While I've only had limited interaction with Pepie, she seems very good at running this place, training and managing the therapists, the scheduling, etc. I've been working with Toby, and think he is spectacular. I've done my share of P.T. at other facilities (after other injuries, etc.), and often times the therapists aren't all that remarkable, and they often are working on multiple clients at one time. What I especially like about Toby is that...it's clear that he is extremely knowledgeable, and he always employs a host of different techniques, each time I see him. Also, whenever he is working on my hand/wrist/forearm, to help improve range of motion, etc., it always feels like he's intuiting precisely what I need, at that point in time. (In other words, he's not just going through the motions, or doing a bunch of pressing here or there, because it might look 'impressive'. He's clearly very intuitive, and customizes his O.T. work on me, for each session. I should also add that....he's got a great personality and sense of humor, which helps make the sometimes-intense O.T. sessions, a bit more tolerable ;-) I'm very grateful to Toby, and to Hands-Up, as a whole, for giving me the tools to get back my wrist mobility and extension/flexion.

My surgeon and doctor told me to run from this therapist and that they had no idea what they were doing to me. Good Therapist, Astronomical & Unjustified Costs - Felt Gaslit by Billing…read more I put off going to physical therapy for a long time, primarily because I was worried about the cost. Everything I read online suggested sessions could run a couple of hundred dollars, which already felt like a significant expense. I finally decided to bite the bullet and specifically chose MSM because they were listed as in-network with my insurance, hoping this would make the costs more manageable. A friend of mine also referred me to the specific PT. In my initial (and naive) attempt to get better quickly, I actually scheduled and attended two sessions in the first week before receiving any bills. So so stupid. Let me start by saying that the actual physical therapist I saw was great. They were knowledgeable, listened to my concerns, and I felt the hands-on treatment during the session was helpful. I left the first appointment feeling cautiously optimistic about making progress. That optimism completely evaporated when I received the bill for my first one-hour visit. The total billed amount was a jaw-dropping $1,020.00. Yes, over ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS for a single hour of physical therapy. After the supposed "in-network discount," the amount I was actually responsible for (before insurance potentially paid anything) was still an outrageous $729.82. I looked at the initial breakdown in disbelief: $575.00 for CPT code 97161 ("low complexity evaluation") $295.00 for CPT code 97530 ("Therapeutic activities... each 15 minutes") $150.00 for CPT code 97140 ("Manual therapy techniques... each 15 minutes") Even with the "discount," $729.82 for one hour at an in-network provider is astronomical and feels completely out of line, especially for an evaluation coded as "low complexity." This is far beyond the "few hundred dollars" I had mentally prepared for. Now, I'm nervously waiting for the bill for that second session I attended, dreading how much more this initial attempt at PT is going to cost me. When I called MSM's billing department seeking clarification and questioning these exorbitant charges (perhaps I had purchased a bulk session bundle without realizing), the experience was deeply unpleasant. Instead of getting a clear explanation for the $1,020 base charge or the $729.82 "discounted" rate, I felt completely dismissed and frankly, gaslit. The representative was defensive, offered vague justifications, and made me feel like I was being unreasonable for questioning the bill. There was no transparency or willingness to explain how they arrived at such inflated figures for standard PT services. While I genuinely appreciated the therapist's skills, the billing practices here are unacceptable and feel predatory. The stress and frustration caused by this outrageous bill, coupled with the dismissive attitude from the billing department and the anxiety over the next bill, have completely negated any potential benefits from the therapy itself. Needless to say, I will not be returning to MSM. It's a shame because the therapist was great, but I cannot recommend a practice with such opaque and inflated billing. If you decide to go here, I strongly urge you to demand a detailed, written estimate of costs per CPT code BEFORE your appointment - and even then, be prepared for potential sticker shock. This experience was incredibly disappointing and financially stressful. I will be sharing this review with other runners and in all of my run club group chats. Tar & feather.

Of course I still have a long way to go and more sessions with Dr. Dan but I felt inclined to express how wonderful I feel so far especially after each session. My shoulder and arm doesn't hurt as much now when I sleep and the tightness around my neck is less. I definitely recommend Dr. Dan if you need PT. He has a glowing personality and he loves to joke and sing which I think is a great distraction for the pain, especially when he is about to adjust the mobility of my arm. Best of all, Dr. Dan can speak Vietnamese and Cantonese so if you feel more comfortable speaking in those languages, he can accommodate. As for the clinic, I love the location and the staff here. They are efficient and friendly. The clinic is located in the basement of a residential house but it seems to have all the equipment you'll need for your recovery.

This past July, I hurt myself during yoga (a result and mix of over-exercising/working out/pandemic stress) and I was referred to this practice. Before then, I had never injured myself physically and was experiencing - what I soon came to recognize - a high level of anxiety previously unknown to me. As someone who always felt extremely strong, both physically and mentally, I felt like a stranger in my own body. Dr. Niv (Zack) was my primary therapist and (while I wish I had never injured myself or had to learn what anxiety was) I consider it a major blessing that of all the PT's in the world, I somehow happened to find him. He is an expert, serious professional, and all around fantastic human being. I have never felt more safe, taken care, understood, or truly heard by a health care professional ever in my life. The care I received was always personalized and thoughtful. I always felt like he wanted to hear what was on my mind/concerns/etc. His understanding of the body and mind is incredible. My treatment always felt like an extremely educated and human approach. Something I (and everyone else) desperately needed. I could go on! While I am essentially recovered, I wish I could visit this practice every week. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough. Also noteworthy: The front desk staff are amazing - incredibly easy to make or change an appointment, assist with insurance/billing related questions or problems. The facility is clean & welcoming. I would love to share my experience further with anyone considering a visit.
