This one really hurts...ive been a huge fan of Patrick's (the owner) for almost 25 years..ever since his shop in Pleasentville JK5. Although I was never lucky enough to get a Patrick tattoo, I received many from his artists over the years..today I went for a consultation with Raul at Speakeasy (who has tattooed me in the past with Beautiful results) I always liked Raul and really liked his energy and vibe..Anyway, today I presented him with a few ideas and imagery..the image attached is a "Love" Star of David that adorns both my Mother and Fathers gravestones...Raul told me that it dosen't align with his morals...wow! Not sure if its "Love" or "Jews" that offend him..but either way..I was insulted and embarrassed infront of my wife. I was so taken back that I said I understand and left without issue...but as I think about it, I am very upset and disappointed. If nothing else should overcome religious beliefs..its art! Hit Patrick and Stella with a big order! Four family members getting the same tattoo with slight size variations and different locations on the body. Asked for a stylized and heroic rendition of our family arms (herb Sulima) with a Hussar added. And, they delivered and then some! Everything about the experience was fantastic. Isla coordinated for 4 people coming from 3 different cities, to converge on Speakeasy right before the Xmas holiday. We all got our ink on the same day with Patrick and Stella each taking 2 of us back to back. Crazy, but it could not have gone more smoothly. The design and execution were creative and amazing. I can't say enough about the quality and professionalism they displayed. But, more than that, Patrick, Stella, Isla, and all their team are just wonderful people. Great place. Not a "pick a cliched tattoo off the wall" place. These are artists. The staff was friendly and helpful. I emailed a pic of the design I wanted so they could find the artist best suited for it. Made an appointment with Barry. He was awesome. I wanted a change in the design I sent, and it wasn't a problem. He made great suggestions on how make a design that looked great on paper look great as a tattoo. Things I hadn't even considered but vastly improved the overall look. Barry was extremely chill throughout the process. Asked my opinion every step on the way and addressed all my concerns. Made it a stress free experience. Very happy with the result and really expected it to cost more. The price was very reasonable and I couldn't be happier with the tattoo. The place was fairly busy for a tattoo shop at noon on a weekday. As far as I could tell watching the other artists work, they're all the same caliber as Barry. Most definitely coming back for my next piece as soon as I decide what I want. Just know that it's cash only, had to walk to the bank. So just swing by the ATM on your way and enjoy. read more

What a beautiful space and a great experience for my 1st and subsequently my 2nd Tattoo. Patrick the owner couldn't have been nicer. They were so welcoming especially my artist Chris Mahoney! He had patience & listened which made me quite calm & relaxed. I was so happy with the results that I went back this past weekend for another one. I can't recommend them enough! The ride from Grand Central was beautiful, seeing the Hudson River, the green mountains in under an hour. It was worth the trip and Peekskill is a quaint little town. Wow! What a find , I'm so excited to have such an amazing tattoo shop located so close by. I had heard such great things about this shop ( several of my customers as well as my sister and brother in law go to this shop ) and decided to stop by and check it out, I felt welcome the moment that I walked in the door and was helped immediately. After speaking with Stella Vlad I decided that I was more then sure that I wanted my tattoo done at speakeasy, I did have to make an appointment about a month ahead and had a consultation that same day as my walk in. I had my appointment on a Sunday and it was such a great vibe. Everyone in the shop is so friendly and and my tattoo artist Stella Vlad was absolutely beyond amazing, she drew up a beautiful piece and was very considerate while making sure that I was good during the appointment. I've only had my own tattoo for a day and I've gotten so many compliments. I already have another appointment booked for next month and I'm so excited to see how this sleeve turns out :) I will be recommending Speakeasy to all of my friends and anyone else asking where they should get a tattoo done. read more

I came here in February 2015 to get my first tattoo down my side. Beatrice was my tattoo artist and we go way back. We have been buds since high school (maybe middle school?) and she did such an awesome job. I love her and her work. Not only is she a phenomenal person but the time, precision, dedication, and care she puts into her work really made coming here all the way from the upper west side of Manhattan worth it.
