WARNING: Serious Safety Issues I would strongly caution anyone considering Special Touch Home Health Care to look elsewhere. My experience with this agency involved negligence, untrained aides, missed coverage, and a complete lack of transparency, all of which put my uncle's safety at risk. On multiple occasions, the agency failed to send a scheduled home health aide, leaving a vulnerable patient without care. When aides were sent, some were clearly untrained and unable to safely perform basic tasks, including transfers. Most alarming, an aide sent by this agency allowed my uncle to fall twice within a two-hour period. Even worse, the agency did not notify me about the second fall or that EMS was called. I only discovered this by reviewing footage from my in-home security cameras. This kind of lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable in home health care. Despite repeated emails and complaints, the agency showed a cavalier and dismissive attitude, failed to take responsibility, and did not implement meaningful corrective action. These are not isolated mistakes--they point to systemic problems with training, staffing, and oversight. If you are caring for a loved one, I strongly encourage families who experience issues with this agency to also report concerns to: Medicaid / Managed Care Plans State Department of Health Waiver programs (such as NHTD) Accrediting and oversight agencies Public reviews matter, but formal complaints are what protect patients and force accountability. Worst agency to sign with. Aides who don't know how to take care of a home, which includes the client. Your loved one will be left at the mercy of God and neighbours, as they don't see the importance of communicating on why there is no aide to do the work. Poor system in place if an aide doesn't show up for work. They just don't care. Good communication is lacking and office staff are not held accountable. Would not recommend. They need to be reported to DOH. read more

Most of the home health aides from Special Touch Home Care have to be monitored constantly/ hourly. The evening hha's sleep on their shift 2-6 hours. Hha's call out at the last minute; the company can't find a replacement, therefore Special Touch Home Care will call 911 & send the client to the ER because agency claims not to have no HHA's to care for the client. The agency has very poor communication skills overall, agency doesn't communicate to hha the needs of the client. Client is in a dangerous situation when inexperienced HHA's are assigned to help them, not sleep. Special Touch Care coordinators communicate ineffectively- clients get hurt and injured under the care of unexperienced hha's who's priority is to sleep on their shift. I wouldn't recommend this agency to anyone. read more

I'm disappointed with this company, they started off good for a couple of days but have since let off of the daily work responsibilities; entirely stopping care services for my elderly disabled mother, and are now demanding to increase their paid hours. read more

I would give this agency 0 stars, if it was possible. I am asking for a simple letter of support from their HR department to serve in resolving an identity theft case for my mother, who was their employee for several years, now disabled after a stroke, and I am receiving a total lack of support and avoidance from their personnel - HR, and the staff at the front desk. It is impossible to get through to anyone of the supervisors - the front desk and other employees just send you on a constant and endless go-in-circles trip! Quite a "special touch", indeed. My girlfriend who is bed bound and can not walk for the past 2years has been using special touch agency. She has had about 6 Aids who just didn't work out. Finally her coordinator who is wonderful and very accommodating found Ernestina ( Ernie ) . Ernestina is angel and the best fit for my girlfriend. She is compassionate, caring and so sweet to my girlfriend , she is totally dedicated to my girlfriend. If I could give Ernestina 10 stars I would, also her coordinator. Awful agency. Especially if you have an elderly mother suffering with dementia (Alzheimer). Unreliable, uneducated personnel. No clue of what their job description is about. Coordinator will call and yell at the (member or their family). They will change aides just out of the convenience without letting the patient or family member know. From aides walking out after punching their time to being disrespectful to the family members. Trust me, my list is endless. This is why I'm filing a complaint with the State. I'm waiting to see when the explanation of benefits from the services received are accurate. The State should be doing an audit on this people. Thank you. read more

This is by far the worst agency I've ever come across. My grandparents are with them and every aid that's comes in this house has been kicked out. They don't speak English, they don't know how to clean, they don't know how to cook, they sit all day on their phones. We are sick and tired of them already. This agency is one of the best among NYC agencies. They accept most insurances and will even help you apply for services. They know exactly what you need to do in order to qualify. I work in the CDPAP program, they helped my family apply and as long as I clock in and out, I get a weekly paycheck. read more

I do not make a habit of posting online reviews, however, when it comes to the care of a loved one and potentially helping someone avoid a horror story I figured its just a few minutes or my time so why not :) My father's health began to deteriorate a few years a go, it started with forgetfulness which made myself and my brothers begin to worry and start discussing what we would do if his condition worsened. About a year a go he was coming back from the corner store and fell as he was trying to go up the stairs to his apartment. He sprained his ankle and ended up with some pretty nasty cuts and bruises. After that incident we decided that something had to be done in order to keep our father safe, and remain in his home as long as possible. Home care was the logical option. It took a couple of months to enroll onto Medicaid and then onto a Managed Long Term Care program (it was explained to us that all recipients of home care services paid for by Medicaid, have to enroll onto a Managed Care program if they need more than 120 days of services) that recommended Special Touch Home Care for in-home home health aide services to us. The services have been great and have provided us with relief that there are no words for. We no longer have to worry that when he leaves his home to do basic chores like picking up groceries or going to the pharmacy that we will be getting a call from the hospital saying that he was admitted for another fall. His aide has become a part of our family -- I have recommended them to my father's neighbors, some colleagues with aging parents, and each one has thanked me for doing so. If aides were constantly being charged it was probably because it wasn't working out either for the patient, family or the (aides) safety comes first for both parties. Unfortunately, I am very sad to report that this agency priority is not the patient. They are not concern with the will being of the patient at all. We have encountered several incidents that have jeopardize the will being and safety of my mother who is wheel chair bound and has dementia. She requires 24 hour care around the clock. This agency has left my mother without any services for two days. A home attendent has actually let my mother fall and has gone outside to ask strangers to help get her up from the floor. This has occurred on two separate incidents and has never been reported to the agency or my FAMILY. I was made aware by neighbors who saw her outside frantically asking for help. This same aide has made false allegations to her agency when she was aware that neighbors had bought the incident to my attention. She never reported this to the agency nor to me . When i told the agency of this mishap not one person asked or call to check on my 83 year old mothers will being . My mother has been with this agency for only one year and she has had several serious incidents to which no administrator nor employee showed any concern about her safety or well being which was jeopardized by their unprofessional home care services. I don't recommend to place to anyone!! read more

My son is long term with CP the weekday aid is great but on the weekends forget it for the pass year I sometime get an aide but they do not want to work just stay on the cell and do nothing but watch TV and if a family member is not there they won't even feed him or change his diaper or they send an aide who can speak or understand English read more

I don't recommend this agency to my worst enemy. The home attendants don't work are lazy. The ones that do work DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CLEAN. One aid cleaned my toilet with water and toilet paper just to name a few!!!! I would not wish this agency and my worst enemy!!!! read more

If I could give this home care agency a zero "0", I would. I totally agree with Glenda G. in her assessment of this agency. They treat Alzheimer's patients terribly and should be brought up on abuse charges in the way they change aides on a whim and don't tell the family! Everything she wrote happened to my family member. The coordinators Stephanie Grullon and Jahaira Ortiz are the worst. They are unprofessional and Jahaira is the worse one of all. After many conversations with them requesting that they let me know when an aide would be changed, they refused to call me and as a result an aide shows up at the house unannounced! Two of their aides were caught sleeping on the job. On weekends, they send four aides to work with the Alzheimer's patients knowing full well that this is detrimental to the patient's health to see so many faces taking care of his personal care needs. I plan to report this to the NYS Department of Health and anyone who regulates this industry. I already have called the Alzheimer's Association. This is patient abuse. I could only imagine what they would do if the patient did not have a family! Horrible, awful agency that should not be allowed to provide care to anyone! read more
