Amazing knowledge and repair ability - my old Nikon is now back to excellent working order.

Years back I was a pro photographer. I recently started to shoot again and Jay was able to completely restore my gear.

My camera was in need and Dr. Jay was wonderful and did his thing and I have a "new" camera back. We are over an hour away and he made accomodations for the repair right then. Years ago I dropped my 20D off to this shop with a financial deposit. I never received a fixed camera or even my original broken camera back. Over the years I have sat silent, but I figure I might as well give a warning to any potential customers. I think he used my camera for parts. I have a camara canon that my dog make me drop off and the lent brake I was freaking out I didn't know where to fix the camara even I try to fix it myself but didn't work I look everywhere near my areas for camara repair but there where nothing my boyfriend find this camara repair spot a hour far away from me I was like I don't know is to long but I got there he was nice and patient with me being annoying about my camara but he fix it and was professional highly recommend to fix your old cámaras or any problems with them thank you again . read more

Whether you are an amateur or pro, you can trust your stuff to Jay at Specialty. Mail-away services have their place but there are times you want to put your precious little toy into the guy's hand personally! I know I do, and I'm always happy I made the decision to go with them. He recently repaired two Nikon SB-800 flashes and they look and work better than they ever did. Maybe not cheap but you get your money's worth, for sure. I bought a camera on Ebay, and it was working really well, except when I tried to upgrade the firmware, the USB port didn't work. I tried multiple cables, and nada. I thought I had bought a bad camera, even though everything else about it was in perfect working order. I went to Specialty, and the man checked out my camera thoroughly, and immediately told me it was the cable. I went out and bought the best cable I could find and it worked like a charm. Didn't charge me a penny for his time, and honesty. Integrity is a hard thing to find these days, but I will never go to another camera place again when I need help with my gear. This is a really great and honest shop. I brought my camera in as it wouldn't turn on. It had been temperamental for a while and I assumed there was a mechanical issue with it. The shop deduced that it was actually the charger that was the issue and not the camera. They took a good amount of time to diagnose my issue and then didn't charge me once it was determined it was the charger and not the camera. I really appreciate their service! read more
