. My husband had Bavarian Cream filled donut, which is popular with the locals. He loved his donut. They serve a variety of upscale coffees and smoothies. So good, I'll be back.

The table reservations are $40, but once you arrive, that money becomes credit to be used in the store for food, drinks, games, etc. They have a coffee shop in the back with elixers, coffee and tea, and a small assortment of baked goods. They also have a large selection of brand new games and game novelties for purchase. In the very back, behind the coffee counter is a selection of games that can be played while in the store. There is no charge for those. You cannot bring your own food or drink in. The table reservations are for 2 hrs I believe. They also do events in the store like D&D.

One good friend wrote about it, then a Yelp friend mentioned it the same day when I saw her in person. I guess those two things were a sign that I needed to visit? Journalism school taught me that three instances of something equals a trend, but I was satisfied with two things, this time. Hitherto is more than half an hour from where I live, but I made time on a Friday morning to visit. To heck with work and the PTO meeting, right? Your girl needs a chai latte! I usually exclusively drink black coffee, but I heard that the chai latte here is dope so that's what I got. I'm glad I did! It was smooth and creamy, with just the right amount of spice. I also got a chocolate chip cookie, because it had fleur de sel on it. I love sweet things with salt on them! I like to think I'm a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur, and I can spot a great CCC just by glancing at it. I wasn't even in the mood for a cookie, but after looking at the cookies in the display case, I had to get a chocolate chip cookie because I knew it would be amazing. I told myself that I would take it home and eat it later, but I ended up eating it in my car. You guys. The chocolate chip cookies at Hitherto are perfect. I don't know if they make them in-house or source them from elsewhere, but if you want a little sweet treat and you're not sure what to get (they have lots of delicious-looking baked goods), get the chocolate chip cookie with fleur de sel. It's a good thing. The space inside the coffee shop is so cozy and inviting. It's a small space, but when I visited, there were plenty of tables available. Some people were tucked into a corner playing board games, some people were behind laptops working, and some were chatting with friends. It was a nice vibe, and I'm so glad a place like this exists in Indy. I just wish it were located closer to me! Part of the shop is a space dedicated to new board games that you can purchase. They had lots of games for all ages and interests, and even my oldest kid's favorite board game, Splendor. They also have board games that you can borrow and play at your table. Bonus: They play good music here! Hitherto was exactly where I should have been at that very moment on Friday morning, and do you know why? Because when I walked in, a song that I've been rinsing and repeating was playing over the speakers (a Jose Gonzales cover of a The Knife song). What! It's not even a popular cover. I plotzed. Evelyn Confections -- also somewhat confusingly called Greenfield Chocolates by some -- is a boutique chocolate shop in downtown Greenfield. They use Valrhona chocolate and other high-quality ingredients to make their confections, and everything that they make is so fresh that they ask you to eat it within two weeks. I love that these chocolates are so good that they have rules! I don't think any kind of chocolate, in any amount, would last two weeks at my house, especially if it came from this chocolate shop, so that's no problem for me. They gave samples of their milk chocolate and dark chocolate, both of which were amazing. The chocolate has a snap when you bite into it, which is what you want. Then, it melts in your mouth. So luscious and delicious. I got a small sampler box of some of their popular chocolates: a milk chocolate caramel, a creamy vanilla bean truffle, a lemon chiffon truffle, a chocolate that had champagne in it (!!) and a crispy chocolate bonbon. Each chocolate was unique and spectacular and delightful. They have lots of chocolates and truffles, but they also sell chocolate bars, chocolate-covered nuts, caramel clusters and so many other chocolate-covered things. Greenfield Chocolates -- also called J. Evelyn Confections -- has received the Indiana Artisan seal of approval, which is kind of a big deal! It means that this local chocolate shop is committed to creating handcrafted and high-quality products in Indiana, which is really cool.

The clerk was friendly and happy to tell me the story of the owner, her friend who has this remarkable candy making skills. Most of the chocolate comes from Europe and all the candies are made fresh on site. The candies looked like little works of art. Some of the candies have a short shelf life (a couple days) because they are made of fresh ingredients and preservative free. She told me that their best seller are these giant nut clusters. They come with pecans or cashews and milk chocolate or dark. I picked out a dark chocolate cashew cluster. I ate my candy later in the evening and it tasted simply devine. The chocolate was rich and salty and the caramel creamy with the crunch of the fresh tasting nuts. What a treat. I'll be returning. The clerk told me that they decorate seasonly, and Christmas decor is fabulous.
