I don't even know where to start with how horrible our experience was at this tattoo shop. First off we booked our appointment through online and emailed the artist (Dan) pictures of what we wanted without any response. I was going to call to confirm but they ended up sending a text about 2 days before our scheduled tattoo date which is fine. On the website/multiple reminders it says to arrive 10 minutes early. Dan didn't arrive until 5 minutes past our schedule time which okay whatever thats fine, except he brought his 3 year old child with him when he finally arrived. It would be one thing if the kid had something to entertain him but no he was throwing things at me and my husband and was all over our artist while trying to draw the outline for our tattoos. Honestly, this was my biggest annoyance and regret for not just walking out, get someone to watch your freaking kid. He kept saying "your mom is going to come soon" but she definitely didn't come until he was mostly through the tracing of our tattoos. In fact at one point Dan was holding his wiggling child that wouldn't sit still while he was tracing one of my tattoos. Besides the annoyance of his toddler being there, Dan was very unprepared and unprofessional. He never properly introduced himself or asked our names. He seemed like he didn't care because we were getting smaller tattoos. He had no idea what we wanted and traced everything which took up most of our time. We each were getting a tattoo for our sick dog and at one point my husband said this and Dan just ignored him. All 4 of our tattoos look horrible, the line work on one of mine is absolutely horrible. It's embarrassing. My husband even made a comment when Dan finished the very small tree he did on my husbands wrist that it didn't look fully green and almost like there was brown in it and Dan got very offended. After another artist tried to give some bs reason why it looked like that, my husband let it go. After he finished all of our tattoos, he immediately said we can come back in a month for touch ups. Yeah fucking right, we're never setting foot in that place again. Lastly, their bathroom was disgusting. Unfortunately, we didn't realize this until after he finished our tattoos. There was a huge puddle on the floor in the front of the toilet and there were no paper towels anywhere to dry your hands and that was the only sink in this tiny basement they call a tattoo shop. If your artist is late and the bathroom is nasty...LEAVE!! read more

Kaleb Edgar gave me a tattoo a few years ago that is full of technical issues and blowouts. It is the opposite of the tattoo design I had in mind for years. He argued with my request to put the outter brush on the inside. He sat me under a leaking pipe while he sketched for hours with his back facing me. (Pipe still hasn't been fixed according to other reviews). He did not cover the bench I was laying on in plastic, and constantly touched his iPad and phone with his gloves on then went back to my tattoo. He then realized I have a "small lady arm" and he couldn't do the tattoo any smaller than pictured. He could have asked for the location beforehand like any other tattoo artist, lucky for him I was willing to move it to my thigh. He told me it would be a 3 hour tattoo, so I'm not sure what size he was expecting to do. This tattoo took 6 hours, not including his sketching. I asked about the crooked brushes but he said it was how I was sitting. It was not... one brush goes through the coral in one direction and out in another. One brush has blue bristles and brown paint... I think he made a mistake there. A permanent mistake. Update- This "artist" has given me a bad review back! He posted a blurry photo of it (which you can still see the blowouts and uneven lines in) with a caption about me being a "lady" (in quotes‍) who disliked the "great" tattoo. Leaving out valuable information and making me look bad in front of his following. I am getting this redone by an actual artist asap. I have yet to recieve a refund or EVEN A RESPONSE for this monstrosity. I didn't sign anything or do any paperwork either so maybe they should keep that in mind. read more

I USUALLY DONT TAKE OUT THE TIME TO WRITE REVIEWS I JUST READ THEM!!! So let me start out by saying that I am very spoiled and have a designated Tattoo artist in NJ. I needed something done ASAP and decided to look up some local spots. I read the reviews as many people do and thought ok I need to avoid this Dan guy that has a bad review . Walked in and was greeted by all the gentlemen their when I explained what I needed done I was directed to this gentlemen when He gave me his name I said in my head FML the one guy that I was trying to avoid based on reviews is the one I was sent to. His vibe was GREAT from Jump (and I am a New Yorker you know we don't like anyone lol). Before he started I said you know you have a very horrible review about your character but wow I'm so pleasantly surprised guess we can judge a person by a review. I left there completely satisfied he was very professional but not in a stuffy uncomfortable way. I would definitely go back to Dan for future work. Lesson learned : We do not know the other side to the review as customers sometimes we can be assholes or just spoiled bratts because we feel we are paying for the service(I have been guilty of this) A review should not discourage you from trying it out give the person ,restaurant or company a chance you may be pleasantly surprised as I was. read more

Had no issues here. I found out about this place from two people one recommended Dan and the other Kaleb. So I went with Kaleb, who was so awesome and sweet. I had texted him and made an appointment a few weeks in advance. And he even confirmed a week before. He took his time drawing up the tattoo and getting it on talked to me the whole time and was very understanding. We had a weirdo come in during my session and Kaleb was very understanding and helped calm me down. All of the workers there seem great and chill. All have their own specialities and availability. Finding it, located in the back parking lot of the bars down the steps. It is a little tough to find. Check them out of Instagram and their tags. Great work. Small studio. I love my tattoo I have no complaints! read more

I was able to do a walk in today with big dreams studio and had Kaleb as my artist. He touched up/ fixed a tattoo of mine that was faded and horrible. He went above and beyond and blew my expectations out of the water. He made me feel so comfortable and was so friendly and nice the entire time. My friend and I came here for a small flower matching tattoo, and Amy ended up taking us. We showed her what we wanted and she said she could do it, upon receiving the tattoo it was nothing like what we had asked for. Both tattoos look different, and when asked nicely if she could help us fix it she had an attitude. We had to go to another artist at Sovereignty tattoo and art gallery in Greenwich named Niko who fixed the mess of a work that Amy did. Honestly, I'm sad to have to write this but don't go to this place if you're looking to trust an artist. I went to the female artist here multiple times for tattoos and one successful cover up. I asked her to cover a different tattoo and instead of giving me suggestions or following the inspiration pictures I showed her, she basically just blacked the tattoo out. There was barely any consultation and even after explaining what I wanted over text and sending pictures of the original and what I hoped to get, she still was confused when I came for my appointment. She had no idea that I wanted a cover up, even after explicitly saying that and sending pictures. The original tattoo was some line with and a little bit of color. She used 3 flowers with extremely dark shading around them to cover it. The fully black shading covered about 4 inches of space while the flowers were less than an inch big each. It was truly hideous. Personally, I thought I bonded with the artist and I really hoped that the artist would have been honest with me and recommended a removal or a different tattoo to use as a cover up to properly hide the previous one before she destroyed my skin. 3 tattoo removals later at tattooremovalCT and the black shading has finally started to fade. Be careful everyone, don't trust these artists. read more

got a tattoo at the CT tattoo convention by one of their artists. I wanted a tattoo cover up over a small crescent moon on my hand that i already had. he decided to change the way my moon was sitting, i thought it was fine because he was so sure that the ink would really take because he went over it twice. not only did the ink fade fast even after taking great care of it, but when i tried to schedule an appointment, willing to travel an hour out to him, he said he would let me know when i could come in to get the tattoo filled in and just never responded to me after that. i think if you're serious about your business you should treat every client like a priority and this guy simply did not. i would not trust this guy to ever touch my skin again. he turned my first tattoo into a bad memory that i now have to go somewhere else to spend even more money to get fixed read more
