If I could leave this place 0 stars, I would. This DME supplier has a ton of work to do before they win back my business. This supplier has horrible customer service representatives and a lack of following up with customers/patients. When I first was issued my CPAP machine in 2010, this was my main DME supplier for my supplies. At first, their customer service was great. Then they slowly started to slip. I had an issue with getting my replacement supplies and was met with horrible customer service. I ended up contacting the owner back then and they acknowledged the problem. I was dissatisfied with the lack of concern so I left them. Fast forward to 2018, I ended up changing over from Optigen. I thought that since some time had elapsed, things would have improved at Special Care. Boy was I WRONG! Everything went well from the start until my prescription expired. I was contacted by their representative and informed to renew my prescription. I complied and made my appointment, kept my appointment, and contacted them back after my appointment. I was told to wait for the script to be processed and sent back to them. I am a TriCare patient. I knew that the process might take some time, however; not weeks! The afternoon I contacted Special Care I was met with a unconcerned representative. I asked the gentleman regarding my prescription and he interrupted me with, "Your information was processed"! He gave me no other information when I asked him. i asked to speak to his manager in which he obliged. The manager was NO better and acknowledged the problem but did nothing to improve the process or address their shortfalls. I urge my fellow military veterans and retirees to think twice when dealing with Special Care. They have missed the mark with me and I will NEVER do business with them again. The owner needs to get more involved in turning this business around and hire more productive and motivated employees. Poor employees reflect the ownership of this business and the lack of oversight. read more

My home o2 concentrator went on the fritz and I called the next morning and they were right on top of it and asked why I didn't call last night so they could respond right away...they replaced it the next day with no issues...I had enough e bottles so not a real issue but glad they were willing to respond to my needs. In August of 2013 I went to San Diego California on a family reunion. I flew from downtown Salt Lake City Utah to Downtown San Diego California. I stayed from 01 - 12 AUG 2013. Special Care was very helpful. While I was in San Diego the first (2) Two day's I had to stay in a motel before the rest of my family showed up at the KOA Campground. I use an $80,000.00 dollar power chair. While out of town I needed a Back-Up Power Chair. This was because when my power chair needed to charge & I still needed to get around plus the back up power chair came in very handy. Even know the motel said they remodeled the rooms & the room I was staying in was an ADA Accessible room my $80,000.00 dollar power chair would not fit in the bathroom. Special care really lives up to their name. While I was there Special Care Delivered the chair to the motel room & it was waiting inside the room for me. When it was time to go to the KOA Campground Special Care picked the chair up from my motel room & the other items such as my luggage that I had secured on the seat of the chair to the KOA Campground. When I arrived at the campground the chair was waiting for me. After my stay at the KOA Campground I had to stay (2) Two more day's at the same motel after my family left the KOA Campground at 111 N 2Nd Ave Chula Vista California 91910. Special Care delivered the back up power chair back & it again was waiting for me in my motel room. I spent a good couple of days then left back to Salt Lake City Utah. Special Care then picked up the back up chair so I didn't have to take it back to their shop. Special Care really did take Special Care of me. They are very professional, Courteous & provided an above & beyond expectations service that no other wheelchair shop in Salt Lake City Utah has not & could Never do. Special Care made my trip to San Diego a very Special Experience that no one else could ever do. Thank You for your special care. If you want special care then these professional's will provide you with a special experience you will never forget. This business has very​ poor communication. I called them on 12/26/17 and left a message with "Tye" ​requesting a return call, regarding obtaining a walker for my 83-year-old​ mother. No response I called again, 2 more times leaving the same message. No response. I called and spoke with Victoria on 1/22/18 and expressed my dismay about not receiving a callback​. I asked her to once again, leave a message with "Tye" stating, If I didn't​ get​ a ​callback​, I would have to talk to his supervisor. Once again, no return call. I'm guessing this was deliberate. Who doesn't return a call to someone​ who is upset? On 1/23/18, I called again. This time I was connected to "Tye." I told him I had called several times and he never returned any of my calls​. His response? He had​ thousands of Medicare​ claims and​ he was the only one who was working them and he didn't get around to my calls yet. Seriously? I reminded him that it had been over a month and a half since the first call and asked him if it was his policy not return call. I guess I caught him off guard because his demeanor quickly changed to rudeness. He then told me he didn't have an order for​ my mother in his database​ and was quickly​ ready to dismiss​ me. I requested to speak to his supervisor. I advised his supervisor about him not returning my calls and his rudeness​. She apologized​ and stated​ she would have a talk with​ him. I told her I was uncomfortable dealing​ with him now. She informed me she​ couldn't find an order for my mother but she would look into it. She explained several things could have happened with the order and she would look into it and call me back. I advised her a call advising me of this earlier would have avoided this​ delay. I also explained how my mother has already fallen and she was at risk of doing so again​. What's troubling about this ordeal is, for 1 1/2 months, nothing was done to process this because "NO ONE" bothered to return my call to inform me​ they didn't have anything for her. I feel like I am being held hostage with this company because according to "TYE," they are the only company who deals with Medicare. Mr. Tye, if you're​ going to continue to work in the medical equipment arena, I'd suggest you start returning calls to patients or their families and not act like you're being bothered by them. read more

On 4/19/17 I ordered a rollator walker for a patient, proper documentation was sent, to meet Medicare Guidelines. I have re faxed the order 5 times. Still no response, after two calls. I finally spoke with a representative, who explained what he wanted. The miscommunication about where the doctor had to sign was very poor. If we would have been told exactly what they wanted, after the first few faxes, the patient would have had her walker by now. I was told that the patient will be receiving her walker on 5/8/17. The communication with this company is very poor, and I will Not recommend them or use their services ever again. read more

My experience with Special Care has always been super. Always able to get someone on the phone and answer all my questions. They are local in San Diego and will go out of their way to get patients things they need. I have worked with several medical supply companies, and Special Care is by far the best one in my opinion. read more

All he's been good for is to give me the run around about a Walker that I have so needed for the last week and a half. His attitude also needs to improve, I wonder why they have people working there who don't care about other people in need. But, like I told him, what goes around, comes around. a walker was ordered for the day of my mother's discharge. It came to the rehab center after we went home, but was to be delivered that day at the house. didn't happen. they said they would have it to her the next day. no one came or called. I called and was told there was some 'miscommunication'. Promise was for the next day by special arrangement, as it was a Saturday. Didn't happen. Called on Monday and said 'where is the walker?' It was finally delivered in the afternoon. read more

My father has used SpecialCare for many years. They really took good care of him. When he needed oxygen delivery they came when they said they would. When his Bipap gave out in the middle of the night an RT came out to deliver a new one the same night. We have had to switch medical equipment suppliers for various reasons, an have seen what good service we get from SpeicalCare compared to the other providers in our area. Unfortuantely they are no longer taking Medicare patients because of the new medicare laws. If things change, we will be the first to switch back to SpecialCare. read more

Nathan of SpecialCare gives 5 star service with regards to my CPAP needs. Their Admin not so much, but I would rate them a 3. So 4 stars overall. Too bad they're no longer contracted with my medical group. Now I have to deal with Apria... We'll see how that goes. read more

Great service, we usually talk to Roberto, I think he is the manager, he speak Spanish also and is very friendly, helpful, always looking to give us the best service in person or even over the phone, he is always available. Everybody in that office if always friendly. If they don't have what you need in that moment; for sure they will go back to you right away to get what you need. I recommend this place. You wont be finding another place with this excellent service. We purchase all my dad's Cpap machine supplies and they help him to adjust the machine w/o any charge and without an appointment, they are always available. read more

my doctor ordered a shower chair July 27, 2017, few days later a Mexican speaking employee leave a message to my recording which i never understand a single word she was saying(except to a word Special Care) not all Spanish name can speak or understand the language.....i scrambled to understand the message, cuz i had the feeling that was my shower chair i need so badly, to make the story short, i called twice already and 14 days later until at this writing no shower chair still.... read more
